I have the same feeling about the models I include in my (counts as) Ghulam Core; I also bring models because they do something, while being able to do something and bring a Light Shotgun is really what to me elevates the Ghulams to excellence... It's too bad the Naffatûns can't do the same! :/

Yeah, I feel that the standard defensive Core is a "fine" choice in Ramah, but then one effectively loses what makes Ghulams Ghulams, hence I prefer active Ghulam Cores to defensive ones...

I played in a ITS where Mercs were an option. A Haris Link I ran it was Hannibal-Zhayedan (Sniper)-Zhayedan (Missile Launcher). They basically held down half the map.

Unless they had some extra house rules I don't think Hannibal can join a Zhayedan Fireteam.

Pettynyt Pelaaja and Delta57Dash like this.
  4. Completely agree, there is no way except house rules to be able to form that Fireteam, because rules do not allow it:

    N4 Rules adaptation Annex v1.1; Page 5:
A Fireteam must be composed of Troopers belonging to the same Unit, or of those that the Sectorial Army List specifies are able to do so. Some special Fireteams can ignore this Requirement, as specified in their description or in the Sectorial Army List.

Hannibal and the Zhayedan are neither from the same unit nor is it indicated anywhere that they can join a fireteam together.

It was a 400 Point "Break the Game" Tournament so that may explain that. But, anyway thanks for pointing this out.

  6. And what exactly is this "Break the Game"?

I don't ask to create controversy, I'm just curious, I've never heard of it :)

I am a bit out of the loop but I have been thinking about this too. The 25-35 point price tag of the 'good' units (Khawarijs, Zhayedans, Mukhtars) makes them better a pointmen than the whole unit, but I guess that is the way of things in the newer editions anyway.

For a while I wanted to make a Mukhtar Haris work I found they were a little fragile on reactive, so I'm liking just a duo with a hacker and viral rifle. The MSV2 red fury is hard to pass up but forcing up to 6 BTS saves versus 4 ARM saves through smoke is a toughie. So instead I'm thinking a Haris with Zhayedan HMG, Leila, and Yara. This is a pretty good moderate ranged team that can ideally deal with heavy armor, light infantry, smoke, and hackers. Then just a plain, workmanlike only Ghulam core with doc, NCO, ML, and two regular dudes. I figure if they are mostly on defense, no pointman is necessary. Fill out the rest with Tuareg, Nahab, etc as mission requires.

Now if Zhayedans counted as Ghulams instead of Khawarijs, we'd really be in business.

I also didn't realize flame didn't have the anti-camo effect anymore. I like my Naffatun models a lot but also don't field them (same as Khawarij). Maybe they'll be promoted to proxy Mukhtars.
