I dont see anything indicating a trooper cannot declare Cautious Movement and use Super Jump at the same time, I see " This Special Skill alters the user's Jump Skill from an Entire Order Skill to a Short Movement Skill", I see the only requirements for Cautious Movement is "At the moment of declaration, the Trooper must be outside the LoF and ZoC of all enemy Models and Markers." I just also dont see an example either. I'm assuming the answer is yes, it's fine, and would work like flipping over a barricade and out of LoF and if they have stealth then they can potentially flip over an enemy behind a barricade.
Cautious Movement lets you move the first MOV value following the General Movement Rules. It does not let you perform the Jump Skill, either as a Short Movement Skill or Entire Order. You can combine Climbing+ and Cautious Move, as C+ lets you move along vertical surfaces as if performing a normal Movement on a horizontal surface. But Super Jump does not have this same effect.
I do not think the rules text for Climbing Plus in N4 allows you to perform Entire Order Skills (e.g. Intuitive Attack) nor Entire Order Movement Skills (e.g. Jump) while on a vertical surface. It only calls out Short Skills and Short Movement Skills and I don't think bullet point #2 is enough to make it function like it did in N3 - just because Climbing Plus allows you to perform a normal movement on horizontal surfaces does not mean that all movement are allowed to be performed on a horizontal surface, and Cautious Movement isn't described as a "normal" movement. This Special Skill alters the user's Climb Skill from an Entire Order Skill to the Short Movement Skill Move. Climbing Plus allows the user to move along vertical surfaces as if performing a normal Movement on a horizontal surface. By turning Climb into the Short Movement Skill Move, the Climbing Plus Special Skill allows its user to perform other Short Movement Skills or Short Skills (for example: Move + BS Attack) while moving on a vertical surface, or if hanging from a height (See Trooper Activation).
If Climbing Plus isnt allowed to perform Intuitive Attack based on there saying nothing about being able to. Then it appears what we are really looking at for both Climbing Plus and Super Jump is a possible omission regarding Cautious Movement and we should get an official CB ruling. It simply makes no sense that you can leave a model with Climbing Plus on a wall between orders or even turns and it cannot perform an Intuitive Attack yet alone a Cautious Movement because the rules dont explicitly say that it despite saying its treated as normal movement, and because that's the same situation for Super Jump, it's gonna have to wait.
Look, there's no mistaken omission or anything. Climbing Plus establishes exceptions to previous rules - it really doesn't need to repeat what another rule that still applies tell you. It does so with Cover, but that's a courtesy reminder that it arguably could do a tiny bit more often. Climbing Plus takes the normal case of being in the state of Climbing and makes exceptions to it which is that previously you weren't allowed to declare, for example, Discover while climbing but now you can thanks to the exceptions Climbing Plus gives you. Cautious Movement and Intuitive Attack are explicitly not allowed by the rules and Climbing Plus does not have any exceptions to make them allowed. The rules also does not call Cautious Move "normal movement". That's players calling it "normal movement", not the rules. Cautious Movement is abnormal movement in the sense that it isn't using the Move Short Skill and in the sense that there exists no movement that isn't obliged to follow the General Movement Rules - even Jump and Guts Roll movement are forced to do so. And remember; Guts Roll movement isn't using a skill to move at all; you're not allowed to Guts Roll movement on a vertical surface.
These are good points, but I can see counterpoints. The closest the rules come to defining the capitalized word Movement is the Movement label, which is defined as "The use of this Skill or Equipment is a form of Movement." The Cautious Movement skill has the Movement label. I think maybe where Climbing+ refers to "a normal Movement on a horizontal surface," it means any Movement which would normally be done on a horizontal surface (Move, Cautious Movement, and Dodge), and Climbing+ allows the use of all three of those skills to move along a vertical surface as if it was a horizontal surface. But I take your point that Cautious Movement is a whole order skill, and Climbing+ only allows the use of short movement skills and short skills "while moving on a vertical surface." So it may be that Cautious Movement is "normal Movement," but is nonetheless not allowed while on a wall. If you could use the skill at all, then Climbing+ would let you use it to move on a wall, but you can't use it in the first place because you're on a wall.
The second bullet point that tells you to do "normal" movement is necessary to allow you to measure movement on the vertical surface in any other manner than vertically upwards ;) (Edited a bit extra for accuracy - I over-interpreted some words)
I think you've convinced me. I'd say the Climb+ trooper can declare Dodge on the wall (short skills are allowed), and if successful, can do its Dodge movement (this is normal Movement but on a vertical surface). The trooper can't declare Cautious Movement on a wall because whole order skills aren't allowed (but, if the skill were allowed, then the resulting movement would be normal Movement on a vertical surface).
Again, the rules dont say that you can't use whole order skills if you're standing on a wall. And let's not act like the rules are perfectly laid out when they're not and so much has been messed up that has had to have been clarified. People asking questions like this are looking for specifics written in stone so that all parties are happy. You know this.
Slightly off-topic but since we are talking infinity physics here… Can you jump horizontally (and return to the same position) while in ladders?
https://infinitythewiki.com/Climb Important box, outside the main skill: As long as the user is holding on to a vertical surface, he cannot declare any Skills other than Climb.
Wuji, Climbing Plus literally modifies Climb... (Plus, the rules are written to gradually build complexity - you need to read the rules in their entirety)
- Gravity does not like this message - (if you can or cannot, don't know. just saying laws of physics would not be happy)
The climb's important box is a general thruth. Not specific to those who used the climb skill. But applicable to any trooper that finds itself on a vertical surface. Climbing plus automatic skill specifically allows to use short movement skill and short skills while in the walls. Also specifically allows to ARO while on the wall. But they didn't mention any provision for doing entire skills.
As long as both you and your opponent agrees it is a parabola you're measuring, same as for when jumping on flat terrain ;) It's a bit silly, but I can find nothing in the rules for jumping says you need to respect gravity or treat the "y-axis" as your reference axis. A Shikami can, essentially, do a Spiderman-style jump around a corner from one wall to another, landing higher than the starting point by angling the parabola just right.
Right, that's the thing, because Climbing Plus is sort of special... and likewise Super Jump. There should be more examples and such explicitly mentioned, including for Entire Orders.
