Tariq has gone on the back burner. Let’s have a go at this challenge and see if I can paint more than one mini in a month

I'll call Tarik done for now.
    IMG_2680.JPG
I may come back to him during the whole OP@Home process.
Honestly, the pics are pretty forgiving as my paint job here is far from being consistent and I see a lot of defaults.

The last days' heat prevent me to do much work on them but today I was able to do... one colour
    IMG_2684.JPG

It took more time than I expected but as it was a really mindless process it didn't felt like a burden.

And the non OP@Home mini gets her part too.
    IMG_2685.JPG

Beside that, am I the only one that think that high-heels paraboots doesn't make much sense (and even more for jumping troops) ?

Death to all combat heels! I made it a habit to cut them all off. So silly.

But your Haqq looks amazing already! Could even leave them with just that one color in my opinion and call it a day :P Because those base toppers just tie it all together so nicely that you wouldn't even notice. Just claim they're coming in from a sand storm XD

Just one queation: Which Sectorial are you playing? Or are they for vanilla Haqq? Because I see Tariq, but I also see three Ragiks and two Hawwas :P

My main faction is YJ, I only got into Haqq because of the red veil box as it brings me a second faction for friends (and maybe as an excuse to buy Maggie ).
The extra blisters were bought during bargains at FLGS so no specific logic beside the minis being cool and cheap.

I have to admit that the pic make those nice but the won't pass a close review. Still nice to read such nice comments.

Tomorrow will be hot again so next update may be next week.

Finally the weather was not hot at all so I was able to paint (drawback, not much sun so bad lighting.

Kind of frustrating session for the green as I went shy on the first highlight so each steps was wrong. I ended with something OK-ish but I spent too much time on it.

    IMG_2686.JPG

Ivory/cream is not highlighted yet but it starts to take shape.

    IMG_2687.JPG
Little progress as I one colour for all this one has no green.

    I’m remembering why I don’t batch paint

    Slow progress, orange next...

    Slow but steady as usual.
How do you work your pre shading/high light ? It's doing wonders.

And, I agree about the minis limit, I may have made less errors if I had stuck to the 3 or 4 initial minis.

The preshading is Vallejo black primer through an airbrush, diluted 50/50 with airbrush thinner. A couple or three of thin coats blasted at high pressure to get in the crannies. Then a couple of zenithal coats, at low pressure, with white ink, with the last coat concentrating on the extremities and upper surfaces.

Thanks a lot. The white ink should be what's giving it that great finish.

After yesterday being hours of batch painting, I wanted to go back to the non boring stuff so focused on the Al Hawwa units.

Disclaimer : the pictures are way too much forgiving.

Don't lie to ourselves, he's called Rico and here's some classified info about him :

    Keep Talking, and Nobody Explodes

Joke aside, a lot of mix-match feelings as several details deperately were really rewarding but as a whole, I find it really dull.

Lady Desert Sniper (aka not part of OP@Home), really nice miniature which deserve a better paint-job than mine. But so far, I'm happier with her than with her fellow infiltrator.

Now the question is : what colour for her hair ? The official scheme is dark grey hair but I think it' would be too much grey (that what makes Rico dull).

Easy choice would be to make her a ginger but I one of the Ragic is already set for this color.

There's already some red so it could be too much of it.

Blue doesn't seems a good choice.

Maybe green but I'm not convinced.

Any suggestion is more than welcome.

For both, going the urban camouflage pants way ended better than expected. Unfortunately, the red highlight work doesn't show properly on the pics.

As the ink has much smaller pigment particles it gives a less grainy finish than paint. I also found at low pressure it almost comes out of the airbrush like a directional fog (for want of a better description) rather than a spray, so settles beautifully on surfaces without getting into any of the details.

I understand what you mean about the non conic spray. I may investigate the ink way in the future, thanks again for the details.

    Concerning her hair color:

I do quite like the outlandish colors some minis have, like the purple of her comrade. If you don't want to use that again, how about some bright green? THat might work well in the color scheme.

Been considering the same purple as Kaboom guy but found but not sure either.
Thought of blond but I find it hard to paint.

Bright green may indeed be the choice of reason. Now that I've worked a lot on brightening it, I may get the result I want.

    Thanks a lot.

Bright green is going great, thanks for pointing me to it.

    Those two are officially done.

Too bad that the sniper could join the line up as it will end as the best result of all for sure, but I had to choose so the base uniformity was the way to go.
