(Sorry, I spelled the title wrong and it doesn't seem like I can change it). I'm starting to feel like Knauf offers something that no other trooper available to Haqqislam can reliably accomplish. He is the only one able to deal with rocket- and missile Launcher link team AROs, something I've struggled against greatly. Knauf can outrange them and outburst them, unlike all other Haqq snipers, plus he has MSV1 to mitigate the mimetism that is very common is such troops. For example, yesterday I went up against a full 5-man link with a Black Friar with Rocket Launcher, standing on a rooftop. Knauf outranged him, and would this hit on 13 with Burst 3. The Black Friar would hit on 10s with Burst 2. Knauf stands a very good chance of winning, and his DA + Shock makes it unlikely that the target will survive. Now, if he's up against a link team sniper, rather than a rocket or missile launcher, the odds change dramatically, and I wouldn't bet on winning that (though I might try, if they lack MSV). But my point is, no other trooper in Haqq will have odds this good in a straight up F2F against a common, if not ubiquitous, defensive link build. And this in an army which has neither Eclipse Smoke nor White Noise, and thus limited other means of countering a linked long-range MSV ARO. This makes, I feel, Knauf an almost auto-include in Haqqislam lists. But am I right or wrong? How do you guys rate him?
He's been in all human Vanilla factions since Outrage released, and was added to StarCo and O-12 Vanilla when they came out.
He's awesome in Starco. But every character is, and you have to take them all, or you're basically just playing gimped Nomads...
I liked Knauf in N3 and I definiely like him in N4. Used him few times with good results, yet he's not in all of my armylists - he fights for the right to party with Djanbazan AP Sniper, who also is really good (so much better in N4). Djan's advantages are MSV2, a big thing, because lets him outrange and take out total reaction hmg from behind of smoke without any risk of getting killed. He also has better ARM for example, which can help a lot, but also Regen, and - last but not least - he costs only 0,5 SWC. So for me those two are competing for the sniper spot in my typical armylist. And I still didn't try my N2-N3 favourite sniper - Lasiq. PozdRawiam / Greetings
