I've just purchased Soldiers of Fortune and Double Trouble. Inside both boxes I've found various additional tokens. Among these, there are some square tokens with dice results on them and a few hex shaped tokens with characters portraits. I was wondering what's the use of these...
Square tokens with dice results are for adding automatic results to a dice pool as a reminder, for example the automatic from Bill's twin pistols skill, so you don't forget them when adding up results. Not essential to use but can be handy at times. I did see a use for the portrait pieces but can't for the life of me remember it now, hopefully someone else will chime in.
Portrait pieces are markers for some tactics that grant a specific effect. Basically a reminder that a specific tactic is in play (eg „Illusion of Stone“ from Lei Gong)
These square symbols help to keep in mind that extra symbols for the roll are considered a separate dice: https://www.aristeiathegame.com/wiki/article/29-dice
Each "portrait" hexagonal marker is related to a specific Tactic card. These particular Tactics have effect stat keep going after the Character activation. As said, is to keep in mind that the effect is ongoing.
