just bought a chandra to give my thorakitai a boarding shotgun fto choice. but looking at the arm and the bonus weapons, how am i supposed to supposed to swap out the combi with the shogun without an extremely high chance of ruining the mini?
The bonus weapons were designed more for general conversations than specifically for the Chandra, though the Aleph combi and BSG are pretty much identical up to the carry handle so you can cut there and attach the front of the BSG onto the back of her combi.
tried that style of converting with some kappa, my skills.... ill have to get some pictures of those disasters XD
With the spec-ops (at least in Paradiso N2), the extra weapons were additional to the stock weapon, not necessarily a swap out. For this option, I usually drilled into the back of the model to embed a magnet, then carefully drilled into the weapon and installed another magnet there (and just magnetically attached a "slung" weapon - for the longarms). This also worked for a few "proxy" models, where the spec ops model only had a knife or a pistol in their hands - where I just added the right weapon to fit the profile. Otherwise, you can very carefully remove the weapon above the arm (on the chandra) and remove the corresponding bit of the spare weapon, and once both sides are flat and matching, line them up and with a little gs and superglue, do a weapon swap.
Looks pretty good. Maybe needs a little bit of filler at the top of the cut, but most of that should be concealable with paint.
I’ve found the most luck clipping well away from the point I want and then filing to it. So, I picked one of the ‘lines’ in the gun and cut off the combi rifle, then I did the same thing to the spitfire, and got a halfway decent result.
For metal, a razor saw is going to be your best bet without having to file for a while. The clippers will deform the metal and pinch it, the saw should just cut though leaving cleaner edges.
