I'd suggest light weathering, something that is clearly very well maintained but hasn't been installed yesterday
Agreed. When I was in Japan, there were very few 'freshly-painted' shrines, most of them had a little dirt in the corners and some faded paint. I think they usually got rebuilt every 20 years or so.
I have been ignoring my Plast Craft terrain and working on my Battle Systems terrain. I have a ton! I should take a pic of all of those. I finally got my trees. They came from China so I am not going to lie with the coronavirus happening I am hoping the virus didn't come into contact with my package... So if I stop posting you will know why!!! I made 2 of the peach tree plants. I have 2 more bases to make. I made 2 of the these. One with the darker trees and one with the lighter trees. I made 4 of these. Two with the darker trees and two with the lighter trees.
Coronavirus is a pissed-off common cold. Drink more fluids and spicy food to clean out the sinuses. Trees look great!
All Plast Craft terrain pieces are on clearance at Miniature Market if anyone wants them. I am not going to lie I am tempted to get more... I just have no place to put more buildings. Currently I have 6 of the Yellow, Suburb, Star Motel, and Armory, 5 of the Shopping Centre, 4 of the Sushi Corner, and 3 Bridges. If I did get more I think another Sushi Corner and Bridge. I would like to get other set for a different table build, but I have been finally doing a cull of my game room and organizing it. I have finished building all my terrain pieces and miniatures so I could put it all where it is going to go. So much painting to do... I also condensed my board game expansions into the core boxes and started getting rid of ones I am never going to play again. I also started to sell off my extra tubs of action figures that will never make it to my shelves. Why do I have so many hobbies? I threw away all the clutter aka garbage that I have been saving incase I want to make terrain out of it. The only places left open is for my Battle Systems fantasy terrain and my Bones 5 Kickstarters. I also have a little section open for my scatter terrain I plan on getting for my YJ table. After that I will have everything I want... Well, you know until the next thing!
I have been busy punching out some Battle Systems Terrain. I bought 6 sets of the cyberpunk terrain. I also bought 2 of each of the different sets of scatter terrain from the sci fi and urban terrain. I have sooooo many crates now! I finally did something for my Yu Jing table. I bought walls from Sally 4th and got them done.
The Plast Craft Website is down. It says be back soon, but I wonder since they were not restocking after the Christmas sale and Miniature Market putting all of their stuff on sale. I am so glad I got it when I did!
Since probably soon I won't be able to buy anything from Plast Craft without a high price point I bought the last Sushi Corner on eBay.
I forgot all about that last sushi corner until the other day when I was cleaning and organizing my game room... I smart! I have way to much stuff! I still haven't put it together yet. I backed a kickstarter to get some "garbage" scatter terrain for the allies. I want it to look lived in if that makes sense. That came yesterday. I primed it and I am hoping I will get that done this weekend. I think it will look good in corners and around corners of buildings. If not I can always use it for Necromunda. I plan on staying away from the earth tones and going more gray. I have been following Wylde83 on here and I like the mat he has been using so I ordered that. Now to one day actually play a game...
I have been slowly working on my garbage. I hurried and finished one so I can look at it next to some buildings.
Sudden recollection! If you feel like crafting more small bits for the garbage, this person does freaking magic with cardboard, glue and zip ties for his post-apocalyptic games (which would fit right in on Infinity garbage dumps too, no need for super-accuracy for garbage), just yesterday he posted this video of making an office chair out of cardboard, wire and a superglue cap, then making a mold out of it to easily make more of them:
Thanks for the share! I will be adding that to make subscription list. It is awesome what people can make.
I painted the Walking Dead objective markers. I think they will work well with all my other garbage. I am suppose to get my mat today. I will try to set up a full table sometime during the holiday weekend.
I really liked the look of Wylde83 buildings with the graffiti, but I knew I couldn't do that. So I bought the transfers from Micro Art Studio and Green Stuff World. I only did 2 real quick to see how it was going to look. It goes on the Plast Craft building's so easy!
I found a seller on ebay that had some of the bridge and stairs. I bought 4 of them and combined the pieces so I would have double long. Here are the bridges. And here are the stairs. The last step is a little lower then I would have like, but it works game wise. Here is a close up so you can see what I did to connect them. Since I made them this way I did run out of the support pieces on the back. I had a few ladder pieces I didn't use on the buildings and cut them into the correct shape. The ladder side will go against the wall of the building and wont be seen.
The steps and bridges look great. The torii on the steps particularly. Thanks for sharing the close shots of the connections! How strong are the joins? Capable of supporting a TAG or bigger models for example? I'd love to get a Su-Jian up and across those. On another note: These comments did not age well. Section9 has now been missing for over a year. Hope he's alright, but I have a feeling he is not.
I am back and bringing back my dead thread. I have been painting and modeling Reaper bones 5 and Dungeon and Laser 3. So I haven't been working on this terrain. I bought two toriis and 6 vending machines from Miniature Scenery. I am still cheating and cutting a pasting the scans from the Plast Craft buildings. this time I used the shopping mall. For the vending machines I have started 2 of them. I am using Fallout and Borderland print outs for the decals.
