So for those that do not know Starmada is getting Chaksa Longarms.
Source: it is about 5 minutes 30 second into the vidio.

What are your thoughts? We do not know how it will be fully implemented but it could help or solve some range issues or is it not worth it? For those that do not know Chaksa Longarms are BS 12 and get BS damage +1 but can have missile launcher or portable autocannon.

I suspect they will at least be able harris.

Coming from someone who plays Spiral and Tohaa: they are currently pretty trash.

Unless they give them some sort of extremely meaningful buff, I don't see you guys getting much use out of them.

Viewed in a void there's very little about these units that makes them any better or any worse than most units in the premium line and light infantry segment. The only real problem here is that the premium line and light infantry segment is filled to the brim with units that just do not have a place unless the unit offers something that the faction is direly missing and doesn't mind paying a premium to get.

Chaksa does offer something in short supply for Starmada, but I'm not sure if it's in short supply enough. Similar to how I'd never found myself in a situation where I thought "boy wish I had payed 1,5 SWC for that Missile Launcher Zhanying instead of having a hacker" well, and that's in a sectorial that doesn't have a Missile Launcher on a much cheaper line infantry. Starmada, WinterFor, and White Company does, in Kappa and Fusiliers, and at the same level of BS as Chaksa.
Unless these can basically get into a Nyoka or Betatrooper Core, I think they'll remain an acquired taste.

We could just for the range bands. Most Starmada hitters have red furies with +1 Damage (making them basically shock spitfire). We have very little with good range bands pass 24 inches with 1 MSR, HMG, HRL and ML options for links.

I do think they need to be better in spiral but they may get a small rework there (honestly I feel if spiral could add the other chaksa to a long arms link that might fix it.)

Yeah, but the Longarm is BS 12 with no visual mods. Unless it (somehow) gets the ability to go into a Core Link, I'm pretty skeptical that it'll meaningfully help you out with your long-range problem (with its current statline). The Missile Launcher variant is 8 points and 0.5 SWC more than a Kappa ML, with the same BS.

im conflicted that the autocannon is now becoming a "common" weapon among the factions because of them XD

    True.

If Chaksas can core that AC becomes attractive, but once again on a 1W BS12 guy, so why don't give them to kappas/bluecoats/nyokas already?
Starmada is really the sectorial of the awkward fireteams and overlapping units...

It says O12, so I doubt it, considering the other 3 factions mentioned are all specific sectorials... (WhiteCO, Svalarheima and Bakunin)

Nyoka HRL has exactly the same range bands...

I doubt it, because mixing the 30pts 1W wonder with 2 10pts baggage flamethrowers wouldn't be broken... but the longarms have other weapons to advance with those pyromaniacs in tow, and *that* could be op (10+10+25)

I doubt the ML will be picked, I expect to see the autocannon more especially if it gains the ability to go in a cheap fireteam (like kappa) because a dam 16 AP+EXP weapon in a core with range bands that are actually good would help the faction. But again that is predicated on it going in something like a Kappa or Bluecoat team.

Of the factions the chaksa are going into, Starmada is the one where they have the potential to make the most impact.

it is also in an far more expensive fireteam in an expensive faction, and doesn't hit as hard

Kappa's have Shock Inmmunity. Chaksa's have only Biounmunity with 0 BTS, i think... are worst comparision and... Starmada can pick 1 Epsilon as ARO piece adding Boiunmunity + Shock Inmune + 3 BTS. I don't like so much this xeno unit added to Starmada in special... But we need to wait and see how is the final fit of the chaksas if they can link in some fireteams. I don't like their weapon dispossition too... its worst combination in my opinion.

They have 3 ARM, which means they just take everything on that, BTS doesn't factor in.

A single unlinked is not a good ARO piece, like at all. Epsilon's are far more valuable as active turn removal pieces other wise it's just a waste of points and SWC, that just gets pasted by the first mediocre gunner that looks at them, better off using a lesser piece like a solo Nyokka HRL or Kytta

Ok. Say that with the MSR Epsilon in your deployzone corner or outside from enemy weapon range MODS.

I don't like the Chaksa's works inside of this sectorial, srry mate.

Tried doing it enough times with Intruders to near constant failure, it doesn't work. Only time it did was on a table that had virtually no terrain and a sniper tower in the back corner.

That's fair and I understand. I also dislike diluting a factions uniqueness, but when it has the chance to add something useful to the faction I can get over it, Just wished they went about by adding an actual O-12 piece as opposed to stealing someone else's.

I playing with him a lot of times, also works for me better than a full core team, if he can waste some orders and put lot of preassure on my rivals are great for me and worth it. Always you can find a nice spot to put the Epsilon, he don't need to stay always in front of all enemy army list, just put him in the best spot he can works very well.

In my opinion, just for fluff and O-12 lore... i can't understand what can fit a xenos in a human+droids army to preserve the humankind and their laws... O-12 is about the mixing all human factions and their own AI Aleph, specialists, people, soldiers and servants for the humankind... i understand better that, if they can put a couple of regular troops or elite from any faction to work just only for O-12 service. For example... Just change this xenos garbage for an Ariadnan - Autoportable cannon...(new or old versions) or the Kosmoflots units... THEY are simple humans, not a xenos. For the fluff or something... i agree anything else better to fit in O-12 or in this sample, Starmada (elite focused space army) than a xenos... In O-12 vanilla when they are release i am happy to see just only remotes, humans and Aleph together, but sadly for no seeing krakots-kendrat-libertos and another xenos mercs, bcs they are funny to play and cool badass... but i agree with the lore for O-12 for that, just the humankind for the humankind.

What are you talking about? The HRL is 19pts 1SWC (meaning actually *cheaper* than the base profile XD), and the base profile is 22pts (the *same* as the cheapest Longarms). And have a Haris option beside the Core. If you want to add a Bronze, or make a Core of Nyokas, then you are not comparing the costs of a Nyoka Haris with a Longarms Haris...

Heck, you can make a HRL + 2 FO Multi rifle Haris por 65 pts, and you have a team of specialists cheaper than the 70+pts of the Longarms, and Climbing plus. Sure, they don't have ARM3 (ironically, they have BTS 3, so they could use Bioinmunity better than the Longarms...), but aside from the AP+EXP Vs Fire (and I must tell you, I have killed more TAGs with a HRL than with any other long range weapon for the last 5 years) the HRL can place a circular template, negating the Cover bonus to ARM... Meaning it's effectively "Damage 18" against the 16 of the longarms. Meaning the PAC becomes better once you shoot against ARM 6+ enemies, because the PAC can't negate cover bonus to ARM. And let's be real... finding enemies without cover is very rare, Achilles & other heavy impetuous units.

Fair point, however, I did say I was working under the concept of them being able to join a kappa team, of which the base kappa is 13/0 compared to base (though not cheapest) Nyokka at 22.

In order to see any real amount of use in starmada they will need halfway decent fireteam options, if they get ported over as they are with just their own haris I don't see them getting taken at all due to the existence of Nyokka and Starmada's generally great Haris'.

They don't even get to Triad in Spiral Corps, so I think the idea that they'll be able to Wildcard in other sectorials to be... optimistic.

Kinda have to optimistic otherwise what's the point of discussing them? if they don't end up being able to mix they will be pointless.

And giving them triad wouldn't mean they would get instantly taken in Tohaa. Tohaa is the definition of a solved faction in this game (or at least as close to as you're going to get), and something has to be better than what is currently being slotted into triads to get a slot in the triads and when it's competing with the like of Sukeul or the sniper whose name escapes me, I don't see that happening. Especially when a profile is going to be competing against a BS13, 2w model with mimetism, essentially wildcard and the ability to shrug the first hit it takes that new profile is going pushing shit uphill to find a place in the army before it hits the concept stage.

Which is why I said Spiral, not Tohaa. Sukeul Commandos aren’t in Spiral.

The sniper you are probably thinking of is the Taagma, which is Spiral-only. If Longarms could Triad, they might be worth considering in lieu of the Sniper, but they can’t, so they aren’t.
