still interesting but my hype got deflated (and my immediate plans to collect the remaining missing tags from my collection) on news its corporate warfare between mining companies (and maybe ariadna and their dogfaces) rather than full tag warfare between the big factions
I always assumed it'd be a battle royale type thing with a few TAGs and some monsters, so not a big shift. Going from countries to corporations doesn't mean a whole lot when the companies are all aligned with a country.
The yu jing industrial tag looks great I hope the other tags look just as good. Has it been confirmed if the tags from tag raid will be playable in regular infinity like the various characters from defiance?
Thanks for letting me know. Being able to use the tags in regular infinity will definitely be an incentive to get tag raid.
Some miner brawl, no hex board, no equipment cards and no aristeia dice? Good lord, at least my FOMO will not kick in this time. Not for some rusty mining robots, thats for sure.
That's actually a good point. Those hexes must be quite large if that image they showed was representative of the scale of the game. On the subject of the size of the hexes if they are that large perhaps there is scenery in those hexes able to provide cover for the tags.
Lots of Infinity profiles missing? Tons of N2 era sculpts? Nah, better release another stand alone game about mining equipment!
The hexes may be large, and thus you can have a swarm of something 25mm in a single hex perhaps. 4 Taigha's in a hex!
My questions about TAG Raid are: - Metal or board game plastic? - A!/Defiance engine and dice? - 2 players or 2+ players? - TR TAGs coming to Infinity similar to A! and D characters? Like ALT skins, re-armed maybe?
That kind of mod is really easy for us to create and use as players, without the devs needing to even get involved. I actually already have one written, originally for N2, called "Iron Fists." I cleaned it up recently for N4. The weekend I did so happened to be right before TAG Raid got announced, so I've sat on it until now because I didn't want to put anything redundant out there. But since TAG Raid seems to be a very different beast, I'll post it soon and you can take a look. Basically you mod troop AVAs and have a minimum requirement for points spent on TAGs, and job done. It can even be skinned as a custom scenario/mission to allow use in ITS, if you want to play it low-end at just 400 points (TAG games would go form 300 to 600 or so with these rules). It could just be a weird-ass one-off tourney, or a pre-round or Sunday round at a big satellite. My guess is that with TAG Raid we will see a lot of Reptile series TAGs and other things mentioned in the background that haven't been available till now, and that yes some of them will be playable in normal Infinity. Much like Defiance, the KS will be a good deal for the minis alone, even before you consider the new game you would get. And when many of us have those TAG minis plus our original collections, a TAG-heavy custom ITS scenario could be totally doable. TLDR: No need for salt right now, we're going to get some cool new TAG minis and a smaller game.,
I actually think that exploring other parts of the fluff is a good reason to use Kickstarter, sounds like TR will focus on the corporate/Civilian side of the Infinity universe rather than the nation state/military level focus of N4/C1/Defiance.
I'm excited - TAG (engineers?) with D-Charges seems like a good way to address one of the most common ways of trying to fight against TAGs.
Kickstarter is also a great use of something like this, where your normal fans might not support it. So you don't want to invest a lot into it and it be a dud. With kickstarter you at least gauge the interest with money down, and there is no doubt. Worst case is that you don't do a lot of add-ons and stuff, rather than investing into 1000's of boxes that sit on a shelf and no on buys at all.
For those looking for a massed-TAG-battles mod for the basic Infinity game, I went ahead and posted mine ("Iron Fists"). See the thread linked below. TAG Raid will probably be awesome, but here's another option if you wanted to field squads of your existing TAGs. It's pretty rules-light, just mods to AVA and a 70% points requirement to spend on TAGs and TAG-like-things, plus two small changes to the Fireteams rules. If any of you feel like pitching 400-600 points of mostly TAGs against each other in TTS or on the tabletop sometime, I would love to have some feedback. https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threa...tical-armored-gear-combat-for-infinity.39668/
