This might be a dumb question but mines, how do they work? Mines have silhouette x which is essentially just a base and when in camo, the camo takes on the same silhouette. Is camo silhouette open information? If so wouldn't my opponent just ask for the camo silhouette to figure out if there is a mine hiding underneath? If my camo mine is behind a box and a trooper walks by the opposite end of the box would they have LoF on eachother since the mine is behind total cover essentially compared to the box and vice versa. Would the mine still go off?
Mines have the Concealed trait which means they are hidden under an S2 Camo marker (though the mine remains SX for the purposes of trigger area) Total Cover will stop a mine triggering, bear in mind that LoF has no effect on mines. https://infinitythewiki.com/Mines The Trigger Area of a Mine (whether it is a Camouflage Marker or a Mine Token) is the area within the radius of the Small Teardrop Template, extended out from the edge of the base of the Mine. The Trigger Area excludes any areas in Total Cover from the Blast Focus of the Small Teardrop Template (see graphic).
Or, to put colbrook's answers in line, with quotes: The silhouette of camo markers is open information. But mines have the Concealed trait, which reads: Concealed This weapon or piece of Equipment uses the effects of the Camouflage Special Skill. Refer to the description of the weapon or Equipment for more details. Camouflage Markers concealing a weapon or a piece of Equipment have a Silhouette (S) value of 2. Which means the open information for the camo marker representing a mine is that it is S2. (And, no, mines can't be prone.) Seed Embryo's end up being the special snow-flake SX Camo markers, but that's a whole different thread (you either say "Pop quiz. I'm placing an SX camo marker outside my deployment zone. Do you know what it has to be?" or decide if want to be prone).
