It means the scale and type of thing will be the same. It will not be 1/200, or TAG cockpits where to place tokens like MB's Battleship, because Infinity is far from those. Different materials can be perfectly compatible. 12? Uh! Cazadores de Ballenas. It is. Maybe not the cleanest joints, but it is. Spoiler Near the end in both videos, look for the flame torch. Yet innovating with cheaper & lighter material at least for core parts of big miniatures would be nice to see.
Hard plastic would be my preference (it almost always is), but yeah I doubt it's gonna be the case here. Metal seems likely, they know the material and they've done TAGs in it for years, maybe PVC for some larger models, but hopefully not too much of that. Resin would be new for them, but would be a good choice. Fairly light, good detail, no harder to work with than metal. PP do resin and metal quite often, which is a good mix. Larger components in resin and smaller bits in metal.
For so big miniatures, I think good resin and good pvc are the best options (there are big differences in quality for both materials). Good pvc allows a lot of detail, specially for non-organic figures, maybe not as much as metal, resin or hard plastic, but is cheaper for a small run as I think this will be. The problem is that PVC is a bit harder to work with when assembling and some people doesn't like it. Good resin is the best for details, and can be mixed with metal pretty well (there are good resins that doesn't loose volume while the curing process. But maybe it would be needed for metal-dudes like tags. There are bad pvc (with size and detail issues after curing), and bad resin (brittle or too rigid so breaks too easily. Or badly worked so it gets too much bubles) Hard plastic might be too expensive for low run models. Moulds are pretty expensive and need big runs to make them profitable. Also, for not loosing certain details, there need to be a lot of smaller pieces, and extra union points to check, file and fill Metal is an option, but for so big miniatures might be too heavy. Even with that, CB has the best metal wargaming miniatures at the moment and they might do something viable even for that size
Raizots are mainly used to hunt megafauna back at their home planet, yes. And to become a pilot you have to hunt a particularly dangerous beastie called a Demarok. That would make for a cool scenario. I dig the idea of giant robots fighting giant monsters, but it would probably be something like a side box (which I am fine with, really)
One of the tables I played on at Gen Con 2019 had massive lizard beasties as terrain, I've been intrigued by a big game hunter scenario or wandering monster scenario ever since.
Sooo if Ariadna is getting a TAG does this mean we are finally getting the one from the N2 book? (I think it was from N2?) [Image taken from Reddit user xayzer]
Hope not, I understand the sentiment veterans have, but this would be almost as bad as monocycles returning. Way too old school for me, looks like a Robocop ripoff or something of the kind. I want something that can reasonably match other factions' TAGs despite being low-tech.
Considering the Kriza went from skinny jumpsuit guys in the same book to big boi beefy HI with their release in N3 I think it's safe to say they're willing to reinvent and revamp designs as needed. Heck look at this art for (L-R) Pavel McMannus, Cuervo Goldstein, and Vassily Plushenko from before any of them had minis.
No reason Ariadna couldn't use their newfound technology upgrade and support by O-12 and such to get a more modern TAG that can be the result of donated technology.
We also know some Nomads make a living retrofitting and upgrading obsolescent manned TAGs, sometimes selling them on to other parties. Then there's models like the Ramhorns designed to be sold on the open market. I actually really hope we get a generic Ramhorn merc for both TAG Raid and N4
I would dig a generic Ramhorn too. That sounds like a cool idea and a nice unit to have both on Infinity and on TAG Raid. I am still cautiously optimistic about this project, because I love the idea but I really, really, *really* don't want this to be metal. Still, if we get something like: Base Game: 5-6 TAGs fighting against each other; Big Game Hunters Expansion: Comes with 2 CA TAGs (Raizot and Sphinx, maybe) and a bunch of cool alien beasties. Adds Monster Hunter game mode; Base Raid Expansion: Adds attack and defense game mode. Comes with ALEPH and O-12 TAGs (possibly a new Steel Phallanx Manned tag, would be boss); Heroes of the Human Sphere Expansion: Comes with named characters like Scarface and Toni; This is pure wishlisting, but I would buy all of them.
Maybe some beasts from Tohaa since they are forced to live in the human sphere. The Kerail's beast, the Heraal could be bred to be sold as fighters to the Tag Raid arena? That could be part of the beast expansion DaRedOne suggested.
Ariadna (Kosmoflot) arriving to Code One. All Code One factions have TAG. Ariadna developed space technology because O-12, so... is posible a space themed TAG? (ok, no, but we can dream)
I've been sitting one day, half drunk, sorting through the Defiance box in anticipation of the long awaited addons and it got me thinking: - What if it is based on the same hex grid + Aristeia dice mechanic like Defiance? With same-sized cards for skills and equipment (more in expansions?). - What if it uses similar (compatiable) to Aristeia arenas? Might even have some upgradable killstreak-abilities (like Defiance specializations cards). - What if you can expand it even further into small scale squad skirmish on arenas/tiles? Like, Code One starter + TAG + equipment/skill card deck. - What if you can have some advanced campain/tournament rules with scavenging/equipment stores/pilot leveling ups... - Since it's a TAG-deathmatch game, what if they make trophy upgrades/skins for TAGs? - Solo campain based on Defiance AI-mechanic? And then I woke up and realised that those 3 guys making rules will not be enough for that and I should lower expectations by 75%. Oh, and it will be a one-time thing with no retail release. Still... imagine the possibilities of combining all that Infinity + Defiance + Aristeia together...
N1 do you like to know more? art page if i remember off hand. as i would like to finally see this in game with a legit release, the fatsuit designs have shown their tech capability and ascetics have evolved beyond this.
