So here's a real humdinger I just thought up,

since drawing LOF is a requirement for BS attacks and LOF requires seeing 3x3mm of a target but can be drawn from any part of the silhouette, can I do any of these things?

    1. poke around a corner by <3mm and see multiple enemies but, only have the 1 I shoot at be able to shoot back at me ?

    2. can I jump <3mm over cover and only target 1 model and only receive a bs attack reprisal from that target?

    3. Finally, can I go <3mm around a 90 degree corner within ZOC of an enemy, forcing them to declare change face and then shoot them with complete safety?

All of these interactions seem to be pretty non-conducive to a fair and desirable game environment so I would hope that these could be cleared up post-haste.

I can see you're new around here.

Yes it is detrimental to the pace the game is intended for. (3 Rounds only...)

However LOF is drawn in a reciprocal manner, if you Peeked from a corner in a way that less than 3mm of your mini showed up, how is it posible for you to draw LOF towards the Target?

I got this from the fact that in the rules for LOF, it is only reciprocal between you and someone you shoot while in their front arch.

The rules also state that you can draw LOF from any part of your silhouette without specifying an area as long as you can see 3x3mm of the target's silhouette.

I don't see how it's detrimental: you want to minimize the fire you receive back, if pocking just enough to shot at a target is available according to the rules, it is not only fair but also a good tactical decision.

Anyway, as far as I have seen, "poking from corners/roofs" in various shapes is one of the most common ways in which shots are exchanged and, by definition, a guy coming out of a corner will gain LoS to enemies behind that corner "one at a time", meaning there is a point where only the first is in (reciprocal) LoS and so on. The 3x3mm rule only changes this quantitatively not qualitatively, meaning you need more of the poking model silhouette out, but still enemies behind that corner one will enter LoS one at a time. And, front arc permitting, they will gain LoF contextually as well.
The only case when this does not happen is when enemies have different heights (first one prone, for example, or one on an elevated ground) and they are placed along the exact same line in regard to that corner. Actually, that is quite an effective way to keep guns on a corner since all or none of them will gain LoS at the same time on that poking dude (check with your opponent, since this way of placing models is likely to require you both to play with perfect intent).

I admit I discovered the 3x3mm rule only recently. If applied correctly, it greatly reduces the "effective" silhouette of models (around a 30% for S2), meaning in the great majority of cases, this rule is equivalent to say that an S2 has an "effective" silhouette of 19x37mm inside it (you mostly gain LoS starting from a side). Actually, silhouette proxies in order to be helpful on this, should be like this one: if you can see one of the the inner lines, you fulfil the 3x3 LoF requirement for that target (the only cases when that is not true is when you see a central portion, it can happen, of course, but not so often).

Ok, when I say detrimental, I most likely mean Troublesome.

As Sirk said, playing with perfect intent and sportsmanship may be required, if playing in an enviroment where games present a time limit (like in a tournament), wasting game time by measuring abstract Geometry in Milimeters when you don't need to (like being outside of LOF and ZOC of your target) is detrimental to the game experience.

The Rules do allow it, and Shooting while avoiding being shot at is a core gameplay mechanic so be sure to check in with your opponent and clear these things up first.

As for the prone Targets on a lower height, or Cross Corner situations, there's a FAQ that showcases important (albeit confusing) LOF interactions so be sure to check those up as well.

Spoiler: The prone trooper against a low wall you shoot from above while targeting it's back can and will shoot you back.

    Welcome to a forum, @Kaveman
as you can read in Errata from FAQ 1.0 for N4, LoF is retroactive. if you can see some troopers, that troopers always can see you. in most cases it posibly to move you trooper so it "slice the pie" to get LoF one by one to several targets, but if you clearly moved to them at once this mean they can all see you too.

now lets settle things by points:
    1) NO, you cant see for example three targets, but being not seen by some of them, if only not used complex rules like Zero Vizibility Zones (Smoke) or some of them not positioned by rear arc to you.
    2) Same, but in another demensional coordinates. it not change if you moving horisontaly or verticaly
    3) no, as you saw the target, the target can see you & can ARO BS attack.

    what you can do?
    look on this picture:

you can move from a corner so you can see only model C first, not giving LoF to A & B.
however, you can't gain LoF to B or A without also giving LoF to C.

same story with a Jumping (you need super jump skill to make it work). You could posibly jump from a total cover to see only one model, but it always be model with a highest Silhouette or one standing on the higher ground (or both).

    hope you get the idea.

Okay, the height of a base is comparable to the length of a head. Thank you. I'm pleasantly surprised that height is actually 3mm cause it seems smaller but maybe its cause I'm imagining 5mm as small.
