Been wanting to do this for years. Covid has provided the time. Here are my Morats with home made weapon swaps, some forehead ridges, and sashes courtesy of a texture plate! I managed to paint some up in the last couple of months. Starting with the hungries. This original scheme was no good at all! I was going for something like a tropical bird: Then, with inspiration from the new Taiga creature paint scheme, I ended up with this: I've also done the Daturazi which were a lot of fun and a way to test out how true metallics might look: I liked it, so carried on with lots of drones and similar: With the true metallics and the lenses on the worm eyes, I became very nostalgic for my old 40k painting!
That is such an awesome conversion quite fitting for the morats. But how are the hungries not spiked boars yet?
Ahhhh I should have done boars! My big problem is the TAGs. I want to channel some Klingon starship look, so greens and reds (hence the Daturazi cloth bits). But I worry they won't be cohesive with the rest. Yes @toadchild , 1st Ed hungries that a friend bought, but disliked in favour of some xenomorph minis. I got lucky!
Finished a few more recently. Really enjoying painting this scheme. It's quick, effective, and they look good on the table.
Thanks burlesford and Mogra! Here are the next batch, done for the OPAtHome competition. (and I've just ordered a camera sensor cleaning kit to get rid of these specs!)
