Hi guys, I am starting Aristeia. I just ordered my box and already bought most expansions (I love the models and their look). I am on the fence of swapping all the bases for some Hexagonal ones (official plastic hex 30mm bases). I could not find any indications or tutorial using actual Aristeia models. For those of you who swapped the bases for another plastic base, what it difficult? Did you keep the small barr below each model? Did you cut flush the feet? and if so how did you glue it back? I usually use Tamiya cement for all my plastic models? Would it work with Aristeia?
I haven't used the hexes but I did rebase some onto 25mm rounds to do double duty. I trimmed off the bar entirely and glued them with super glue, poly cement won't work as the Aristeia! minis are PVC like boardgames pieces rather than styrene like the bases and many plastic wargaming kits. I usually use Gorilla Superglue, but the plastics glue easier than metals so a budget glue might work just as well.
Oh wow, thanks, I did not know you could not use the cement with these models. Thanks a lot. Did you experience any issues with the models with tiny contact points?
I would not recommend bothering with rebasing unless you plan to get some of the Customeeple's inserts for storage (or something similar). Just not worth the effort and requires lots of pinning (I used 1mm drill and paperclips). I used Cyanacrylat glue for models, PVA for MDF bases.
Well, since they all magnetized I pinned them just to be sure they don't fall off. Most minis have a pretty good surface area, just some one-legged (axe, gata, bixie, eclypse) need it for sure.
