I've been chatting with my local Vanilla Yu Jing players, looking at what they have run in previous tournaments (not often appearing actually is the interesting answer there) but also regular game nights and other play opportunities.

It's clear from this examination that the use of JSA units in Vanilla Yu Jing was far from isolated or rare. So the impact of these changes on our local players appears to be greater than that seen in the wider international meta.

That's why I'm doubling down on my call for early access to Invincible Army. Even if the model support isn't ready. Even if they were supposed to be a big drop later in the year. Even if CB thinks that this isn't the "right move" or the "right time".

    It IS the right move.

    It IS the right time.

    Invincible Army should come now.

As soon as possible, even if only as a PDF.

This is exactly the kind of response that I was hoping could be prevented.

Daiyokai getting multi-marksman gave me hope that we might get one in IA.

CB must have calculated that a lot of players will just turn away, but they also calculated that JSA will attract more players buying a lot more miniatures than older players who usually have bought what they needed and only get new releases. We know who is more precious for them.

Bostria saying on BOW that YJ's now have finally space for new sectorial, while other armies have 3 shows full lack of consideration for the players. Then saying to ISS will get some miniatures this year and it will be a hard year was just too much. Even if he was trolling, the bad taste is too big for me. Time to go back to scale models and look for a miniatures companies that actually care.

I don't think IA will come in May. Sorry guys. However, I do think they might come around Gencon time? I reckon IA will be huge sectorial!

But as one of the Admirals' local yu jing players i don't quite get the sky is falling? Vanilla yu jing is an amazing list, full of incredible units which are just flat superior to their pano counterparts. This is separate to having profiles you cant use, I get that is frustrating and it sucks. But lets not cross purposes here.

I play vanilla yu jing completely void of JSA units. Because I have always played the japanese sectorial with my JSA models and found they didn't mesh very well.

Our other main yu jing player I've only ever seen use the JSA units he thinks are great value - shinobu, ninja, keisotsu, and tokusetsu. The latter two entirely because they are slightly cheaper for the same function. I think he'l still be pretty happy that ninjas get to stay.

Overall, I think Yu Jing zhanshi could use a 1 point cost drop and they would be in a perfectly fine place. Yu jing vanilla has a great roster, and ISS has an INCREDIBLE roster. I think this is exactly why CB needed to axe JSA, introducing new profiles that wouldn't be flat out broken when combined with certain JSA units + powered by Kuang shi would be very difficult.

I disagree. There was no mechanical reason to do so. A potentially interesting STORY reason, sure, but there's no indication that balance was getting out of whack.

Yeah, but we don't know the entirety of what they have planned. They are likely play-testing unreleased sub-factions against each other well in advance of profiles becoming public knowledge.

Balance may not be out of whack now, but once they've released new sectorials, they might have found an issue or just wanted to avoid a certain unfun playstyle from becoming dominant.

Oh, they have a plan, that's a sure thing.

The problem is wether or not it is good. So far the feelings aren't good. I mean, the japanese are going to sell like drugs at a Spanish political party, but that's at the cost of making a chunk of your playerbase angry and confused. Some people may leave. There's certainly going to be a lot more japanese players than Yu jing players this year.

I don't even know what the hell they think is going to happen in the campaign. The japanese are clearly going to go for our heads, morale is about as high as the earths core and we are going to get our asses kicked. Unless, of course, they don't give us any location enemies can take from us. Then they can just railroad the whole thing to "Yu Jing was competent and morale was really high".

That's giving them the most charitable possible interpretation. I find that highly unlikely.

I once learned during a logical reasoning course that I should prepare my argument based on the most charitable interpretation of what I may be arguing against. Otherwise, its not a very strong argument.

Perhaps, you could try making the most charitable interpretations of the current events and see if you feel quite as bitter and down trodden.

Maybe CB will let us down, but I for one am currently happy with where my yu jing are at to hope not.

I feel that giving them the benefit of the doubt is the only reasonable mentality I can have, because the other option is to not play until they've implemented their full plan (or in fact ever again).

I'm hoping my YJ friend keeps his spirits up because he's recently had his Union Guildball team cut in half by their narrative arcs also. How unlucky can one miniature gamer be?

I've tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, and its now got me thinking that Invincible Army is definitely coming in May and @Bostria wasn't joking about drinking our tears, so his comments from today's video are just a troll to milk as many delicious droplets as can be had.

Which is pretty much what Bostria suggested. He said "Just go play ISS, we'll give them something, for vanilla wait until next year when your unit count is back to normal"

May I remind you that it's the beginning of March and there are only so many years in the human life.

I thought that "previous edition faction" became a thing when Shasvastii update was delayed in HSN3. Now CB is making it systemic.

Tell me about it. I'm 20, I won't see White Banner until I am 23 or more. Half the people I know from my community will be in their mid 40s.
Hell, by the time we see UR or Sygmaa most of the community I'm part of will be dead or in nursing homes.

Daily reminder that it is in CB's interest to bench entire factions if wimps like me pick up another in the meantime.

Daily reminder that CB lives primarily thanks to their fans' goodwill, and if people get pissed off enough the company will crash and burn.

Nah, for that they'd have to go far beyond screwing up a game of miniature soldiers.
