After various purchases I have made for other factions and second hand models I received, I have found myself with a number of Yu Jing models and I was wondering if I can turn it into something resembling a decent list.

    I currently have:
2 red veil (3 zhanshi, Hsien HMG, Tiger Soldier Hacker, Zuyong Combi, Ninja w/ Tac bow)
2 beyond red veil (Daofei HMG, Guilang Sniper, Zhanying Sensor)
    2 crane agents,
    Sun Tze
    Ye Mao ML
    Liang Kai
    Lu Duan
    Rui Shi
    Yakong Rems (x2)

Is this more suited toward Vanilla? Should I look into one of the sectorals? Is there anything I definitely won't use? Any and all help is appreciated!

Daofei HMG doesn't exist in game anymore, you'll have to proxy it as something else. Hsien HMG is a very expensive unit so if you want to use both on the regular you'll probably end up proxying them as something else. The Zuyong is technically a Multi Rifle, but no one will be able to tell the difference.

You're completely missing order generators for ISS, so that rules that out. You're missing the stronger units for IA, order mooks and nothing to spend orders on isn't great. You've got an okay selection for White Banner even if it is really SWC heavy and missing specialists.
Vanilla, though, you're ready to play.

You are off to a good start. Here's some of my recommendations.

XI ZHUANG Combi Rifle, Light Flamethrower(+1B), Flash Pulse, Madtraps / Pistol, CC Weapon, PARA CC Weapon(-6). (0 | 21)
DĀOYĪNG (Lieutenant [+1 Order], Minelayer) MULTI Sniper Rifle, Shock Mines / Breaker Pistol, CC Weapon. (1 | 34)
    HǍIDÀO (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper Rifle ( ) / Breaker Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 33)
HAC TAO (NCO) Heavy Machine Gun, Nanopulser / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (1.5 | 65)
HAC TAO (Hacker, Hacking Device) MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser ( ) / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (0.5 | 62)
TAI SHENG Breaker Combi Rifle, Chain-colt, Flash Pulse ( | TinBot: Firewall [-6]) / Heavy Pistol, CC Weapon. (0 | 39)
NINJA (Hacker, Killer Hacking Device) Tactical Bow ( ) / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (0 | 29)
    KǍNRÈN (Hacker, Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Chain-colt ( ) / Pistol, Monofilament CC Weapon. (0.5 | 28)
SHAOLIN Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon. (0 | 5)
MÓWÁNG (NCO) Spitfire, Flammenspeer / Heavy Pistol, CC Weapon. (1.5 | 47)
    KOKRAM (Forward Deployment [+8"], Minelayer) Heavy Shotgun, E/Mitter, E/M Mines ( | Deployable Repeater) / Heavy Pistol(+1B), CC Weapon. (0 | 41)

Also IA starter box is good.

Xi is in a Dire Foes box but it's worth getting. The HVT is great and Lelia is a good proxy for a bounty hunter.

I have very similar set to miscNouns so thank you as well :-)

Do you think that Yin Hui Invincibles (2 Missile Launchers) would be worth considering? I can take it in a fair price.

Its quite uneasy gathering collection, at the beginning of the journey, knot knowing if it will be suitable to Faction play style and my preferations (as I do not have any yet :) )

Yan Huo are kinda all garbage, the ML profiles especially. The only one that even has a slight potential really is the HMRC profile but only in Vanilla not in Invincible army.

If you like the miniature and get a decent deal, go for it. It's fairly expensive points wise and one of the older profiles (read: less optimised), but it's still a decent, durable threat on the table in the reactive turn.

If you are playing in a rather competitive environment where people tend to optimise their lists and chase the meta with the strongest factions/units, the Yan Huo is probably not going to see much play. In a casual environment it's perfectly fine.

It looks better than it is unfortunately. The HRMC is good but the MHMG is not bad either. Of all of the big guys, I think the Mo Wang is the better of them. Especially when he gets into +3 range.

The MHMG has no purpose to exist, Shang Ji-sus is 1pt more. The HMRC can at least argue it's the only way to get a Burst 5 gun in Vanilla.

    Shang Ji-sus doesn’t ARO B2 EXP in a Haris?

A fully core-linked Shang Ji definitely outclasses the Yan Huo, but put them both in Haris links and they’re closer to parity bc the YH looks more like a damage-boosted Feuerbach in ARO, and is pretty similar to the Shang Ji in active. It trades speed, BTS, tinbot, and doubling up AP with Shock ammo for +1 BS and ARM.

9.95 times out of 10 the Shang Ji is the better pick, but for those of us who experience boredom and don’t mind running janky suboptimal lists the Yan Huo can be fun.

I mean, it's not like the Yan Huo opens up any particularly interesting gameplay strategies either. He's a big gun platform that does big gun things.

The missile launcher Yan Huo is a 45 point ARO piece that will duck behind cover a third of the time something manages to graze it. On top of that, with no special visors or visual mods of its own, you're often relying more on intimidation than actual ability, especially as modern firepieces for most armies become more and more optimized in that regard. Always remember that for the price of this guy, you can get almost 2 TR HMG bots. That's a huge ask for something that isn't necessarily even as good as one of them.

The MULTI HMG variant is pointless.

HMRC is cool for that burst 5 HMRC big dick energy, and definitely hits like a truck. It's probably the most usable of the Yan Huo variants by miles. You won't be hurting yourself for taking it, but there are alternatives both in IA and Vanilla that offer more utility and are generally better at actually playing the game than the Yan Huo is, especially once you factor in IA's fireteam options.

I have a hard time justifying taking him in anything. He's not particularly competitive with Yu Jing's better options, and his kit isn't exactly interesting enough to dedicate the space in a list that he demands. Gorgeous models, however.

Sometimes that's all you need. He's the only thing that brings a TAG's gun without a TAG's cost, which will give him a fairly big advantage in a new meta where people tend to run the coolest things they can find. I know I did very well when my friends and I first started thanks to Shinobu being able to scalpel out centerpiece troops such as TAGs or the fancier HI. The HRMC could work due to its powerful active turn, while the ML could catch out players who aren't in the habit of spacing their troops yet. It's certainly not a piece that will see heavy use in competitive play, though.
You couldn't have picked a better starting point than with Yu Jing. It's a versatile faction with lots of options for its playstyle, with relatively few troops needed to switch things up due to its focus on points-expensive Heavy Infantry doing the majority of the work. You've probably got plenty of unglamourous Zhanshi to provide the Orders you'll need already, so focus on playing about with things like Daofei, the Hsien HMG or Hac Tao in order to figure out your playstyle. If you want to try a horde of Warbands, Monks are your best bet (try and proxy them for a game or two, Warbands can be an acquired taste). If you got into the game with either Kaldstrom or Red Veil you'll more than likely have a Guilang; these guys are high-grade Skirmishers and can easily show off the less direct Marker-heavy playstyle that focuses on objectives over raiding DZs. Tiger Soldiers are among the game's best Air Deployment units, if you can't enjoy yourself with them you probably won't find much joy in other AD offerings.

If you decide to stick around and expand into full competitive play, the full spread of REMs, the Support Box and some kind of Daoying are must-haves. You'll have to ask a more regular player for an up-to-date breakdown at that time, as the meta is prone to shifting at a moment's notice due to the fresh edition and I haven't played Yu Jing myself for months.

I like to think of the various yan huos as units who may not be the best at what they do, but they'll be at least adequate in most situations.

And they're pretty fun to play, so I rarely regret bringing one.

I should point out that the Blue Wolf also has B5.
I really like to Yan Huo miniature, but I really struggle to fit it to my lists. HRMC does look really cool dough, and on papier it has a huge damage potential. Perhaps a new sculpt could help us? (By new sculpt I mean some Tiny rules upgrade to help the new sculpt sell better :-P).
I'm N3 three was a lot od complaints about the Yan Huo slow speed (4-2). That changes, and we stilo are not that pleased with him ;).

What the Yan huo needs is courage so that he stays on ARO duty when you put him there.
And we don't need new sculpts as the existing are ace.
Just a little rule tweak and less restrictions in fireteams. Let the missle launcher in a Haris and give him total reaction. Congratulations you fixed the Yan huo.

Neither of these models should be left on ARO duty. By the time your opponent is engaging them the rest of the link should've fallen trying to stop them first.

That is true I often forget the Blue Wolf has B5 on his AP Spitfire.

The Blue Wolf also has the same BS, damage 15, and AP as the HRMC. Of course, they're also different in a lot of ways, including the 23 point difference. The advantage of vanilla, especially vanilla YJ, is that you have access to tools for any kind of job. The Yan Huo is great at threatening hard targets from across the table, as long as they dont have mimetism. If that's not a role you feel you need, then dont take it.

Many thanks for all suggestions! I really appreciate your time and effort to help.

I read a lot about TAG's in N4. Should I consider taking Blue Wolf or Guijia? My son wants to take Maggy very badly. I wonder if such models aren't too soon in the learning stage.

What is another big problem, is building list. Taking someone's list from the internet is not the solution, as I don't know list creator plan, and building my own is mainly guessing :-) Different models synergies aren't clearly visible for me yet. At the moment I like models with high ARM and BTS and multiple wound characteristic to do the job while weaker models try to survive to keep their orders (I was also suggested to take Kuang Shi as cheapest order generator).
And to tell you the truth I'm always amazed when I read here your opinions bout active or reactive roles of some models. I can understand how important building list + deployment + units usage (in the battle) is in Infinity, but on the beginning it seems very complex.

TAGs are super-easy to use, I'd say it's probably a good idea to start there and then learn the counters for them before going into the nitty-gritty of how to get the flimsier models to work. Just a word of advice, both Yu Jing TAGs are somewhat specialist tools due to them needing to have a plan to make the threat of CC work to be fully worth their points - where both Haqq TAGs are pretty straight forward. Maggy can be a bit difficult to make full use of when you consider how expensive the 360 visor as it is more of a "soft" power projection device.

Yu Jing is so far the most complex faction I've tested because there's very few miniatures designed to be expendable that also have a decent gun.

Wow, that's the news for me. My son will be very happy then. As he wants Maggy and second Haqq TAG it seems to haven't it's model yet, then the choice is quite obvious :)

I was looking on Yu Jing TAGs profiles. I can see that Blue Wolf is cheaper than Guijia Squadrons. Both models are awesome. Would it be wise to go with Wolf?
Taking Wolf I'm trading Martial arts L2 & Super-Jump for Berserk & Terrain Total. Wolf has also a better Dodge and less ARM.

...and when we're talking about TAGs, do I need a Pilot model? I don't see specific pilot version for Blue Wolf.

You will very rarely ever use the pilot to the point you don't really need to buy one. It's use is so niche you could just use a marker to proxy the pilot in the event you need one.
