After that 60 pta investment you almost want to get a 2nd AD just to justify that EVO price. Problem is that 2nd AD is Crusader....
I guess I don't see the opportunity cost of dropping the Teutons? What are you using the Specialist Operative rating for anyway? (actually, it's the SMG isn't it? that makes more sense, but I think the Machinist in the Core might be more worthwhile anyway) I'm seeing enough states dropped onto single HI that relying on resetting seems unwise, especially when you could have the Engineer right there in the Core at no loss in toughness (it's replacing another LI, not a HI).
A LI holding a haris together is a lot easier to kill when that haris is sitting in the midfield relative to a 2w HI shooting at bs13 and dodging at ph17. The specialists are there because I like the SMG loadout and so that haris can complete objectives as it pushes. I considered the tinbot but with the EVO for fairy dust I dont need the firewall source and I would rather the 2 tough specialists. Which also gets to the point of that EVO fulfilling more roles than just making the santiago drop reliably. Because its Firewall in a HI list and baggage in a list thats happy to reload its disposable weaponry. So not really "extra cost on the AD" alone
Not too much of a surprise as combat groups are known. But she is a reserve/striker/game changing piece mid to late game. There does exist the possibility to mix up the groups so she can drop round 1 with some orders but outsidr of NCO tueton haris with 2 lt orders I dont think thats a great idea.
I cannot comment on landing rolls as I am known have failed to hit with an HMG Swiss on 18's twice in a row on two separate games in the same day... but on performance, the few games I managed to play with (even after walking him from deployment) he performs well, but I am constantly forgetting he has mines something that while costly on orders complements his boarding shotgun quite well especially against clustered enemy formations such as link teams. Now if I ever manage to land him were I want to and save some orders it would be better.
well it is something unknown, a quantum state trooper if you will, the opponent will torment himself with the possibilities until the wave collapses upon reveal.
Is it just my impression or is the Santiago strangely priced compared to the YJ HI drop troop? Hacker options are 37 vs 45 and 8 points difference seems excessive, considering he should have a frenzy discount.
Improved statline, more diverse weapon loadout, Stealth, better CC, 360v. I didn't do the math on this, but I don't feel like I'm overpaying for what he brings to the table.
Yeah she can rip an opponent apart on her own. She may legitimately be the most dangerous, versatile and toughest profile in the game when you consider she cant even be eliminated before she hits the table and her capabilities when she does.
Well, for sure he's not that expensive for what he brings (though there is still Raul so yeah ... Santiago AD is hardly a crazy value). The bit problematic is that if you fail your AD, you have rather expensive point investment of 45pts with a short range gun in your DZ. Yes I know he can go IMP which is good, BUT that means you are usually 2-4 orders down the drain (AD order, IMP order, and then 0-2 orders lost depending on turn number), plus whatever you have to pay to get him in position. And MO while having some tools, doesn't have enough points to have many fallback options ;P (if plan A doesn't work)
Thank you, its an Order Seargents head and a PanO backpack. Bit of filing and rebuilding with greenstuff to plug some gaps/restructure a few pieces and shes one of my favourite minis.
