Was it so hard to just give them BS 12? How do you add a ninja that is specialized in marksmanship and then have it shooting people on 11s? Why is it classified as a Skirmisher if it can deploy within +4" at best? I am genuinely curious if anyone out there is trying to play this unit because I'm struggling to find him a good purpose in any list. The shock marksman rifle profile feels like a step in the right direction thanks to generous range bands and three dice that allow you to deal with other combi rifle/shotgun skirmishers with relative ease. But what the heck are you supposed to do with the MSR profile? Use it as a surprise ARO like Noctifer? I feel like the value of such a role is less impactful because of the lack of a template weapon and the fact that such a model won't be using its close combat skills in any way. I could see the MSR profile being useful as a long-range flanker but the problem is that it starts in your deployment zone and you can spend orders doing more meaningful things with other models.
Basic tier ninja has two jobs; a) push buttons b) stab people en route to button Non-specialist ninja cannot do this.
Agree on the low BS / lack of Marksmanship / MSV / other for fluff reasons, however, as a unit that Marksman Rifle version has done good for me. It's the Climb+ that does it.
The bs11 is a downer, but with the extra range and mimetism -6 the kunai can work well as a problem solver to snipe specialist or stab skirmishers. Especially thanks to climb+ My main problem is the damn 0.5 swc tax, really feel that in druze that kills it for me. Most weapons like this are swc free
IDK, I like the Kunai. It doesn't make it into every list, but it's an interesting tool to work with. A Mimetism -6 sniper in the right place can really grind your opponent's advance to a halt, especially if they don't know it's there until it's too late.
Pretty much this. In N4 some factions are dying for some kind of vertical mobility, preferably non-hackable to handle repeaters on rooftop, and the kunai fills that niche for ISS.
