A Palbot is in S2S with a TAG. The Palbot gets Targeted. I Guided the Palbot. Does ECM affect my roll? A: Yes. "When do you apply negative MODs for Skills, Equipment, and Weapons, and who do the MODs apply to? For example when using CC Attack (-X). The value of an Attribute, Burst, Damage, Ammunition, MOD, number of uses... will only apply when using that Skill, Weapon or Equipment. If the Skill, Weapon, or Equipment requires any targets, the MOD will only apply to those targets " " ECM AUTOMATIC EQUIPMENT Requirements In order to use this Automatic Equipment, its owner must be the target of the Attack type listed in round brackets. Effects ECM imposes a series of negative MODs on the Enemy when they attempt to Attack the Trooper that owns it. Both the affected Attack type and the MOD that it imposes are listed in the Unit Profile of the Trooper. " The TAG is a target to Guided. The negative mods get applied to the enemy. This works the same way as walking an Odalisque into S2S with an enemy trooper who BS Attacks an alternative valid target: the CC Attack (-9) will apply to the BS Attack.
The counter-argument is that Template Weapons say it doesn't. https://infinitythewiki.com/Impact_Template_Weapons All MODs applied to the attacker's Roll are determined by the Main Target. As stated above, this Roll will be compared separately against the Rolls of each enemy Trooper affected by the Template.
Dont's the template rules basically say that ECM -does- apply for the Guided shooter's result against the TAG, but not for their result against the Palbot? So you end up with a different number against each target, with the result against the Palbot not getting the mod, but the result against the TAG having the mod?
No, template weapons state you only make one roll with MODs only from the Main Target, which then compares separately against each target. It's not like Dodge which can have different target values depending on the source.
Ok, not to be a party-crasher, but... Shouldn't this mean that ALL TAGs with synchronized units need the ECM mod in their peripherals too? I mean, the Gorgos has ECM (guided)-6, and two (out of 3) profiles with peripherals, the Seraph (also ECM (guided)-6) has a profile with auxbot, and one without. Sure is an edge case, and affects underplayed TAGs, but... Is it an oversight, a bug, or as intended?
*shrug* Then you might be attaching too much value to the peripheral or need to be better at spotting a board where the issue may arise and choose lists accordingly.
