It can't be intended to cheapen unit cost since magisters didn't receive any discount at all and infact lost skills. Compare their price to higher bs similar equipment tankos which they used to be priced exactly like and you see the Stark difference . Also if anything regular hackers got overtuned to the point people are complaining about how hard life is for khds now
That would be awesome! Of course, the Aquila Guards theoretically have the best command academy in the human sphere, so I’m not holding my breath..
Considering the Aquila Guard were also supposedly trained by Shona Carano and yet in game they have CC 15 and a Shock CC Weapon with no Martial Arts... Yeah I'm going to say that 90% of the Aquila Guard Lore is just flat out not translated to in-game mechanics.
this got me thinking that maybe Coadjutors will take the place of the light linkable infantry (half of the remaining OS profiles) while OS will split off into a more solo unit (still using their current box of minis to represent). The OS would then take on the role of a beefier Auxilia (heavier guns paired with auxbots). Everything else aside, and regardless of the split... please, for the love of Space God, can we get some of the new/updated profiles in vanilla pano? Im getting tired of seeing all the cool things going to the sectorials. I get that its probably a balance concern, but the sectorials have link teams with 2 wound murder machines... does Joan's band of cheap orders really beat that now that we’ve got an order cap? (Looking at the specialist Montessa and grinding my teeth here)
MO is a really good opportunity to broaden what Vanilla can do, but for some reason, we don't really see a lot of MO's best units functioning well in Vanilla. Magisters would be a very interesting warband if they were AVA2 or AVA3 in vanilla... Dodging, Coordinated panzerfausts, corner-guarding with shotguns, impetuous move for order efficiency, Regular, etc... All perfect for the N4 landscape. But they're still only AVA1 in Vanilla. Trinitarian Tertiaries; unique and interesting Camo unit that could give Vanilla a slightly more interesting Camo game. But for some reason, they're not available to Vanilla. Same for the AD Knight of Santiago. Same for the MO Tikbalang. I know that Military Orders would like to keep something special for itself. That's a natural desire for any Sectorial. But Vanilla sure could use some help, and MO is a great place to draw units from.
And a good reason why such units may need to be kept local and not vanilla, maybe MO needs them to function, but are too good for Vanilla.
I don't exactly feel like PanO vanilla would somehow become too good with Trinitarians. Ava 1 quality TO infiltator in a faction without too many options in this area is hardly that big of a deal.
this is my sentiment as well. If AVA 2 croc men doesn't break vanilla, the I feel like AVA 1 trinitarians would be just fine. Yes its a savings from croc man, but it adds diversity to the roster and wouldn’t replace the croc by any means. This is all made more perplexing by the double up of locusts and nokken doing the exact same thing—why limit it to that pair of units?
A guy with Camo and Mines is too good for Vanilla. Fascinating. Only in PanO. I think many would debate whether or not those kinds of restrictions are needed anymore.
That would be AVA 2 corc and AVA 1 trinitarian so 3 to minelayer infiltrators, or you mean cut crocs to AVA 1?
And, more importantly for the context of a discussion of what we hope Magisters will become, their Magister equivalent got the price cut AND kept Stealth. Because no Warband, even a heavy Warband, can really do its job in the N4 environment if it's both Hackable and missing Stealth. The day I see someone take Ava 2 Croc Man Minelayers in a Vanilla list then I'll concede this is a valid point. 30 points for a non-specialist Infiltrator? That's a hard sell at the best of times.
Nomads are not PanO though there are obvious design decisions that PanO has in its capabilities and also in its restrictions.
If Trinitarians would have been from a nomad sectorial they would have been AVA 2 in vanilla the vanilla PanO nerf makes zero reason it's an old thing from the time where PanO got 2 times more sectorial than other factions if vanilla PanO is the worst of all vanilla faction it's because of those stupid old limitations
Nomads have AVA 4 on Infiltrating minelayers, but only 2 with Camo and Mimetism -3, versus our 2 with Mimetism -6 and Camo.
I’m really interested in this conversation. It seems like a near impossible task to balance a vanilla faction as their sectorial count goes up. At the same time, I think pano needs things like cam infiltrators more than any other army at the moment. Because they are short on tools. Their low wip and reliance on high bs (which can’t be boosted by fireteams in vanilla) means they need some of the tools.
While I'm all in for factions "strengths and weaknesses", limitation etc. it more and more moot point when comparing X to PanO due to everyone getting "Swiss level" of shooters (looking at you kriza). tldr; PanO shooting is not so special anymore, why do we cant have more of tools of other factions (if they shoot same or better than us)
