Classic problem :P I think the easiest candidates for swapping an LT are the Lasiq and the Djan Sniper. ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 8 1 FARZAN (Forward Observer) Rifle, Light Shotgun, Flash Pulse, Shock Mines, D-Charges / Pistol, CC Weapon. I'm always too scared to go with a hacker/lieutenant especially with the repeaters I already have on the board to provide easy access. But dropping the Kameel may be the best approach if I want to retain the feel I have for it. Will I ever actually need the Muyib to reload?
Trying to add a ghulam lt and downgrading some options. So originally this was just to poke fun of myself. But after rooting around I'm going to go outside my comfort zone. kesharq is the winner! What mission(s) would you take this list into, and which one(s) would you avoid like the plague? :D This isn't going to be some super competitive environment, but we've got 3 new players who have invested in the game and are looking to see what lies beyond 3 fusiliers and an ORC.
This has been my problem with Ramah Task Force. Yara has become my obvious Lt in most of my lists when I realize I have 300pt 6SWC and no Lt.
Saved from ignominious defeat last night by a last turn Total Control of a Sphinx, and running it back into his deployment zone so that it couldn't score or contest any zones. Not exactly a satisfying win.
Must be a matter of personal taste as that sounds incredible to me. :P (Although assuming he couldn't clear the possession you may not have needed to move it; possession is a null state)
Well. Taking it over on the top of turn 3 so that he lacked any way to get it back didn't strike me as a move of tactical genius, as face saving as it may have been. ;) I didn't check because it was a new guy and we skipped Classifieds and the like. We just did the basic scoring for the zones to illustrate how scenarios influence gameplay. So we skipped going into the weeds about null states, end of game, and scoring. Which sounds backwards now that I think about it. Sheshkiin is a beast. I had to kill her twice!
I mean, having last turn while retaining mission-relevant tools was basically the name of the game in zone scoring missions for as long as I know anything about the game (which is not very long, admittedly).
Both actually. They tag (ha-ha! Get it??) teamed the Sphinx since they could both ARO through a repeater that my Barid had set up on my turn. The Al Hawwa missed his unopposed roll while the Barid passed his face-to-face against a single die from the spitfire. The Sphinx had climbed up the building to get a line of fire on both the repeater on the ground and a cheap shot on the Barid.
Thread-O-Mancy!! The Azra'il has proven to be distressingly ineffective. So his contract has not been renewed and the team is in search for a permanent replacement. The Al Fasid (with heavy rocket launcher) will be brought up from the minors while the search progresses. I've a couple notions that I'll throw on the grill for the fire and salt the forums can produce. Keep the Al Fasid and glory in 3 minelayers making it really complicated for those combat drop/parachute(deployment zone) guys. It also plays into the movie in my head. Dispense with both the Al Fasid and the Azra'il big boys and replace with Asawira (part of Team Angry) and 'upgrade' the Zheyadan sniper to a Djanbazan sniper? Drop the heavy infantry and put in Yara and a Hafza with heavy rocket launcher surprise? Something even more brilliant. Feel free to discuss the expanding or narrowing of mission range with choice(s).
Are you primarily seeking to keep the Azrail replacement as an ARO unit? I'm actually generally curious as to the community's thoughts regarding HRLs in general. I've tried using them as ARO pieces either solo (Al Fasid) or in a fireteam (QK Sekban) and I've been regularly underwhelmed. The fact that its normal damage means that more often than not, the active trooper makes their save and never has to deal with continuous damage. The Janissary missile launcher has recently started to appeal to me, as its BS14 makes it equivalent to a 5-man core link Ghulam ML, while being much more difficult to displace (Arm 4 plus religious means you are likely to survive and can hold your position). The ML has the hit vs template flexibility of an HRL, but with a much more terrifying damage output that will make your opponent think twice about challenging them.
The Spitfire Asawira + Knauf come out a point cheaper than the HRL Al Fasid + Zheyaden Sniper. Unfortunately, I think it puts you half an SWC over the line. Unless you are counting on smoke shooting with the Djanbazan, Knauf seems like a better overall piece, especially in the active turn when you can take advantage of his burst 3 Multi Sniper. He can still do the same DAM 15 AP+Shock that the Djanbazan does, but he has he option to fire DAM15 + DA+Shock for targets that aren’t high armor. He’s not as tough as the Djan, but with mimetism and a higher BS skill he should be losing less face to faces. With his AP Heavy Pistol and his CC21 he’s harder to bully at close range than the Djan is. I’m not sure where you can scrape up the extra SWC you need.
