Ooookay, so I now play two armies I did not even know about? Sorry, but I prefer my armies somewhat visually cohesive. Still very much on the fence about buying the Japanese Traitorous Army pack with Haramaki apparently being out and Asuka Kisaragi doing a possible Toni Macayana my money isn't exactly flying out of my wallet. Of course we are! *glares in imperial agent* In the Emperor's name: Gimme!
I am guessing you have not read the fluff so far? In any case I would love to see you commenting on the Uprising story-line after you read it.
Also, characters: PanO: 4 characters + 2 Dire Foes Yu Jing: 1 character (not even a real person) + 1 Dire Foe In fact, every NA sectorial has more characters than Yu Jing, the second potence on the Sphere. Honestly, it would rock if they gave us Ko Dali back, but she is busy impersonating another IP's popular character, because it sucks being original (but CB's narrative absolutely rocks, right?) and besides, advancing the narrative and hosing factions by stealing characters away from them is only nice when you do it to Yu Jing, we don't want EC players to get upset.
What will i win if Yu Jing are evil and Japanese are also kinda evil but in a cool way and not really evil deep down because they are honorable samurai?
I hope they will write an article about the story because I have zero interest in the armies in the new book and no plan to purchase it
Wait and see, but frankly I do not think Infinity background has even come even distantly close to such bad writing.
The quality of the writing leaves a lot to be desired, at least in the spanish version (too hammy, but without charisma. Too direct and forcefull. Too short... Too artificial and lacking, I'd say), in the english is not as noticeable but even so... Also it's easy to get bored of the hype, if you read the entry, all units are the next best thing XD The plot, however, is not necessarily bad. But a tad too simplistic for me most of the time.
Okay, in all seriousness, we've been through this cycle. Could we maybe wait a year before we get this crusade going? Yu Jing has had a lot of releases (even if some of them are now NA2 releases) and a new character requires a new release slot. I'd be more happy to see unit releases than characters. Let's come back in a year and see if we've gotten an Agent character - something that's sort of required to dispel the Blofeldt Twirly-Mustasche McEvil image that's amassing around Yu Jing. Although... a rather massive human rights violation committed by the Kempeitai would work wonders in dispelling THAT faction's shiny-goody-two-shoes underdog image - and justify why Kempei are in game with that name.
For me it's the writing of a 17 year old roleplayer, to be honest, but to each their own, I'm glad you find it enjoyable. @Mahtamori, what releases are you talking about? I saw Yu Jing getting resculpts (sorely needed, by the way) but new releases? Where? And why should i wait a year when i chose YJ to play a not goody two shoes hyperpotence but now I'm left with a faction with less characters than sectorials that are not even a factor on the Sphere's politics and background and were just released? And in fact i trust CB will give YJ a purer flavour now as it's a faction with gorgeus miniatures that would sell really well if they took the time to give it some relatable lore, but they better hurry up.
Have you even watched the BoW Video and Bostria's comment on them? Have you even read what comparable companies produce as background material? even in the role play sector were they sell virtually only fluff?
Resculpts are releases. Yu Jing is one of the factions with most number of releases the past two years (I am no longer certain if Yu Jing is the most released faction due to JSA desertation), so there hasn't been a shortage of releases. Of important note is that prior to this release frenzy, Yu Jing was the least up-to-date faction with the highest number of units with no miniatures or old Gen1 or Gen2 hand-sculptures, so there is absolutely no ground to call the release frenzy unjustifiably intense, but we also have to acknowledge that there have been a lot of them at the expense of other factions. I think you should wait and stay focused on what's reasonable because I sure as hell don't want Yu Jing to take the King Whinge crown off of Pan-O's head. I had enough of being auto-labelled a whiner because I played Eldar, thank you very much. I have not listened to the audio, I've read Google's transcripts. I'll cringe my way through the videos since you ask, as soon as I can find headphones to do it with.
So now they are safe in the fuhrerbunker? Great. Are they sending Felix Steiner to recover Kuiramori? Der Banzai Steiner was ein befehl! Desu!
Badly cooked meals are badly cooked meals, even if the other restaurants offer crude or expired "food"... Using the "but the others do it worst!" is not a valid argument to demonstrate something's quality, in other words. But hey, other companies hire writers sometimes. Dan Abnett's name comes to my mind, for example. Strugeon's law is in effect, of course, but little of the background in Infinity engages me. Maybe because it goes straight from "faction size" to "character size" with no step inbetween, totally blocking any kind of suspension of disbelief. And of course one can only take so many "this unit is the awesomenest among the awesome units" paragraphs without getting tired of the fast food.
