The BoW vid on the Uprising book showed off the roster for the Ikari Company! It looks like an interesting mix of YJ, Merc, and Haqq units, but the most intriguing thing for me is all the special fireteams. What do you think they'll be?
This list looks pretty awesome, lots and lost of face punching! There does seem to be a lack of solid specialist choices though, so be careful! That one Ninja is going to have to do a lot of button pushing.
The Ninja and the Cube Jagger will have to do a lot of work. But Karakuris are nothing to sniff at, and they are specialists.
Looks pretty straightforward. Low on Camo, low on extreme tech, but big on smoke, chain rifles, big guns. Looks like the kind of force that will want to bludgeon the opponent down, then pick up the pieces/push the buttons as the smoke clears. Most Specialists will need to hike out of the DZ to reach them, but that shouldn't be too difficult given the smoke and firepower present.
I am kind of curious and worried about all those 'special' fireteams. I don't even want to speculate. Very interested in the Brawlers though.
I'm curious who the Brawlers actually are. They are in DBS, Ikari and StarCo sectorials... What's their story, I wonder? Also, do we know anything about Ikari aside from the list? Come to think about it, do we know what the Uprising book will be coming out?
That's doubly interesting since the only specialist Wu Ming is an FO. In a 5 man you would have a WIP 16 B3 FO...
I can't seem to find the following in the armyV. Can someone shed some light on them. Tanko Zensenbutai Daiyokai Also is there anything Special I should look for in WuMing? Unless their special link is really special they seem a little generic. ------------------ Since I already have DBS, I'm tempted to expand my NA2 to cover some of Ikari. I already have all the Haqq models listed, and this gives me a reason to pull out all my Yuan Yuan from QK. Considering the Yuan Yuan & Bashis AVA you can completely swarm a table edge with smoke & models. Its a 80 points for 8 models. Toss in 2x 8pt remotes, for a couple regular orders and you get a mean swarm list. If the YY go first and drop smoke, your Bashi then arrive with HoloEchoes with no aros. On the following turn your opponent has 12 models to chose from. He would have to shoot the YY first otherwise they risk shooting Holoechoes and missing, while the YY drop smoke making further shots even imposible. What ever survives after the smoke clears can use Coordinated orders to move forward and template whatever is left. This leaves you 204 points for your 'Main' Battlegroup to do what ever it wants. If you have your Rui Shi (MSV2 Spitfire) move up and the smoke gives it free reign. If for some reason you can move it up and go into suppression your oppoent has some tough choices to make, shoot the MSV2 with supression or shoot the smoke thats about to appear.. Basically you will be sacrificing cheap models to just flood the area with smoke so the rest of you army can move up. Considering the YY can't get cover just leave them in the open get the most possible aros. At first I was thinking the keisotsu where a bit of the waste since the brawlers are there, but you will need cheap links to maximize the 204 points left. Below is rough idea of that list Yu Jing ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 KEISOTSU Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. They are new troops whose profiles are unknown. But the first ones are probably Haramaki replacements, and the second ones are S5 HI. As for Wu Ming, they are a nice, baseline HI with some interesting options.
How did CB select the units for these new sectorials - throw back a fifth of whiskey, throw darts at Army Builder and decide to stop at ~ 30 units each? Not saying that either sectorial is OP, just that there's zero cohesion in the unit choices at all. By the numbers... DBS contains 19 profiles. Ikari contains 29 and Star contains 30. DBS contains a mix from two factions (PanO and Haqq) plus a bunch of Mercs. Ikari contains units from 5 different factions + mercs. No wonder CB updated the official proxy rules.
If you watched 2nd video Bostria stated that there's more surprises for DBS waiting in the book. So don't worry, your Druze will be put at same level as the other two merc companies.
Bostria said these are the bad guys to the bad guys. Like if Druze have committed a few war crimes, these guys make the druze look like the heroes.
I mean, look at unit selection and their fluff. They took every second scoundrel in the game and dumped them all into this one...
I am really triggered by the Ikari. There are some of my favourite miniatures together with a healthy variety of styles in this army: a painting dream! Probably it's a dream, but what about Bashi Bazouk regulars instead of irregulars? I kinda like the idea of deploying them as decoys from the start of the game thanks to their holoprojectors. That would require an increase of the points cost, but it seems to me they could be a very interesting option.
@Albedo that's what excites me as well with them having access to a nice variety of miniatures you could really go to town with them in the painting department, not to mention the conversion possibility.
Am I the only one that expects some sort of cameo for the Ikari Warriors videogame or King of Fighters? For those who don't know them:
