Hey, Coming back to TAK lately and I've been trying to include a tankhunter or their boss in my lists, but each time I end up choosing an other guy. So my question is, beside the CoC or Lt profil, do you still use tankhunters ?
Haven't played much TAK lately but think in the new TAG-Meta the Speznaz is now for dealing with soft targets while a Tankhunter is better for cracking open harder targets. I can see fielding him when lacking other Anti-Armor options, most likely the Autocannon. While giving them AP mines reinforces this role, I think it's a joke to give it to a unit which usually resides in the DZ. Alternative would be a linked Frontovik with AP Sniper but less of a surprise.
Used to run the AP:HMG version in N3 and really liked it, but that might be down to my local meta. Also had success with the "base" AP Rifle load-out, with the bonus 4" deployment - especially in the mission that gave them an extra ADHL, (B2 with surprise shot came in very handy!) Not sure about N4, as I haven't been able to play it yet.
Following with interest, as I’m trying to decide whether to convert my painted AP HMG Tankhunter to be carrying a Autocannon.
The autocannon hunter is one of the best looking reasons to play Ariadna, only second to the wolves and the tiptoeing scout. He once one-shotted my Marut in ARO - unfortunately the sophotect-in-tow just fixed the bunny-bot and she continued the massacre.
Thanks for your answers guys. I have the feeling that this regiment is not as used as it is iconic The autocanon profile is one that question me the most. As an active armour piercer I think I would prefer the ap hmg. Instead, for ARO duty I would choose the cheaper missile launcher. In both cases as a TAK player, solid links options seems more attractive and secure. I also feel that the competition with the spetsnazs as backup plan is hard. In N3 I also used a lot the coc forward deployment option. In late game it was a great polyvalent piece. But with few points more and the loss of FD I leave him on the bench. I think for that point range they miss a cool option such minelayer for the heavy guns carriers or forward deployment for the close range hunters. No one mentioned their leader Vassily, what is your opinion on him ?
I used the markman rifle load-out of Vassily a lot in N3 and he tended to be quite a threat, cos of the T2 ammo - especially well positioned on suppression fire. His biggest downside is that he can be quite fragile if a hit makes it through.
I think you've hit on the appeal of the AC profile without meaning to here. It's better in the active than the ML due to burst and range, and a much more devastating threat in ARO than the HMG, if you're looking for flexibility then the AC can work well on both turns.
Exactly, in that regard the Tankhunter has a loadout for every taste. His biggest weakness is the strong competition within the sectorial ;) Comparing him to a full fireteam is not fair imo, few single units could win there. Apart from the AP-HMG he is rather for generating thread than pure math. Gesendet von meinem Pixel 4a mit Tapatalk
