Having only played the first scenario we had a couple of questions relating to switches. When rolling defence dice which switches are available to enemies and characters? For example the Nox hacker has a switch to stun, is this available A) whenever the Nox rolls defence dice regardless of target B) only against hackable opponents when rolling defence C) never because the Nox isn't using the hacking equipment to defend Similarly when Qiang is equipped with the heavy shotgun and defends against hacking can he use shields to generate successes A) whenever he rolls defence dice B) when he rolls defence dice and has line of sight C) never because he isn't using the shotgun to defend Thanks for your input!
Some of the other skills make it more clear, but each roll/equipment states what switches are available. In your examples, no switches are available because those aren't the equipment being used.
Thanks, that's what seems most logical but the wording in the rules didn't make it clear. I assume the Nox leader's ability that adds a switch to other Nox would be available but I'm still not entirely sure how to tell. Is it that to use a switch it must be on the character/enemy card as a "top level" ability, i.e. not as a subsection of a skill?
There are two kind of Switches. "Skill" Switches: can be activated when you roll for the relevant Skill/Attack General Switches: can be activated on every roll made. If there is no skill or attack linked, it is a General Switch. And remember that Enemies ALWAYS spend their symbols to activate switches and they do this BEFORE the party.
