While playing OSS, Phalanx, and ALEPH, and assuming that your first combat group is going to be around 9-13 orders (tac awareness and LT orders included) and your second combat group will be 5-8 orders, what roles do those groups play? Does your first combat group do damage while your second accomplishes objectives? Do you put the Marut or Achilles in the second group and spend the bulk of your orders accomplishing the mission and setting up defenses? Do you split the attention of each group using fireteams and forward deployed specialists? Inquiring minds want to know.
Personally I like having units that needs to eat some orders to do secondary things in my second battlegroup so my primary active units can have as much as possible action. EVO devices, a Naga who wants to push a button or plonk down a mine, a pitcher, a doctor/engineer fix, or a smoke-spewing myrmidon readying for a Marut to do murder. Posthuman proxies are nice to have in the secondary group since you can use command tokens to move all of them at once to your main group later. And off-table orders as well, so they don't take away from your main pool.
for me, the second order pool is for aro pieces that are supposed to die. or Simple units who require few orders to perform their designated function but are important that they have the orders to spend. For instance, camo skirmishers are great in the 2nd pool as they generally aren't going full rambo (if they are, move into first pool with command tokens), but do like 1 or 2 orders to shoot/hack nearby targets of opportunity. doctors and engineers are useful in 2nd pool, especially if you have good aro pieces that you know are going to get knocked unconscious and is worthwhile to reawaken. hidden models are good in 2nd pool. not to "hide" them anymore as if you say you have 14 order producing models, the opponent probably know something is amiss. but it is useful to have their order taken out of the smaller group who was built with limited orders in mind than taking away an order from the rambo who wanted the full 10.
