So as someone new (well technically started years ago with some Aleph models but never really took it anywhere) I've not really got much of a handle on basically what's going on with the CA at this point in time.

I've seen on the Human Sphere website that most of the range appears to be still on the market, a handful of models fully retired and some replaced with new updated sculpts; which seems to be a more recent thing for the CA in general.

I also know there's more to come with the recent Kickstarter (well recent in terms of its shipping and such). I would assume that models will be coming out from that on individual sale; though I've no idea what hints or information there is on that.

So are there any hints/rumours/resources info you can give on what's happened to the CA in teh past model wise and what's going to (or likely to) happen in the future with them. How is the army developing; are there models to avoid before they are wiped from the game or models with classic sculpts worth going after before the stock runs dry or they are pulled from sale.

Same for the lore, I see there's a few books, though again its an area I've never really looked into to know much about with regard to the game.

First off, the Kickstarter miniatures are not getting a retail release, however there are/will be alternative sculpts available (Nox, Cadmus, Seed Soldier, Speculo) or forthcoming (Jayth, Aida).

The Exrah were removed from the game entirely at the end of N2, their 4 vanilla only profiles and 5 models were discontinued mainly due to low sales and sculpts that wore out the moulds much faster than usual. At the same time several other profiles and species were added such as the Umbra, Sygmaa, Unidrons, etc.

Morats models were going through an overhaul at about the same time, their range was one of the first to be upgraded to the new N3 standard of CAD sculpting. Their range is now both modern and pretty much complete

With N3 Human Sphere the Onyx Contact Force were added as a playable Sectorial. Their range was CAD sculpted from the start and is also mostly complete. There were a few Shasvastii "leftovers" (Noctifer, Malignos, Sphinx) but they've all had a resculpt of some form now, with the Noctifer being part of a December release.

Shasvastii underwent a massive overhaul in both rules and miniature design last year after being in stasis for much of N3. Some units are new (Nox, Jayth), some changed most Beyond recognition (Gwailo, Caliban), while others disappeared (Aswang, though their role has been absorbed by the Mentors and Caliban to a degree). The new style Shasvastii range has been grown by the Code One releases and is still expanding.

The print copy of the Core Rulebook contains a good amount of fluff for the CA, the Third Offensive book covers the CombArmy's big push on Paradiso and is almost all fluff. There is also a Combined Army sourcebook for the Modiphius RPG that's available from Drivethrurpg or in dead tree mode.

Ahh the KS models not getting a retail release is a surprise, if only because normally model companies use that to generate funds for main products rather than side ones. Granted Infinity is in a much healthier position to make alternative sculpts and moulds up from existing profits; its not like the semi-recent Confrontation KS (which also was not going to retail release the models they case from a KS) which has been a never ending nightmare for those who backed and is now burning to the ashes (parent company in administration).

That aside it sounds like the CA has had a nice lions share of attention recently! The lack of the models from the KS appearing also explains why I found some alternative concept art when casually searching. Though a shame that the big "end game boss" monster won't see retail; even accepting that infinity is a skirmish not wargame.

I'll keep an eye out for the 3rd offensive book to add to my to get list along with the Core Book once I've exhausted myself on models (since the core book isn't cheap)
