Just picked up a pair of older Shavastii models and I'm a little confused on assembly and wondered if any here would be able to advise 1) Corax Spec Ops; she comes with three additional weapons, however the weapons are bare weapons like you'd find on a gun rack. They don't have connection points or hands or anything to connect them to the model - so how do they work with the model? 2) The Speculo Killer; has 3 small spike tabs. One appears to go between her shoulder blades on her back, but I can't find where the other two tiny tabs go on the model as there isn't a clear missing slot or gap (even the one between the shoulders could easily be left off and not missed and I only spotted it on the product photos)
1) They're loose weapons for conversions, they're not designed to fit on the Spec-Op specifically. 2) That sprue of 3 spines is common to a lot of old Shas blisters, I think the Speculo only uses two of them leaving one spare.
Ah curious that they'd give the Spec-Op the right weapons for the profile, but then not have them easily fit the model. Did anyone ever do any conversions worth seeing with her using the weapons (that might also offer up some ideas to what they tried to make them work and what doesn't work). Also any idea where the second spine/part would go on the Speculo? Like I said I can easily see where the larger one goes between her shoulder blades. Though if its a common part then it might be that she only uses the one.
It might just be one spine on the Speculo, never built one myself but I have a few spare PanO bunny ears for the same reason. I did use the weapons from my PanO and Ariadna Spec-Ops but they all got used for weapon swaps on models that weren't the Spec-Op themself. Multi Rifle on an Aquila Guard, HMG on a Spetznaz (there was no official model at the time) and so on.
I think the Speculo's spines go of a forearm... Can't remember, and can't find a photo of the pieces online, but you can find the old model assembled and painted using google easily. The weapons in the SpecOps are extras, but they won't fit aside from glued to her back or so, unless you make a hard conversion changing her arms as well. I still have a lot of those weapons (I think I have all Specops but for PanO & YJ... and I never glued Alkê or Achilles' spitfires), and some weapons with extra arms (Myrmydon subofficer, Mowang, Ariadna Specops...). They can be used to make a panoply, at the very least...
The position of the Spec-Ops' outstretched hand is actually the perfect height for the sniper rifle. I put the butt on the ground and glued the muzzle to her hand. Doesn't look half bad.
Thanks all! Sabian that's a neat idea, especially since a lot of the model poses in the game are often quite showy rather than battle ready styles.
