Makes sense, thanks for the response. I think this is basically what I was getting at - I absolutely agree that the UKR is good for his points, but his cost is the restricting factor. The main issue is that his downgrade options (Marauder AP Spitfire, Minutemen) offer so much less compared to the points they save that especially in USA, where some of our best units tend to be really damn cheap, that tradeoff feels even less worthwhile than it otherwise could have been.

So while USA does have a lot of great options in the 20s-30s range, I don't think there's anything that compares for his specific role - a shooty and tough pointman with a good gun that can stack mods - which is what makes listbuilding feeling restrictive, and makes him feel way too attractive in comparison. I don't think UKR is a must-take in 100% of scenarios, but his overwhelming effectiveness combined with 6 pt Desperados and Minutemen still feeling really underwhelming is what piles up into this feeling of inflexibility.

I think basically everyone agrees that Minutemen need something. I personally want them to get Dogged or Regeneration, and a Paramedic option. X-visors on everyone sounds great too. It would be great if we could get a mid-high 30s Minuteman profile that could compete with the UKR in terms of general effectiveness. A BS13 AP HMG with NCO just don't cut it against paying 10-12 pts more for Tac Aware, MSV1+Mimetism, NWI+Shock immune, template weapon, and being a CC beast on top of everything else.

Soo... what's the current state of my beloved USARF? Are we over the hill or already in the bin?

After nearly 2 years since i last played a game and an evening updating my old 3 Lists (... well, mostly only eyeballing what to change), any tips for an old noob what's halve way decent and what's too situational? Any pitfalls for my still N3 tuned thoughts?

btw: Here the lists i've made.

It's playable, but the current top-tier armies seem to be particularly good against it. Listbuilding is also very samey.

Basically exept every battle to be an uphill fight, right? I'm okay with that and already build a few new lists... cant wait to test them!

Listbuilding: Well, USARF is one if the (if not the one) sectorial with the least amount of individual Profiles... so multible of the same Profile are kinda par for the course.

Sorry to hijack this thread, - how do you use Van Zant or airborne rangers? any tips appreciated.
We've not played many games, and searching online for tactics beings up N3 stealth and silent knife tactics that don't exist anymore.
Is the CC22 a trap on Zant? Should the goal just be to shoot cheap mooks in the back?
We feel like there must be something more to it that we're missing as the 'Van Zant Rampage' seems to get shut down pretty quick by a bad CC roll or a template.

I typically use Van Zant to hunt the cheaper, squishier units and lower my opponents order pool. After you down a few units, seeing Van Zant even possibly on your list makes your opponent have to think about deployment carefully. It can go badly if he gets deployed in a less than optimal position but for the most part he’s really useful at lowering order pools.

It sounds like you’ve had some bad luck with him but he is essentially a massive distraction carnifex that deals out punishment then dies. I have used him to come in behind my opponent and remove his LT more than once. Van Zant died each time but it was a decent trade off.

I haven’t yet used the airborne rangers, I literally bought them this week! So I cannot speculate how they may be used as their deployment abilities are slightly different to Van Zants.

Firstly, stop summoning a great old one with your username! None of us need a gribbly old god stomping about…

Secondly, I quite like these lists you’ve done. I’m a little biased towards favouring the first as it contains Rosie and she’s always done excellent work for me. Hope you’re enjoying USAriadna! I had trouble building lists with them at first but they have some decent tricks.

On another note, can someone please tell me where I’ve read that USAriadna has built a Coca Cola and basically a Budweiser plant? I thought it was in the modiphius book but I can’t find it anywhere. It’s entirely possible I imagined it.

The Coca-Cola plant fluff had been around forever IIRC, I certainly remember hearing it before the Modiphius RPG came about. There's a good chance it dates back to when Infinity was a homebrew RPG played by a small group of Galician nerds.

Thank you! I have been searching the modiphius book intensely as well as the rule books and the modiphius rpg main book and couldn’t see anything. I thought I was imagining things but since you remember too it must have come from somewhere!

I plan to try to change my username after IGL4... so once i've found a good one no summoning great old ones.

I'm glad you like my lists. I updated them in the mean time. Got games under my belt and used the experience from them to build new lists... but the double Haris, with an 3man core and an 3man Haris is something i started to really enjoy playing. You will miss 6S from time to time (could make a 4man team for it if you like) and the extra +3BS is also not here but deploying and moving around 3man teams is much, much easier.

Here one of my current saved lists. Fireteams are:
Grunt Paramedic, Unknown Ranger and Wild Bill
Marauder HRL, Marauder Paramedic and Rosie

This is quite the list. I haven’t used the beast hunters yet so have no idea how they’ll perform but the desperadoes are incredible as sacrificial “run at the enemy and cause havoc” units. Wild Bill and Rosie… excellent choices. They pretty much are always in my USAriadna lists. I haven’t used the unknown ranger much as I like using Van Zant to terrify my friend but the unknown ranger’s stat line speaks for itself, it’s an excellent choice. That grunt infiltration with heavy flamer is the best 11 points ever spent. A really nice list!

The Coca-Cola plant is located in the USAriadna state Capital of Kennedy, Fairview. (N3: Human Sphere Guide Book pg 85). It is also briefly mentioned on page 63 of N3: Core Book.

How is USAriadna since new fireteam changes?
We have a USA player in our meta and it seems like its extremely limited in units, options and flexibility.
We were discussing maybe 2 haris, 1 core could help with flexibility, but really it seems like more units are needed to bring the army in-line with more recent releases. Probably doesn't need brand new stuff, although a motorised airborne sounds fun, porting over some of the Kosmo units, or bringing in some nomads or mercs would probably be fine.
Very limited access to D-charges, DA CC and hackers make a lot of ITS missions an up-hill struggle and those that exist have no camo or token states (minus the beast hunter) and 4-4MOV, so probably aren't getting far anyway.

What do you think is needed? Are they OK as-is?

Hi, a few months ago I was able to acquire the old USRF box with 3 Grunts, an Foxtrot, a Minuteman, a Maurauder, a Maverick and the Devil Dog.

My first game will be Supremacy, so pushing buttons and holding quadrants seem to be quite important . So I came up with the following list:

    gTAJdXNhcmlhZG5hFVVTUkYgbmFjaCBkZW0gVXBkYXRlIIEsAgEHAYDoAQcAAoDmAQUAA4DmAQIABIPeAQEABYDmAQkABoLwAYoLAAeBCQEBAAIIAYMJAQMAAoLVAQUAA4LVAQYABIDrAQgABYDrAQgABoDmAQYAB4DmAQYACILWAQIA

Because of the recent update I'm not quite sure if my ideas work like intended... so I'm asking for feedback on the list.

    Thanks in advance!

May be al little late, but honestly you only need to switch the UKR and the Minuteman NCO and you have two pure teams to go ham... or maybe downgrade the Minuteman NCO to an Grunt HMG and use the freed 14P for other unit upgrades.

    Btw... let's discuss Blackjacks!

I LOVE the new Haris for them! It comes in three flavours:
    - 112, Rosie + Jack
    - 112 + Jacks
    - Only Jacks, no wildcards allowed.
I now played the 112 + T2 Sniper & AP HMG and really liked their performace. This Team is relative durable and has weapons to engage near all targets on the Table (minus the heavy mimet ones). The extra Burst from the Haris is exactly what the Jacks needed and it gives us an nice fall-back team in case the first has beed guided into the ground.

I am finally jumping back into the game after 2ish COVID years. Looking at my lists and new stuff sounds good. I still feel like N4 tactical windowing punched ariadna in the face by reducing our orders to 15 while giving everyone else was get tons of extra orders stretching them out. But I guess we just stuck that way.

It also still feels like USARF is limited by its good options and will be very character dependent. Good news is links seem improved. You can now take a grunt haris, BJ haris, marauder/MM haris, Maverick. It seems like there is never not a reason to take a Haris and a core.

The BJ haris sounds kind of good as a secondary link. 1 Jack, 112, then either Rosie or a second jack sounds pretty good to me. I like the sound of mixing the AP HMG and Sniper with a doctor as well. Seems like it would be good for the second 5 man fire team as a risking that bad trade option to allow for UKR led primary team take the less risky ones. I also works well on the defense with Arm 8 cover and Long Range bands for both the Sniper and HMG.

I find my list having problems fitting in all the good Hardcase camo though. Every irregular order kind of hurts now from how I used to play.
