Won’t help me with the limited stuff sadly. Gonna end up paying premium for that I suspect, as I have more money than sense.
Some retailers ordered more pledges than needed, for people that missed the Kickstarter. I know Shiv games in Utah had some extra a month or two back. Sadly Defiance just isn't feasible for CB as a general retail product, so it was Kickstarter or not make it. I guess there's always the possibility of them making the original game available as an add-on for a theoretical Defiance 2 Kickstarter campaign, but that's all hopes and wishes at this point.
Such is life, hopefully its successful enough to get that or another round. God willing, it’ll come around again If not, ebay it is.
Maybe announce in the Kickstarter comments that you want to buy it / take over a pledge? I have seen one or two people asking for a refund just recently (way behind the deadline though). Maybe you are lucky?!
@Koni Do we know any updated on the status of the ship going from China to CB Headquarters? When do you expect to start shipping to EU backers?
Oh, look! Hawkwood will be in January releases! Good thing I didn't get my pledge just for him. I wonder how many of these 'exclusive' miniatures will stay exclusive by the time we get the boxes. (Yeah, I get it that original release dates went FUBAR, but still I'd be pretty upset If they release regular Kusanagi before Kickstarter shipments).
Different miniature, different pose, different loadout. The January release is the K1 version, Defiance has the Red Fury
I guess, depends on the reasons you backed in the first place. I'll be happy to get the sculpts whenever they come, but then I also backed for the game itself, and I rarely buy anything without a pre-order bonus on release due to customs, shipping, etc. The promise of all sculpts being exclusive to the Kickstarter still hasn't been broken. Is it also reasonable for CB to shuffle round their Infinity release schedule to compensate for delays caused by a global pandemic so Kickstarter backers feel special? Is that fair on people that didn't/couldn't back Defiance? Especially with White Company being the "Flagship" NA2 for N4, is delaying the Hawkwood blister fair on people that want to play WhiteCo?
Yeah, but once people start getting the stuff that we were suppposed to get in June, those minis are not "special release" anymore, they're just an alt-sculpt which we've prepaid for and yet have to wait for much longer than the general population. It's reasonable for CB to professionally manage expectations and customer satisfaction, especially since they never ever had any qualms in playing up our FOMO to the max - especially so with Defiance. So if we feel like we're "missing out" again, because everyone else and their mom start getting those cool minis and we don't have ours yet, then it's definitely a problem for the company to handle, not us. That's a non-sequitur in a game chock full of proxies. It's not like they can't play WC without it.
We're getting exclusive sculpts, not exclusive units, so it doesn't change things much. I am more irked by Saladin in Starmada than by Hawkwood. Hawkwood is nowhere else, and fair that others can get. Saladin has another sculpt already, even if it is old and not as cool looking as either new one. Meanwhile, I honestly can't believe Cho hasn't been released in a general release yet. Cho should really have been in Starmada, not Saladin. Saladin wasn't even IN O12 when Defiance launched. But those are minor things, and I'm certainly not mad that they're getting a general release Hawkwood before I get my Outcast Hawkwood. I just want MY Outcast sooner. If they had delayed Outcast to make room to ship out general release, then I'd be furious, but the two aren't related so I don't care. The Lynx is the same way, I honestly can't believe they didn't ship Lynx yet. And Varangians (which are not in Defiance). Starmada introducing new units while old ones remain unsculpted for a year and a half, but that's a different discussion that has little to do with Defiance. I'm sure there are plenty that bought Defiance to get minis that were otherwise not on the release schedule, but it shouldn't be a major irritant since it was pretty well known they weren't exclusive units. Except the core heroes, I certainly don't think they should make a Defiance pack with the 6 core heroes in it, that'd be a different matter.
Though, Hawkwood is in the Wave2 that was due for like Nov/ Dec originally. It'll still be late, and after the general release, so not a big change, just want to make sure you're not expecting Hawkwood soon. :) But it is also easier to resculpt the model once the basics are done and do a general release. I certainly won't bother with the general release Hawkwood, and wonder how hard the sales will be hit for him given the Defiance buyers access.
I know I personally like both versions, so will likely pick up both, but that's definitely something to consider.
I only bought the base pledge, not expansions, so I’m eagerly awaiting general release Kendrat. Seeing Hawkwood so soon gives me hope.
I'd rather they do a couple more Krakots, but leave Jaan and Kendrat unique to the kickstarter, but won't complain if they do general release. I've missed out on plenty of models, so don't begrudge people the availability, but at the same time some of the characters should be sort of unique to the Defiance game.
