So... after just decimating my normal play buddies with the smart missiles I am kind of stunned. I knew they would be better with all the new hacking rules and Nomads hacking coverage, but I did not expect them to perform THAT much better. Keep on eye on this...
U-Turn going away also makes it better. Honestly, if it does need nerfing my preference would be giving all HD (and Hackers with just Zero Pain) U-Turn.
Giving U-turn to all HD's (remember, many AHD profiles been replaced with HDs) will make guided barely usable again. It's still 5 shots per turn, no way anyone would waste their tactical window orders on something that can be negated so easilly ('cause enemy can also dodge from missile). I kinda like how it is right now with targeted state. You can force opponent to waste orders on reset just to avoid being shot next turn. And unless you are playing druze army (or some other with linkable bot), missile bot is quite a big swc investment.
Outside of nomads guided isn't a huge deal and more something that may get taken advantage of if the situation presents itself. In Nomads (and a handful of other factions) its is a far more reliable strategy that can be used to reliably to carpet bomb key pieces out of existence thanks to tools like AAD repeater sources, Good BS linked pitchers and fast pandas.
Guided Missile also increase in effectiveness when playing against Sectorials over Vanilla. Link teams clustered together are excellent targets for missiles.
That does look like a fun list, but it is begging to be put in LoL. I would be tempted to use a Taskmaster LT as I suspect that would make it harder.
Welcome to Nomads, you must be new here, all our lists beg to be LoL'd. Also full disclosure that list was I wonder if I can, more than something that is competitively viable (dumb fun meme for dumb fun's sake). Though with the amount of mines and koalas this list throws out at deployment you can reasonably protect the LT, or at least make it incredibly resource intensive to go after them.
That is right up there with the CJC 5 TAG list, AVA:Total morlocks with Moderator friend, and 12 Crazykoalas on the leader board of terrible lists your opponent will never see coming. I might actually need to try that out.
I have played the 12 koala list and it was great, admittedly the mission had one of those godawful exclusion zones and I made infiltration rolls to also clog up their side of the table. worked great. Another one to add to the list is Szalamandra with a twin HM ML core backing it up, in N3 people didnt pack enough hackers or ap to punch through it half the time.
I stumbled on this today as well. Can anyone explain why Lizzie costs the same as Szally? Szalamandra has +3BTS, a gun with +1dmg and a pilot with +1B contender and a KHD. The only thing I can see on the Lizard is the +1B GL, but even that's only on one loadout, and the HFT loadout costs the same. How does that add up?
Pilot profile is slightly better, having an SMG for Suppressive fire and not counting as a Hacker (so can't be sniped by KHDs). ... Honestly though if you're choosing between the two, unless you really want that GL there's not really a reason to take the Lizzie over the Sally.
The MULTI HMG has the slightly better ARO. Maybe we are paying a tiny premium for a full-blown TAG in a less direct firepower sectorial? But I know what you mean, the non-GL should be slightly cheaper. In fairness so, this feels minor to me. More important would be a modern sculpt, at least something that look remotely like a lizard to fit the theme of Nomad TAGs. I know this abomination has its fans here but come on, it's the year of TAGs and although I don't like them in general, it would be funny to scare my opponent from time to time.
Funnily enough, I am one of those fans. I guess that's why I'm a bit annoyed why she's not cheaper. I like that old model the most from all the Nomad TAGs. I don't know, those nasty claws and the hunched silhouette look super menacing to me. The only part that really betrays her age is her height. She barely stands out between the Geckos, which are supposed to be light TAGs. But I agree with you that I'm really looking forward to the day they give her a new model. Would love to see what that looks like. Her and the Zonds. My god, the Zonds. The great grandfathers of remotes...
As somewhat of a new player, why does it have the better ARO? That would only apply to Bakunin though, not to vanilla.
Right, my mistake. So even less of a reason for her to be as expensive. That at most counters the +1B of the HRMC in the active turn. Then you still got +3BTS on Szally. I think that must be it. And not just that – the Lizard Pilot is a Specialist, too. So I guess it's +3BTS vs. better pilot. Still not sure that's justified. +3BTS is huge, especially on a TAG. And who really picks a TAG for the pilot (not looking at you Iguana)?
The Iguana has an Operator, not a Pilot (check its rules: no Pilot!). It is not the exception to break your rule ;)
Don't compare Lizzie to a Dragoes either. That'll give you conniptions. But the reality is Lizzie with HFT has always been a bad choice in comparison with Sally, so it's not like this is a change.
