Maybe Marksman Rifles on a couple of profiles? That would give them a distinct area that they outperform all the comparable units, without changing anything too much. That was Briscard's thing in N3 (MSV1 and MMRs for everyone). I don't think so. I was proposing it in terms of differentiating them from for example the Karhu. Baghs could be ported over with identifical profiles to the ones in N3 and still find a home.
I can see a Marksman Rifle Bagh-Mari being well received. And I think it suits the theme of the unit too. But we shall see.
Multi Marksman Rifle is a weapon that suits PanO to a t, would be good to see it somewhere beside Aquila. There was no Mono minelayer in the game ever, but yeah Scouts and Muyibs lost their special ones, so it's doubtful we would get one. But having at least some proper mine selection would be good.
I'm at a loss to contribute beyond "Yeah what, @barakiel said" so...yeah. I think the updates to shotguns obviously make unchanged Bagh Mari even more toolboxy, and I honestly ran more than I should have even before the updates, so I'll be happy to run better profiles en masse. I do agree with some other posters that we might as well have 'SAA ORCs' at this point, and maybe signature Peacemaker profile or something. I guess more generally, I'm overall very curious as to how much the second wave updated sectorials will be reworked versus simply upgraded. I know we saw some serious overhauls on Bolts, various Steel Phalanx characters (Atalanta comes to mind), and other units that managed to be updated first outside of their home sectorials - but I'm not sure that indicates a broader trend overall or if it's just those. Either way I'm excited - I'll be happy when my Tiger Hunters get to hit the table again.
I think there's a lot of consensus about Bagh Mari being in a decent place due to shotgun changes. MSV1 + Template weapon, even without smoke, is still a really good insurance policy. Shock Army was already great in defense with links, minelayer, etc... Now, having direct template wielders who can see through smoke is solid. Bagh Mari vs Karhu: Karhu certainly infringed on the unique nature of Bagh Mari, but it's also hard to argue with Mimetism + Visor as being a very easy, useful default for PanO list design. My favorite thing about Bolts isn't even the unit themselves, but the fact that CB found a new, innovative way to reinforce the superior firepower of PanO without relying on Mimetism + Visor. For the Bagh Mari themselves... Minelayer, shotguns, MULTI Sniper are all useful and fairly unique to them. Boarding Shotguns and Combi + LSG are pretty useful in both active turn and ARO. I'm not sure massive changes are necessary for them, though I'd certainly appreciate any new attention they receive. Overall, it's fascinating to see just how many Shock Army ideas have been proliferated to other armies. Heavy infantry with auxbot, Visor + Mimetism unit in mixed links, the HRMC TAG.
Can someone explain this to me? I know it's probably got to do with the new Peripheral rules but I'm not quite picking up on the interaction and changes.
Basically it boils down to the fact that if Scylla runs Cybermask her Peripherals also go into the IMP state, and because hacking through a Repeater no longer reveals the trooper bearing the Repeater it gives an added layer of protection. The 3 units that could get a marker state repeater in N4 (Moran with limited Camo, Lu Duan with Holoecho, Bit+Kiss with KHD) were all swiftly errata'd.
Ah, okay that makes a lot more sense than the rabbit hole I was running down. Appreciate the clarification.
This is a tangential question but I can't find where it was said when the extra sectorials were getting their rules for N4. November?
You know what I would like to see in Shock? bring them back! but I know that is not going to happen right now. It would nice to see new shock figures.
At very least a Montesa sculpt would be great, especially since it's in two of three of the supported sectorials.
I'd love to seem them if only so I could get my hands on a tikbalang. Not a lot of ideal options to proxy one of the few S6 TAGs in the game.
Okay, this is real paranoid hours, but hear me out. The Infinity Army seems to let you filter based on some skills, weapons and equipment no unit in vanilla has yet. Some of those were on units that are currently waiting for their november update. One of the options that it lets you filter by is Smoke Grenade Launcher. Not Eclypse, Smoke. That's the only interesting one. Fastpanda, Sapper and Number 2 also show up. Anyway, this is bullshit, and it tells us nothing other maybe we will get a 40-something bs10 (11 with Remdriver) SLGL to do the Aquila smoke trick in vanilla. At the cost of making the Guarda way worse. Of course, this is real paranoid hours, so tinfoil hat on, but I'm bored and can't sleep so whatever. EDIT: it happens in the other factions with missing sectorials too, in Ariadna you can filter by Viral Rifles and by (Normal) Marksman Rifles, in Haqq you can search for Assault Pistols and Feuerbachs, in Aleph there's Flamenspeers, Feuerbachs and K1Sniper Rifles.
