This came up in a game where a Locust (-6 Mimetism) w/ Killer Hacking Device used Cybermask to go into an IMP-2 state. The rules for IMP seem to have changed a bit since N3 so I couldn't really ascertain based on existing errata... When attempting to Discover the Locust, what MODs apply to the Discover roll? Just range and partial-cover? Does the Locust get it's -6 mimetism MOD even though the token that replaced it on the table doesn't show this MOD on it, or what?
I was trying to figure out how I missed this since it seems obvious now... then I realized that the rulebook is actually really vague about IMP being an NFB state, which is where I was looking in the pdf. Rather, I should have checked and confirmed that Cybermask itself is NFB. However, this actually reveals something kinda funny in the rules. As far as I can tell, IMP is not actually listed as an NFB state in and of itself anywhere. However, p)63 has a little sidebar that says this: REMEMBER NFB The Hacker cannot be in IMP-2 state while being in Camouflaged state or other similar state. So this is actually a bit confusing to me because as far as I can tell, the Camouflaged state is explicitly NOT marked as NFB (and implicitly as well, or else one would assume Camouflaged wouldn't be compatible with Mimetism). It makes sense that Camouflaged and IMP-2 are incompatible because they are are so similar mechanically and would be functionally impossible to 'stack' for the purposes of Discovery - or incompatible because you can't be in two marker states simultaneously... but isn't it technically wrong that NFB is the reason for this? Even if IMP-2 was NFB (as it would be implied in the instance of a Hacker using Cybermask), Camouflaged is not.
