The rulebook and Army both appear to be missing statlines for some deployables. CrazyKoala shows a statline only in an image inside an example, and nowhere else. WildParrot and MadTraps do not appear to be shown anywhere. Dazers, Mines, Deployable Repeaters have profiles that use Silhouette X - but Silhouette X has no defined base size in the Silhouette rules because it is supposed to be representative of a prone model of another Silhouette.
S X is good for prone, but I think they made a mistake removing the definition of S 0 as 25mm diameter base-height entities.
That's odd - I was actually looking into this the other day because it relates to the tokens I'm designing. One thing that's odd about the official N4 tokens is that the actually don't contain tokens for things like Fastpandas or Wildparrots. I noticed that the Fastpanda was S1 BUT I also assumed that the reason it was S1 is actually just because it is a glorified Repeater, which is S1. Since there's no actual token for a Fastpanda, if you don't have the miniature you'd just be physically putting out a Repeater token once the order has executed. The Wildparrot, on the other hand, is functionally an E/M mine once it's deployed. For all intents and purposes it doesn't need a special token and would instead by an E/M Mine token. But if it's S1 instead of SX, this would actually be confusing because you'd have to notate that the E/M mine is special and is S1. Likely not a big deal in general play but it does seem much cleaner to me to keep the size based on what the deployable IS once it lands rather than essentially its method of deployment. Something like a Crazy Koala I guess should have some sort of a token as well, since it's actually not quite like the Shock Mine it's based on due to its Boost ability. What is the expectation for how people represent these things on the table?
Wild parrots, CK's, FastPandas, and MadTraps all have official models that are all in the S1 range. I think Art Of War do some 2.5D acrylic markers for them too. I've been using acrylic repeater markers for my FPs due to not having the model which worked fine as all repeaters were S1 in N3. Generally I think most people would be OK with flat tokens (especially as Perimeter weapons no longer move) but if you were to make markers for them, an indication they were S1 would be a good idea.
WildParrot is in the “mines” section of the weapons chart, like Drop Bears. I’m assuming it will be S 0 when the deployable profile errata is released.
Oof, that'll teach me to look stuff up in the wiki mid-transition to a new edition rather going straight to the book.
