Not only did the Govads not change, we now also got Yara Hadad with MSV2, even in Bahram...so the Govad has even less of a role to fill than ever before.
Agreed, poor Govads... The only thing i can think of is that they can MSV1+SS now, shooting through smoke without penalties during the active round, but besides that... it would be better and fluffier, if Govads received the BS13 + wildcard buff, they are the elite shock troopers that destroyed by themselves a entire evil galactical corp.!
*Looks in vain for Yara’s HMG, ML, and Sniper options, and for her Killer Hacker option with a Boarding Shotgun, and for her Veteran Skill* Seriously, the KHD option does horrible things to enemy Hackers, with Bahram’s good access to Smoke, which can even be in the same Fireteam now that Muyibs are Wildcards. ‘Hi, I’m in Smoke and in your ZOC. How would you like to react?’ ‘Oh, you’re Dodging? That will be an unopposed Trinity.’ ‘Oh, you’re Resetting? That will be 2-3 Dam14 auto-hitting templates.’
Has something changed this year? Because last year people were generally very worried about having just 24" weapons, citing it as a complication of the task of getting out of DZ. Now they are like "Why do we need HMG when we have MMR?" I guess they are still niche at best, but now that taking any of them doesn't disrupt your list building (well, almost), there are definitely profiles you could take.
maybe i'm not communicating myself very well, i'm not saying that Govads are bad, just that they could be more loved. Muyibs were good, now they're even better, Govads was underperforming a bit (i'm a Govad enthusiast but let's be honest) and they didn't changed at all, only got the MSV1 buff. It was not a minor buff, but i guess our expectations were high to see them as good as Muyibs
I am surprised they made Muyibs better too. I think I would have made Govads BS13 to emphasize being long term veterans, then maybe more people would be on Team Govad vs Team Muyib (not that choosing is as dire given points cuts).
BS changes aren't well-understood by me as well. But I'm not exactly surprised by Muyib buff - modern Infinity is choke-full of pseudo-HI around that price range, or alternatively something that is better at shooting than plain BS12 folks, and half of their extra toys are dedicated to changing some really bad situations into just mostly bad situations, while others are scoring plan C items. And even current Muyibs will have to face all those Mimetism+MSV troops, middle-class pieces a lot of which also received BS buffs and the like, so it's not like they are going to overperform or anything. I guess it only makes Govad comparisons (internal or external) even more poignant, on the other hand. vOv I honestly have no idea what Infinity is up to. All the reworks and price changes all over the entire game are too much to swallow for someone with almost no experience like myself.
So as we wait for QK, what are people using to replace the Djanbazan HMG in vanilla? Is the Govad HMG working for you in that case?
I think Yara seems close too. Same visor, same armor, and better BS than Govads. Worse burst and scaling damage, potentially specializing against HI and TAGs. I wonder what will happen to both Djanbazans and Sekbans though. PH12 on Djanbazans would be huge, maybe Immunity (Shock), and Grenades could be nice since no one else in QK has them that I can think of. Sekbans are already very cost effective gunfighters in QK, with only Janissaires and Iguana having better BS.
Now that Muyibs are wildcards I can definitely see me putting a Govad HMG into a Muyib...err sorry...a Govad team to replace the Muyib Spitfire. Losing the TacAware order is offset by having the MSV1 and extra range I reckon.
I have been out of the loop for year and a half, but i have managed to catch up with the rules and profiles. Now i have a question to you guys, what is the role of Nadhir, especially in the sectorial? I see it as a cheap, hard to hit specialist that has FD and HD, never enough of them so i dont mind, but i dont really see much else? HD ans Surprise attack sorta suggests attack piece, but that shock ammo is imo redundant on the cheapest profile (shock ap seems cool, but usually AP has any use only above 4arm, where most of the units have shock immunity, and continous shock is also not the greatest thing) other profile has panzerfaust which is always good, and the last loadout isnt a specialist. Those are very similar loadouts to the other new boyo, Shujae, but Shujae while lacking HD and Ahock ammo has one BS more, more tools in the pockets for the same price, is always a specialist and has better FD. Farzans are still a better options in my book, and my HB lists for n4 usually end up with Core around Asawira and Hadda, Shujae, Lasiq, Fiday and two Farzans. I dont think i even look at Nadhirs in vanilla, i just dont know why they look so incomplete for me.
I think the Nadhir is more attractive because Hidden Deployment is huge. Shock is a little redundant with SMG, but shock flammenspeer is nothing to scoff at, and neither are shock AP marksmans, shock rifle + shock light shotgun, or shock panzerfaust. The Shujae just seems a little too much like Yasbir (albeit an obviously better Yasbir) in that having a forward troop that isn't a camo marker is a pretty juicy target for warbands, linked high burst weapons, etc if you're starting second. That having been said, a command token to start in suppression with mimetism (-6) in cover is going to be annoying. I kind of wished they had split the difference with one profile. If I was in charge of a new hassassin unit (and it is probably a good thing I'm not), I think I would have split the difference with the Nadhir and Shujae since they are so similar, and gone with something like the Nadhir but drop all weapons shock, with specialist operative in the base profile of the Shujae (since the Nadhirs don't have flash pulses), take or leave Shujae's dodge bonus, and have profiles as the Shujae's AP rifle/LSG/d-charges, Shujae's SMG/mines, and AP marksman / panzerfaust. The Farzan is also good, but a pretty standard infiltrator.
I come a little late to the discussion, sorry, but after a few games with "hassasin" I have to say we will have anymore a "muyib core vs govad core" comparaison, because "wildcard". AS @Skjarr said, now we can have a full core with the HMG govad and some wildcards. If we loose the govad we can have a "core of muyibs" or a "haris" or whatever we want. Even, we can play full of govads if we play a duo, haris or solo "asawira AP spitfire" as Lt. The Multispectralvisor L1 is now better, so we have decent shooter guys with it, in fireteams. Yara don't overlap Govads because the weapons options are really differents. So, now we can have both, level 2 and level 1. Or neither. The good thing now is we can a lot of "options" and no mandatory units. At least in hassasin.
I consider Govads an option now. They are a source of a strong HMG platform that can see through our smoke. I have made about a dozen lists now and I don't think a single one uses a Muyib Core, they all use Muyibs sprinkled in the fireteams, be it a Govad team or a Ghulam team. Muyibs becoming wildcard opened a TON of options in Hassassins. I have a list with a Govad HMG, Sniper, Muyib Doc, Muyib HRL, Yara, and it looks really fun.
Indeed @theGricks , i'm using a lot more a Govad link with muyibs, specially Govad HMG+Muyib HRL+Muyib minelayer EM, put a Ghazi nearby with smoke and there you have it, a nice offensive link with good defense too!
I for one, welcome the 40 pt Azra’il BS 13 damage 16 continuous damage AP HMG for lists and missions that require some punch. That’s great. the return of a holomasking Hafza is great too for the occasional trick. They even got slightly cheaper!
I am very happy to have my Sekban HRT, Djanbazan HMG, and Azra'il Feuebach back and better. While I am sad that the Sekban HRT lost its Assault Pistol, it being only 21 points and having a burst 2 chain colt makes up to it. I am still amazed at the Hafza HRT being only 17 points!! That will be a nice surprise for the enemy.
