Seriously, if it’s the socialism of a labor camp, perhaps. It’s literally a “work for the ship or leave, either with or without an EVA suit.” Like all of the other powers, it was built on and stands on maximum extraction of resources. On Corregidor, that resources is tough as nails workers, punto y final.
don't talk to me like that. You don't get to choose when this discussion is over. If you don't like it, there are plenty of other threads to troll.
, Unfortunately, the violence of alguaciles against workers is also described by other sources in the new core book. I like your analogy about the differing leftist factions. I just have to disagree that the ones you mention had "nearly common believes". If that was true, they would have cooperated. If they had, in the case of Germany, the Nazis would probably not have come to power. In the case of Russia, if the Bolshewiki had not succeeded, maybe there would have been a humane version of communism in Russia.
I would like to see you actually post something of value to the forum, like I do. You know, find and report a bug. Converse about fluff. Provide or request rules clarification. Something instead of the same old incessant snarky high school drive-by shitpost over and over again. You're even repeating the same exact shitposts, too. You've already used the "pot and kettle", on myself no less. Write some new material, you're extremely boring and predictable.
They were like that long before Uprising. Uprising just had them turn evil stupid for 5 minutes for the sake of plot.
Hmm, I know that quote, I guess it has been in some other sourcebook as well. I never read it as "Corregidor is a capitalist dictatorship". Maybe because I am an idealist and want the minis I have to represent something good. I interpreted as anarcho-syndicalists living in scarcity and therefore having to make tough choices. The society and situation I envisioned them to have was more akin to the anarchists in the book "The Dispossessed" by Ursula le Guin. In that book, some revolutionaries are allowed to leave a capitalist hell-world to live on a barren moon. The capitalists let them go because they want the revolution to be over and gone, and the anarchists seize the opportunity to live in hardship, but to be free. Difference to Corregidor is obviously that the people of Corregidor have to deal with the capitalists in order to survive. The iota-scarcity world of PanO has always been problematic to me as a plot device. If PanO has advanced so much that almost no one (except for some Ateks) lives in poverty there, and PanO does not exploit other societies that much, why has not everybody adapated their system? With such unlimited resources, those few Nomads and Ariadnans could easily be adopted. (ok, PanO does exploit the Helots on Varuna, but that is only one system and I wonder why, as well.) If PanO people live in luxury, why do they volunteer to fight in secret wars? If Corregidor is just meant to be another capitalist dictatorship, there is really no point in reading fluff. Nothing to enjoy there. Maybe I better just use my minis to play and forget about the background of the game. Or just have my own personal fluff in my head. Which is half as fun. It is like making up your own God.
I'd say that Uprising really pointed out how evil YJ was. Yes, it was always in the background and people should have understood that. I was not surprised when I read about the Uprising events. I was just amazed about how graphic CB got when describing the atrocities. The actions taken were perfectly fitting to the character of YJ, imho.
I like that feature. Everyone is out for their own interests, there are no morally upright or good sides. Just shades of grey with bloodied hands.
what is the attraction, may I ask? It seems pretty pointless, just like real life. Nations and people being selfish and fighting for resources without any meaningful change. I prefer there to be a glimmer of hope.
It wasn't though, they behaved so boorishly. And incompetently. Somehow using 2175 tech they couldn't destroy Japan from Korea. Shit, people are worried about it being possible today.
Probably because my life is pretty great, so I like the contrast. Hell, we all have disposable income to throw at a game.
You put your head down and pick your nightmare side. Anyone thinking any side in Infinity isn’t mud well mixed with blood is on an errand, so you simply carry on. It works for some, it doesn’t work for others.
certainly there is mud and blood in every Infinity faction, but some are not as bad as others. Surely Haqislam is better than Yu Jing, for example. Shades of Grey is not grimdark. I like shades of grey, but I don't like grimdark.
Just my 2 cents, but i literally got into and obsessed over infinity for years now because it was the only ttwg i knew of that actually seemed like most factions were kinda good in their own ways and you were playing the behind the scenes dirty work. I understand the need for skeletons in the closet and cold war esq reasons for these ops to take place, but everything being grimdark capitalism and 1 evil satan virus communism is really boring and vapid. Fluff changes that undo the hope and good in favor of more grimdark space dictatorship also make it very hard for me to convince friends to give infinity a try. I know you can always make up your own stuff but that shouldnt be required to play a game with its own unique built up setting and style.
They all have good points. Corregidor is still the freest place to live. Yu Jing is safe. I'm an American, so I choose free.
A lot is a matter of what each of us are seeing as good and bad. Something I might gloss over could be fine for you, and viceversa.
As an American, you should choose PanO or USAriadna. I think they reflect the USA the best. Apart from there not being an iota scarcity economy in the USA.
Yeah pretty sure I would pick Varuna or Neoterra if I was looking for somewhere in the sphere to live.
Corregidor definitely has a little bit of that "Frontier Spirit", hardscrabble pioneers working their knuckles to the bone to eke out an existence on the edge of civilisation, free from gods and old distant masters. Forced to make hard choices to survive as a new society in a large, uncaring world. I can definitely see parallels with post civil war America and the old west.
