This means that if Doggos take a even a single wound from Viral shots, they insta-die since Shock is part of the ammo that Viral weapons shoot.

Where is the actual description of Viral Ammunition? It doesn't seem to exist in the N4 rules O_o

No, it means they skip the Unconscious state, as that's what Shock ammo does. A Dog Warrior still has effective 3 wounds vs Shock.

If you read the screenshot OP posted Vulnerability (Viral) affects any weapon with "Viral" in it's name.

No, mate, I mean the actual rules of how Viral works? This seems to be the only mention of how Viral works in the whole book.

I see rules for all kinds of ammo, but not Viral. Where is the "skips Unconscious state" rule described? I wanted to read the N4 rules for Viral ammo and can't find them.

Because there's no longer separate Viral Ammo?

Viral isn't a specific ammo type any more, Viral weapons have DA+Shock ammo against BTS.

That's such a backwards way of presenting the information. Why Viral isn't a separate ammo type when it has it's own (DA+Shock, force BTS saves) rule and there's Vulnerability to it?

Can you even be Immune to Viral at all, if it's not an Ammo Type nor does it cause States?

    Ridiculously convoluted presentation and design.

    upload_2020-10-6_0-1-49.png

If Viral is not Ammunition, just a descriptor of a weapon with DA+Shock that forces BTS saves, how could Total Immunity have worked on it in the first place? Why would it need Vulnerability: Viral if Total Imm doesn't protect from it...

Why the hell would you do that.

Total Immunity turns it from Shock+DA to normal ammo.

Its is also cleaner. Making Viral DA+Shock versus BTS makes it clear that Immunity (shock) turns Viral into just DA ammo.

I don't see why it would.

Viral is not an Ammunition. It doesn't have Traits that cause States. Why would Immunity (Total) be triggered? Please quote from the rule.

Like it was said, there is no Viral Ammunition: Viral weapons use the combined ammunition of Shock+DA. As per page 99 of the Rule PDF:

So a unit with Immunity (Total) will treat a hit with Shock+DA as a Normal hit.

Viral has two Ammunition types, DA and Shock.

Total Immunity is immune to any Ammunition, cancelling it's Special effects and Traits, considering it Normal Ammunition.

So it will ignore the effects and traits of DA Ammunition, considering it Normal Ammunition.

It will ignore the effects of Shock Ammunition, considering it Normal Ammunition.

So a trooper with Immunity (Total) like a Karakuri hit once by a Viral pistol would make one BTS roll, suffering a Wound if failed.

A Doggo has Vulnerability (Viral) so it's Immunity (Total) does not kick in against the Viral pistol, so it would make 2 BTS rolls with each failure causing a Wound and Shock effects.

My biggest issue with the vulnerability rule is that it only exists to shit on dogwarriors(and the bear), when it should be used on a few more units. Cheifly the Karakuri

To be fair, Viral weapons have always (since at least n2) been said to be dangerous to Dog warriors and are fairly limited. It was the background for the Loup Garou.

I do find it neat that Volkolk wulvers lose that vulnerability.

Volkolk's aren't wulvers they are dogfaces that have been through some extra genetic modification after experiences and info gained in the making of the super bear. So they have more control of themselves and don't transform.

I'm not saying they shouldnt have a weakness or its not justified. Just other units have the same justifications for weaknesses but dont get any.

I do think that Vulnerability should be more widely spread, but the dogs sucking against Viral is well established. I mean, I'm not against Loup Garou upgrading to Plasma Rifles, but they're meant to be able to counter Dog Warriors so they should probably do that somehow at least. I'm in favour of Viral Adhesive Launchers myself, or Viral Stun Grenades.

In general units with Total Immunity should be vulnerable to nonlethal ammo. No reason a walkie-talkie should be immune to being blown out with E/M just because a werewolf's holding it.
