A small group of desperadoes were beginning to blur the line between mercenaries and raiders. They were found to have been causing more than a fair bit of trouble stealing from a few settlements out on the frontier, and weren't responding to requests for them to stop. a small platoon of 23 marauders stationed nearby were sent out to try to subdue them before they caused even bigger problems. They expected to make short work of the group but instead found them having a small war with a tribe of hundreds of antipodes warriors attacking USAriadna's broaders. Nearby a frontier town was very close to being over run by the creatures. The so called desperadoes much more mobile quickly began to pull out as the antipodes began to overwhelm them. The marauders quickly moved in to secure the town with the grunts stationed there but the constant raiding left it filled with wounded, holes in the defense, And made it lack most supplies. They quickly began to wonder if they should merely take who they could save and leave the wounded who would not make it. However the choice was made for them when antipodes pinned them into their position in the town and began their siege. They were able to keep them mostly at bay with their flamethrowers but the marauders were still few in numbers and casualties eventually began to rise. The grunts who were stationed there with what little medical training their medic could give them tried to patch up who they could ,marauder, grunt or civilian in order to get them into the fight. Meanwhile a pair of foxtrot rangers were using stealth and mines to cause some chaos in the antipode's lines to try to relieve some of the tension on the town as platoon of minutemen rushed to reinforce them. However despite being warned by the foxtrots over the radios they were more than slowed down by bumbling into their own mines and running into antipode warriors. They were slowed enough that night fell long before they were able to break through to the settlement. Throughout the night fire and gunsmoke hung over the battlefield like a blanket of war as the minutemen had lost nearly all of their momentum in the dark. At the settlement things were much more dire. Only 13 grunts and 5 marauders were left uninjured enough to continue fighting and tend to the wounded. Attempting to hold up in the mine as the antipode attacks continued into the night. It wasn't until midnight that the Minutemen were able to reach them but even then there were still too many antipodes in the area for them to evacuate without being slaughtered in the open. Thus the 5th rangers and what was left of the town cemented their defense in the mine. Their flamethrowers now a danger to themselves prevented their use. Regardless their defenses held and the antipodes were quick to realize they would not be able to breach the entrance of the mine and began to dig their way in as their last attempt to snuff out the town. The soldiers scrambled to move the injured deeper into the mine as the walls around them broke opened allowing antipodes to pour in. For 2 more grueling hours the soldiers fought until the antipodes realized a USARF counter attack was pushing their forces back and if they did not retreat they would be surrounded. They made the logical choice and left as they causally stole all the material from the mine that they could carry. However for another hour the rangers waited inside the mine expecting the antipodes to return to their attack and thus nearly shot the reinforcements when they had finally arrived to evacuate them. They quickly moved them to the aid station and then to the hospital where they were treated. The doctors were amazed by the soldiers work only a handful had died under their medical care and most would eventually make full recoveries. The head doctor even remarked that they were natural doctors. A special operations colonel quickly approached the grunts and marauders and told them he wanted to move them to a unit he was forming where they would be able to better use their talents in the defense of their home land. They all agreed, but only 6 grunts and 2 marauders were unscathed enough to begin training under the colonel. The two foxtrot rangers and a two of the minutemen platoon were also invited to join. The colonel's training was tough just like everyone's trainings. However it was nothing compared to the assault by the antipodes and they proved they were up to any challenge. They also more than proved that they were in fact natural doctors. Thus the Archangel Special Operations 137 Medical Company was born.

She was incredibly thankful to them but still begged them not to take her home. They agreed and gave her a job as their company clerk. She was grateful and gladly took them up on their offer. She only got the bare minimum training and was barely considered a grunt, but as a clerk she didn't really need to be. Thus for 5 more years she didn't even shoot a gun again until her unit got caught up in the middle of the battle that earned them the name archangels. During that operation she didn't have a choice not to fight but proved even without training she could keep up with everyone. Even after they went through retraining she stayed as the company clerk. However she didn’t have the money for a degree nor did she want to say to tend to the clan than she felt betrayed her father. So she and her father went to Ariadna where she joined the grunts as a field medic so she could pay for her schooling to become a doctor. He couldn’t stomach the ideas of either of these things and sold his gang out to the law enforcement however he was still charged with the thief of the thousands of dollars of supplies they had taken over the years and given the choice to go to war or go to jail. He choose war and became an MP with the Grunts and proceeded to re-educate young punks who were living the same live he had. One day while raiding they kicked down the door of what they thought was a simple group of punks and found a human trafficking point. He saved a young girl who had run away from her father and begged him not to send her back. He agreed and even convinced his captain to give her a job as the company clerk. William was fine with living out his days not asking about his father about there mother but Lucius was much more determined to find out. He constantly asked his father only to not get an answer. Eventually he started going through his father's things looking for anything until he eventually found a picture of their mother and father along with the name of a town on the back. He eventually convinced his brother William to come with him and search for their mother. Being raised by a hard case they were easily able to make their way past the tribes of antipodes and reached the town where their mother supposedly was. They looked and asked around until they finally found her, but she was not the woman they expected. She was an addict who did many questionable things just so she could have enough money to supply herself drugs. she even had a daughter who she practically ignored. They saw her as their family and they promptly relieved their mother of the responsibility by kidnaping their half sister before they brought her back home with them to their father. He was furious that they had left, but was mostly fine about their half sister, saying that he would have done the same. Lucius while not upset about having a sister was very bitter about his mother and started to leave home more often. He eventually made friends with a former haqqislam now mercenary who he failed at flirting with at a bar. She taught him more than he probably should have know about heavy weaponry, but so did his father. meanwhile his brother continued sharpening his aim, eventually going to the same town to participate in marksmanship competitions when they were both old enough they both joined the Ranger Force like their father. Having taking the time to read up on everything, and quite enjoying the idea of a rag tag bunch of Ariadnan folks focused on rescuing people, I feel like I could give you a little advice on improving the storytelling a little. You really could use breaking down the long paragraphs and taking a little more time to tell what happened to the characters. Sometimes you transition from one point to the other too fast, and there is little build up or tension to it. Try pacing a bit more, breaking the larger paragraphs into two small ones will help the story flow better and make it easier to read.
Yeah I tend to have the problem sometimes. It’s hard to find a middle ground between too long and too short. Regardless thank you for the advice
Marauders name- Bruce Lee (close combat expert) Age- 20 Gender- male Callsign- (pending) backstory- Lee was born in Japan and like many joined the imperial service so he could serve something greater than himself, and eventually attain glory in battle. However instead he was assigned to military police. He would never attain glorious combat but he was still able to serve his people. He later attained the position of an inspector and prove himself time and time again with the help of his partner. However he eventually learned his partner was actually working with a local forced prostitution ring. Appalled he quickly went to turn the evidence in only to find his partner doing the same but playing the evidence against him, thus framing Lee. His partner was later found in Lee’s apartment shot 15 times in the chest with the symbol for traitor engraved on his forehead. Lee had already fled the planet by the time they found the body and was on his way to the farthest place he could think of, Dawn. There he saw them fighting selflessly against the hordes of antipodes that raided them constantly. Wanting to again serve something greater than him he signed up to join the Ranger Force. name- James Davids Age- 25 Gender- male Callsign- The huntsmen backstory- Davids was the son to a desperado who taught him how to ride a bike before he could even walk. They raced together and hunted together on their bikes and James even got into legal racing and started making great money. However one day on a hunt they were ambushed by the pack of antipodes and James crashed his bike into a tree wreaking it. His father rushed back to get him but was badly wounded after. James quickly got onto the bike and they floored it out of there only for his father to later die from his wounds. David’s blamed himself and couldn’t bring himself to ride again. He merely continued to maintain his father’s bike and joined the Ranger Force to repay blood with blood. Minutemen name- corporal Thomas Srills (hacker) Age- 19 Gender- male Callsign- Sparkplugs or sparky backstory- Srills was a nerd in high school who was practically a wizard with any calculation or computer problem you threw at him, however people naturally made fun of him for this fact. One day he was backed into a corner with no other option he threw a punch. He was nearly suspended for putting the other student in the hospital for a broken jaw, but instead because he was the one who reported what happened he was given a day of detention cleaning the computer lab. Afterwards he was naturally the target for the school’s fighters and got into even more fights filling his junior and senior year with a long list of people with broken noses. Unfortunately he was eventually charged with battery and told that he would have to serve in the military to clear his record or go to jail. He agreed to serve and joined the minutemen where he proved despite being a nerd he was more than minutemen material. name- lieutenant Jack Rickers Age- 22 Gender- male Callsign- Preston backstory- Rickers was the son to a very wealthy business man he was nothing compared to those of the human sphere but Rickers lived a relatively cush life. However his father did insist that he learn how to fight and defend himself. He then went to college and midway through he learned his father was actually the accountant to a crime syndicate and was forced to leave school but not without acquiring more than enough student debt. Thus he joined the army grunts as an attempt to pay it off. Because of a shortage of officers in the minutemen they offered to pay for him to finish school if he enlisted as an officer he agreed but his training hardly prepared him to lead a platoon into combat thus when his platoon was sent to link up with the surrounded grunts who would become the arch angels he could hardly stop his men from running into ambushes and even their own mines. He did manage to keep up with them and fought off a few antipodes. The colonel Lacking low level officers for the archangels quickly snatched him up along with a much more competent corporal from his old unit
Foxtrot name- Benjamin welts Age- 21 Gender- male Callsign- mouse backstory- Welts was the son of an old vet who was more than haunted by his past and would easily snap at him. He never abused him but Benjamin quickly learned to be quiet and not to bother his father. At age 10 he was able to hide almost supernaturally well because of all his practice. Some people even thought he was actually a ghost haunting the woods on the outskirts of town. After a few years a girl went out into the woods trying to find the "ghost". She tripped and hurt herself rather badly so he helped her. She was disappointed it turned out to only be a kid but she ended up being the only person he regularly interacted with and eventually became his girlfriend. After he turned 18 he decided to get a job as a grunt. During his basic his instructors even had a hard time keeping track of him, without him trying. Eventually his sergeant recommended him to transfer to the foxtrot basic. The instructors there still had trouble keeping track of him but they were mostly able to keep up with him and honed his stealth skills even more. right out of training he got to prove his skill with a small number of skirmishes he got involved with proving even antipodes would have trouble finding him. After a few years he developed an unwelcome rival named kasehvic that became a foxtrot ranger just so he could challenge him. Welts met nearly every challenge given but he learned quickly he was a lightweight with booze. name- Justin Kasehvic Age- 22 Gender- male Callsign- red backstory- his father was a veteran Kazak who raised him to be a warrior like him. Tough confident and more than a little arrogant. He proved him self more than a capable warrior and relished in the killing of antipodes eventually moving to USAriadna where there were more to hunt. He eventually became one of the few on foot desperadoes and was more than a little unreasonable in the bars and pubs he went to. One night he meet a very soft spoken young man who very much seemed like he just wanted to be left alone so he could be with his girlfriend. Kasehvic however didn't leave him alone and instead picked on him in any way he could think of but the man just tried to ignore him until Kazak turned his attention to the man's girlfriend. In mere moments the man showed that he was actually a very well trained foxtrot ranger by beating the snot out of Kasehvic. Having never been beaten in a fight before he wanted a rematch as soon as he was able to stand only to lose again. Kasehvic immediately sought to one day beat him. Eventually he even tried to join the foxtrots so he could fight him more. Despite being loud and unruly he eventually passed the training and was eventually even assigned as Welt's partner. To this day he still has yet to beat him and any competition or fight he had put towards Welts. Save for drinking contests Blackjack name- Urshia Dajani Age- 25 Gender- female Callsign- angel of fire ID- 827494 backstory- Urshia's father was a member of the al fasid and it was his dedication to haqqislam and his unit, that inspired her to join when she came of age. However she quickly realized she was not cut out for the unit. She was more than whiling to fight the enemies of haqqislam but she couldn't bring her self to kill civilians or torture the prisoners like the entirety of her unit seemed to enjoy too much. Eventually she caught a rumor of a group of haqqislam soldiers deserting to become mercenaries. She decided to sneak out with them and purse a slightly more moral line of work. They didn't trust her at first but needed the heavy firepower and decide to let her come. Eventually they made it to Dawn where there was more than enough work to go around. After a few months of jobs she was hired to help a unit called the Archangels evacuate a town under attack by rogue PanOceania forces. They were called a medical company and She thought nothing of it at first until she arrived and saw the unit in action. They showed the same dedication and sense of duty and loyalty that her father showed her but not for killing. Inspired she quickly took up a position to slow the pano advance while the medics evacuated. And she fought, she fought until she was down to her last magazine and her last replacement barrel. By now she was the only one left in the town all the soldiers were escorting the injured to the helicopters. Even her fellow mercenaries had left with out her realizing. Despite this she did not want to yield a single inch of this town to pano and continued to fight as they quickly began to surround her. Eventually she was finally out of ammunition and the damage from pano heavy weapons fire was too great. She was defenseless save for a shovel as pano moved in for the kill. Only for them to be greeted by the archangels as they rushed in and reenforced her position. One of them simply looked at Urshia and said "evacuation means everyone" and began to cover her as they made their way to the helicopter before they finished the evacuation. After some time in the hospital she asked if it would be possible for her to join the unit. The captain was actually having difficulty getting a black jack. Which was why he needed to hire her in the first place. Thus he pulled some strings to have her officially listed as a blackjack unit and she was permanently added to the company and eventually given the name angel of fire as a testament to her place in the archangels, her heavy firepower and her amazing cooking ability. She started training a little under a former hunzakut named Alexia Bergsteiger and thus wears her emblem to show her self as her student Hardcase name- Alexia bergsteiger Age- 35 Gender- female Callsign- spades backstory- Alexia was raised in a family of mercenaries and she was trained by her father her entire life to carry on the family tradition and he even tried to marry her off to a young mercenary to pass on the tradition but after what happened to her so called fiancé no suitor would dare go near her and she also earned the name spades from showing what she could do with a shovel and because she loved poker. Eventually he decided to leave her alone but he began to work almost solely for a haqqislam colonel. After some time the colonel convinced them to join the haqqislam army. She was not as dedicated to the religion as her father or most of the other soldiers but there was no doubt in her skill as a hunzakut. Her father however quickly became a devout follower and began to rise through the ranks. However after years of service one of the soldiers under her father's command found evidence that suggested he was revealing secrets to the enemies of haqqislam and was quickly executed while she was discharged from the hunzakut. Not knowing what else to do she turned to mercenary work. Her old informants however said that her father was framed. The evidence they gave her pointed her towards the edge of the human sphere. She went to investigate only to be ambushed by a team of desperadoes from Ariadna and so she followed the trail back to Their home planet where it quickly went cold but the planet had more than enough of need for mercenaries so she stayed and looked into the Ambush when she could. The trail may have never picked back up however she spent a good 10 years on that planet proving her self to be quite the hard case. A little after she turned 35 she ended up meeting a group of mercenaries who were also formerly haqqislam. Most of them were rather young but she paid that fact no mind. She was much more distracted by their al fasid. Who somehow managed to be timid and shy despite wearing a metric ton armored suit of death. They some how immediately managed to become great friends. Alexia passed on her years of experience onto the young mercenary and saved her skin on more than one occasion. Meanwhile urshia returned the favor with heavy firepower and the supernatural ability to make military rations taste good. Alexia also always felt like urshia got the short end of the stick in their relationship and always did her best to do things for her on par with her cooking which was the greatest challenge she had ever faced. After some time urshia became a permanent addition to a Ariadna unit called the archangels and was officially listed as a blackjack. Alexia didn't officially join but she offered a discount to the unit and thus spent the majority of her jobs watching urshia's back, and the price was still rather fair for a mercenary of her caliber. Thus she was still living it up in the live of a hardcase
*WIP* The young Ranger Grunt, Private Sara Wilco sat in the small wooden shed that had been converted into her office. Her long blonde hair tied up in a messy bun as her armor was missing from her shoulders. All she was wearing over her shoulders was the fleece liner that went under the winter parka that did well enough to keep her warm in the unheated and poorly insulated shed. A small metal desk sat in the middle as around her was a fortress made out of stacks of papers and filing cabinets sat somewhat ready for an attack. On one of them sat a rather unused radio that was only on because Sergeant first class Woodson required her to keep it on. It made sense for if they need to contact command, and it might sometimes be necessary for someone to contact her. However since no body ever needed to call anything in all usually it ever did was make white noise that she sometimes tried to pretend was a water fall if her day ever became especially boring. The was a moment of muffled gun shoots out side in the distance. She guessed it was probably a patrol running into a few antipodes that snuck past the outposts to the west. Logically she pulled out the form they would need to fill out when they got back. No more than a few of them ever get all the way here to this middle of no where town. Nothing ever seemed to happen here beyond 1 or 2 antipodes a month. Which was a good for her but so boring. The antipodes didn’t even hunt here before they put a town there because there was just that, nothing, but a dying up mine for zinc. She didn’t even know what the heck zinc was used for Thinking of that reminded her that she didn’t even know where her gun was stowed. It was some where in the shed because she didn’t want it to take up any room in the barracks, but she had no idea where. Although She didn’t need it she was just the desk jockey which was proved by her noodle arms. She could barely do 45 push up during the yearly pt test, and she couldn’t even remember the feeling of a gun in her hand anymore. However the captain could never find someone as good at her job as her so he wavered it all for her. She sighed as she pulled away from the computer that had the weekly report written on it. Even though it was basically the same weekly report as last week and the week before that. She need to take her mind off it for a moment and the white noise didn’t seem to be cutting it so she looked at the dirty set of body armor she had hanging on the door. She probably couldn’t even put it on if she did need to. The only think she think she could manage was probably the helmet that was sitting on her desk as a paperweight, It only had one strap probably simple enough. Out of boredom she picked it up and looked at it before putting it on. It didn’t even fit right and sunk down right over her eyes and cut half her vision. She then grabbed the strap and tried putting it over her chin, but it didn’t seem to work for some reasons. After a few moments she realized that she had put it on backwards. She pulled it off humiliated and feeling stupid and sat it on her desk upside down. After a moment of still being bored she put her hand on and sent it into a spin on her desk. Suddenly the door finally creaked open as the captain walked in and looked at her “How you holding up” he asked her as she simply looked at him while her helmet spun off the desk and clunked onto the floor “Bore as ever I see. well do you have those reports on the desperadoes raiding the trading convoys outside of town? The major wants to have a full report from me on it.” She nodded “yes sir” she answered as she reached back and without even looking pulled a folder from the cabinet and held it out to him. He took the thick folder and held it in his hands “Uh wow. This is a lot... how many are there anyways?” She was already handing him another thick folder as he spoke “These two folders are everything on the local desperado cell, Cobria. It includes all accounts of bar fights, fist fights, gun fights, murder theft and rape preformed by them as well as a list of names for everyone in it.” she leaned forward to rest on her elbows on the desk as she crossed them over one another “I’ve been waiting too long for the chance to send those two files to command. I’m sure they won’t mind the extra reports” “How did you even get all these reports?” He asked looking up at her “Same way I found out that congress woman Row’s secretary is a Yu Jing double agent...” she silently slide a small folder towards him “...make sure the right person finds out about that.” “Is there anything else you think I’d enjoy learning?” The captain asked trying to think how he would have lasted without her. “Hmmm...Cobria is gonna try something stupid. They’ve been gearing up for it all day. I’m not sure what but they only just started-“ the radio blared a little with Woodson’s voice “This is Bulldog 1 we just got ambushed by two desperados near the old well one is dead the other got away.” “Well there’s their stupid something...” She said as she turned to look at the captain. Before the radio scratched as another voice came on “this is bulldog 3 we were also just attacked on the north road. Both desperados down, but we got three wounded. send Holzburg to meet us at the north entrance to town” suddenly there were gunshots muffled through the walls but they were closer than before just then the radio scratched again as the sounds of gunfire came through it. Wilco unconsciously pulled out three forms to report injuries and put them down onto the desk before going to put the date in on them. “This is Rook NW! We’re being fired upon, assholes on bikes headed for the center of town” The captain pulled out his pistol as he grabbed Wilco’s helmet and threw it to her interrupting her as she filled out the form. “Don’t worry about that nonsense! get your pistol!” The captain barked at her. After a moment to realize why that was a really good idea she scrambled to put on her helmet ,the right way this time, as the captain checked that his pistol was loaded and threw her armor onto her desk. “Stay here radio command” He grabbed the handle of the door before suddenly it was smashed open. The sound of a motor revving loudly as the bike it rode flew though the doorway crashed into the captain before continuing on into her desk forcing it and her flying back until she was pined against the filing cabinet on the back wall. She felt a knot in her stomach as she felt the desk press up against her. A hairy man covered in tattoos who had been riding the bike suddenly stood up before quickly aiming his shotgun at the captain who laid underneath the bike. Wilco heard the loud boom as the shotgun fired. She looked down at the desk and failed as she desperately tried to push it back. The cold steel box refusing to move as the motorcycle pinned it in. “God damn it!” She looked up as the man pumped the lever on the shotgun a shotgun shell flying out and bouncing across the floor as he moved towards her. She looked around for something that could use and saw a draw starting to slide open above her head. She then looked forward just in time to see as he leveled the gun right between her eyes as with a devilish smirk. She grabbed the drawer right above her and threw it forward. The hunk of metal flying out of its spot and into him like a train. There was a loud boom as the shot gun managed to get a round off Wilco felt her head slam back against the cabinet as the harden steel of her helmet pressed up hot and dented against her forehead. She saw stars and not much of anything else as she tried to figure out her senses. She felt cold round metal in her hand before she grabbed onto it. She finally started coming back and realized it was her gun tapped to the bottom of her desk. She quickly pulled it off and barely remembered that she had to pull the bolt back only to suddenly feel the barrel of the mans shotgun slam into her face. He ripped her helmet off before he drew a knife and pressed it to her forehead. The stinging razor edge pressing against her skin as it started to taste blood. “You Little bitch! I’m gonna take that scalp of yours!” Suddenly there was a pop as a Pea of a bullet came out of the desk and went threw the hand holding the knife. Blood spraying out onto her face as he started backing up and clutching his hand. The red started to pool onto the ground as he quickly started to go pale, She had got him right in a vein . “You sl-...” he collapsed to the his knee as there was another pop. A small hole appearing where his eyes was before he fell straight into a cabinet before slumping over. “Go to hell...” Sara looked down at the desk before she tried to shove it off of her again to no effect “come on!” She heard the sound of fighting continuing outside and looked up to see one of the Glass twins standing in the door way “The captains dead.” He said unceremoniously as he grabbed the desk with one hand and moved it with easy. freeing her from her restraint. “Yeah...” she went to stand up but the pain from where the desk had pressed up against her kept her from doing so. “Damn...” she leaned her head back into the dent that was perfectly shaped like her head “Get on the radio and call command” he grabbed the radio and put it down in her lap. She nodded and flipped the switch before holding it up to her mouth. “This is outpost littlebird do you read me?” She waited before a scratch answered her “This is Valhalla. Do you have any new bits of intel for us?” She didn’t hesitate and pressed the talk button. “Yeah sure JSA is planing an uprising.” She said sarcastically “Oh and we’re being attacked” “What?” The operator said amazes “Why would anyone attack a zinc mine. I don’t even know a use for zinc.” To be continued
