Wow. We don’t go to the Yu Jing subforum and rant about the Haidao LT2 after losing the Intruder LT. We don’t go to the PanO forum and complain about the Kamau having shock immunity in the hopes that CB would do the same for the Grenzer (no one saw that coming, I don’t think). So yes, I’ll have a little fun at the expense of the people who came into our subforum to complain that Nomad units are just utter OP nonsense when none of us have any need to clutter up their forums with that silliness. Doesn’t mean for a second I have any antagonism toward other factions. PanO should get smoke, it’s silly at this point. Poor MO keeps not quite living up to hopes and expectations. The Zhencha should have shock immunity. I could go on for days, but this is the Nomad subforum, so none of that is relevant. And how is any of that relevant to asking Yu Jing players to not poo-poo in the Nomad forum constantly? It’s a great time to be a Nomad player, and I hope the other factions get to share in that joy. What you’ll never catch me doing is filling their subforums with complaints when I’m not getting what I want, or when they are getting what I wish Nomads had.
Asking YJ players to not complain is like asking GW players not to whine about Space Marines. It ain't happening.
@Vakarian Are you physically capable of reading? If yes, then read the part where I literally state I’m a Nomads player (I play like 6 armies at this point, but hey...)
@Zewrath my rant wasn’t directed at you for starting the topic. Maybe I should have been more clear. It was referencing other people piling on throughout the discussion. I disagreed with you about the severity of the impact of the camo+repeater interaction, but we really never even crossed swords on that point. Again, *shrug*.
They split the Moran profiles into either camo or repeater. Very happy that our profound playtesting with the new profile could conclusivly show that there is no place for a new idea. Glad we could prevent the utter domination of the human sphere by the Moran menace. On a less snarky note - all profile now have FO and they got 4-5 points cheaper. I guess we at least have options now but the camo+repeater Moran seems a thing of the past before it really saw the light of day.
I think it was more a gameplay change than balance change. A hidden repeater is a nightmare around open information - like hackers under holoprojecter, which I think has been changed at least from what I can see.
Not completely happy with the nerf of making them all forward observers. Will make Morans a liability in the missions where killing specialists is an objective. Otherwise I'm excited that I can get the Moran for less points now. Its a shame we weren't allowed time to try it and see if it was as OP in practice as people thought.
Oh you must be new here If there is a change in the game Yu Jing players will be mad about it. As sure as the sun rises on the eastern horizon
in the end.. we got out the interaction, but I have to admit that I didn't expect a change in the moran profiles, but a "when used a repeater, it will reveal". This leaves the door opened to the infiltrated camo repeater in the future. How much time unitl pano/yj gets it, and then nobody complains about it? I think this doesn't fully solve the problem. Another camoed camo can appear in a future, and then we will have the same discussion (well, maybe, it will deppend on which faction gets it, like happened with camoed jammer, in a limited-camo heckler was a fuss, but in a normal-camo zulu was not). But I like this solution, it makes morans better in their own role and gives more options. Just great! no, it was also limited camo when he was camo+repeater (only people didn't look deeper into it, as happens with a lot of other interaction complaints) I told there was going to be a nerf for this and the kriza... For Kriza I think the nerf will come when they change the FT rule, so that will take longer. But again, CB can surprise us with a new direct nerf to kriza rarelly...no. CB gives a lot. This is the second time I see CB giving somethig to nomads after petitions or complaints (The first one was the release of the szalamandra pilot in n1 because of the cool ilustration). What happens, is that is not common for CB to give something to nomads after those complaints/petitions. Remember the 3-4 revisions to bolts or B comming to the forum after less than 24h complains about them? the extra scabbards in certain knights in their extra independant release? the nerf to full auto? the nerf because all complaints about markmanship lvl2 when spetznat appeared? there are a lot of examples of CB changing things because the community. Its just that, rarelly it becomes a buff, usually is a plain nerf. Only one faction got troops revised outside a sectorial revision or a rule change (like the total inmunity check) during N3, and it hapened at least twice. this is not the first time we got new shinny things...and the complaints try to nerf it (with successfull response from CB). We were just lucky now that CB decided on changing the unit instead of the rules. And be sure that this will not be the last time the complaints hapen. But be sure that, people comming complaining about the "powerful nomads" will repeat again truth be told...all factions complain to certain degree. YJ got the meme because cc complaining in n2 (even if they were in the right then), pano got the freebies from CB so they shut up (so their complaints are not long term), and we get the "you can't complain" treatment from they two. Other factions complain too, but no one minds or make a fuss about it. They are simply ignored.
I'm glad it was changed. I don't know if it was unbalanced, but the interaction still seemed unfun to deal with for me. Also we got our 'Zero' style specialist that is dirt cheap and can hang around in token state without wasting irregular orders. Does the Zero get specialist on their minelayer? I didn't think so. Suck it, Bakunin.
This thread reminded me that there is actually a relatively similar interaction in yu-jing with the lu-duan, since it's an holoprojector/holomask repeater. You can holomask your lu duan as a rui-shi and use his repeater freely without revealing it. There's bit and kiss in CA as well. They can both get cybermasked and use kiss's repeater without forcing it out of the IMP-2 state. So yeah the moran might still have been the "most abusive" use of this oversight, but there are other weird ones as well. They sould've just revert to the old rules forcing the bearer of the repeater to reveal himself if its repeater is used.
at least the lu duan can be targeted, hacked an so...but bit&kiss? well, we will not see the same amount of complaints that have been here about morans, but instead talking about her. But it also needs a deep look into it.
Hmm. That's a valid point. AND you can probably plop several IMP markers so some players with memory issues will fear every marker on board. Hey, @Zewrath @SpectralOwl is it op enough for you to activate salt guns?
Well, as a PanO player who dares to complain on other faction's forums, that was the whole point. There are other units that can exploit this, and it'd be great to make that interaction cleaned up. And for the record, if PanO would got such a unit I'd complain about it as well.
Well, the Lu Duan just got changed as well; Deployable Repeater instead of standard Repeater, but Burst (+1) Flamethrower to compensate. Regarding Bit&Kiss: I've read the rules for Peripheral (Sync), but haven't seen any mention, that they share the state of their controller. It might be that this particular bonus didn't survive edition change.
