With today's update, Andromeda is back to superior infiltration (she'll need a 15 to succeed across the halfway line.)

Ekdromoi do not have the option to Parachute anymore. It's only combat jump or nothing. There is their frenzy...

They also have a more expensive chain rifle option, which grants them nothing (used to be assault hacker) so they seem possibly unfinished.

Even Zhanshi Hackers only sit at 16pts. Line Hackers are fairly spammable now, especially linked under a good Tinbot. ALEPH's lack of a basic line trooper is a disadvantage in this regard, but the awesome shootiness of Dakinis makes up for it easily in my estimation. The OSS counter to Interventors and the like will probably be straightforward Naga or Dasyu assassination runs.

An Asura with Fairy Dust from an EVO should probably merit real consideration for anti-hacker duties. She has the benefit of hitting everything else hard too.

After digesting the changes for a few days, I feel like vanilla Aleph is one of the losers of N4. We lost a lot of profiles and most of the profiles I typically played either went up in points, stayed the same, or had rule changes that effectively lost abilities. I am still planning to play vanilla, but I am really holding out hope for SP.

One change that I think is significant for vanilla (and maybe OSS?) is the Danavas Hacker’s utility went way down. Previously she could buff a Dakini, drop white noise, and kill enemy hackers with maestro. Now, she can do exactly one of those things. The 3pt discount is nice, but its going to be much harder for me to include her in lists. To compensate, I will need to bring an EVO hacker and upgrade one of my Nagas from a minelayer to a KHD.

One change I think is great are the Asura options in vanilla. I will definitely be including her more often.

well, in vanilla I'd go for a combi-toting myrmidon (looking at the Daturazis, I expect the Myrms to improve), Pentesilea, or Achilles... For OSS I'd go with a Dakini, frankly... and the Total Reaction with the Apsaras!

Right now, the only viable Dasyu for SF is, for me, the FO profile (36pts), since the other combi profile is the KHD, and can be negated with an enemy KHD (of which there are several options in all factions, at least one per faction deploys forward, and tend to be cheaper than the Dasyu).

non-character greeks and Diomedes seem to have been directly copy-pasted from N3. I think the Myrmidons will remain as is, or even improve (the daturazi have been buffed with several skills and more CC), and the Ekdromoi might receive super-jump, due to the nerf and their already cheap chain rifle profile (plus parachutist)

Yep, the Asura Hacker is quite the option now, she still is a premium PI, but worth every single point...

In Vanilla, Thrasymedes with infiltrator actually seems like the ideal troop to grant that starting supression.

Seems with the latest Army update Kusanagi and Umbras got Shock Immunity. Are there any non-Aleph units with NWI and without Shock Immunity left? Way to turn a faction strength into a faction weakness.

P.S.: Sorry for the negative posts. I just post the stuff which makes me scratch my head and not the stuff I like. All in all I am pretty happy with 4th Edition.

NWI without Shock Immune feels way more appropriate for MI and characters. The combo of NWI/Shock Immune is over-distributed now.

I feel it's something that's appeared due to a sharp increase in shock ammunition in recent years. Shock ammunition got oversaturated so the value of NWI dropped, so they had to do something to balance it out.

Honestly I feel that the problem would have been resolved better by limiting shock ammo. SMG's and shock-marksmanship rifles and such that seemingly just had the ammo type slapped on to have less normal ammo guns at the time as an attempt to spice the game up.

Shock ammo made Multiweapons actually worth what they cost.

NWI is an inherently risky way of operating. It works well with Shock Immune on the more HI-type NWI units and not on the normal-human-but-tough NWI units.

Sombras are a pretty good example of who should -not- have Shock Immune, but do.

Exactly my sentiment. And at the moment it gets handed around to everyone and their mother without any discernable price increase. NWI seems to be an expensive skill (as it should be), Shock Immunity not. But the combination is twice as effective as NWI alone (at least against skilled opponents). Together with the increased appearance of SMGs/Red Furys, units with just NWI (at least the old ones like Devas) feel overpriced compared to units with both NWI and Shock Immunity.

Huh, I haven’t looked at all the changes yet, especially Nomads since I don’t play them, but it’s sure hard not to be perma-salty with them “always” getting everything that’s cool and then some. I mean I like a lot of their models and profiles, but to me they seem to be so obviously favored by CB that I just can’t bring myself to touch them because it would feel lame. I might be wrong but at least in my small meta there’s a lot of Nomad-“disdain” because of that.

Ahh, nice to see people salty at Nomads getting too much attention, at the same time as Nomads players being salty about being ignored.

As both a Nomads (CJC) and Aleph (OSS) player, I wish Aleph (especially Phalanx) would get some of the love Nomads just got.

This is typically cyclical with CB. Nomads are getting love now, they'll get less later when other factions get theirs. We (the players) just love our toys and all notice what everyone else has or is getting.

I will admit I don't understand Nomads players who feel "unloved," though. We do have it pretty good and get lots of cool stuff.

Possibly it's because Aleph had all their cool, funky stuff early on. Posthumans remain a unique, game warping unit with awesome fluff and rules. Hector was the first Human Sphere trooper with plasma, Enormoustacos was, along with Triad, the first Fireteam you could have multiples of. Netrods and Imetrons provide dirt cheap orders, and the Marut is the only MSV TAG IIRC.

Aleph has always had a lot of really neat stuff, so maybe it just doesn't feel as "new." Familiarity breeding contempt and all that jazz.

There's also that they had some very optimised profiles before N4 so less things went down in cost.
