Just a little reminiscing on those named heroes we lost in the new edition. Teucer, who's big gun didn't mean that he was trying to compensate for anything(or so he claimed). He shot down TAGs like a champ. Patroclus, who gave us an incentive to buy multiple identical Achilles models and thus blessed the table with too much beauty to handle. With the loss of this man history tells that Achilles will now shut himself in a tent for a while and cry. Phoenix. Destroyer of armies. He saw the world as a sea of flames. I know our enemies will celebrate not having to cower in fear from him again. Scylla, our lady of many faces. She will no longer single handedly cover half the field in repeaters or congaline with her robots to cover them from sight while disguised. Drakios, who would bring his squad into solid defensive position right under the nose of that damn Nisse. The right tool for the job. Ajax, the beast. Few will ever charge TAGs headfirst through reflexive flamethrowers to punch them on the nose like you did. Eudoros, who led the first squads for many of us. The living eclipse grenade dispenser, always solid. Acmon, engineer extraordinaire. No one ever expects the panzerfaust. Thamyris. You were there too, I guess. Heroes one, heroes all. (Gone until second wave at least)
Given that they lacked equipment and profiles, that makes sense. Shame though, feels like there's even less reason to play Vanilla for now.
Yeah, just the change to "iKohl" affecting Structure was enough to make Penny a lot more appealing, the +1CC, swapping the Contender for another Nanopulser, Shock Immunity, Bioimmunity (effective +2 ARM), and -4 points make her pretty awesome looking. Atalanta is likewise better at her hunting role, usually making out with +1BS, and I think the TR profile looks like a lot of fun. I think Phalanx will be a lot of fun to put on the table come the November update.
If the rest of the crew follow suit with Penny, Atalanta, and Hector's reworks I am so very excited for Steel Phalanx in Nov
Nobody remember our humble and nameless heroes? What about the pretty thorakitai?!?!?! No more guarding our corners with a 360° arm 3 chain rifle! :( Enviado desde mi Mi A1 mediante Tapatalk
I don’t like being negative. But the loss of so many characters to vanilla aleph has seriously diminished my wanting to play n4. ( still have yet to play a game ) I hope they bring some Of them back in the second wave, and don’t just jam all of them into steel phalanx only. I’ve alway liked vanilla aleph for the large selection of characters.
Yeah, we'll have them back in less than two months. Until then we can play with the few named characters with changes that we've got. Atalanta got a cool defensive option, Penthesilea got tougher and got a burst 2 template to play with, Andromeda can do close combat at range and Hector has become a hell of a general sporting both strategos l1 and two lieutenant orders on a badass profile.
Atalanta, libertos, monstrucker, myrmidon (spitfire esp), achilles v1 & v2, Penny, and hector. I am missing several but these are all noticeably solid models If all of these models don't particularly interest you then vanilla is not worth it at this time and OSS would be ideal for the 2 months till we get all of our heros back.
I’m just missing my Patroclus. My poor Achilles has been wrought with grief ever since he lost his favorite boytoy.
Look at the Daturazi profile and think they are the more savage Myrmidons... Pistol to Heavy Pistol, +2CC, Berserker, and AP to DA in the cheapest profile with +1Burst to his chain rifle...
Ouch! I feel like I should defend Thamyris, but yeah, I got nothing. He was there, he was definitely there. Ajax. Him I really miss. I think the only model in my collection that could come close to his body count would be Atalanta. I don't think I ever finished a game with him in a non-null state, but he almost always left a path of destruction and devastation behind him. Looking forward to November. I hope they keep the essence of the angry-bald-giant.
I doubt Ajax will change much. He's already a fairly unique profile in SP and the greater Aleph as he is, and thus is not stepping on anyone's toes. They might take away his nanopulser though, seems that they're confiscating a lot of those.
