Certain profiles have Gizmokits with +1 Burst, they can be found in nomads, but in a more general sense, there are a number of troops who could get a Burst bonus to their Gizmokits from being linked. The rules are very clear about how to resolve multiple hits, what remains unclear is, when utilizing the Gizmokit via Silhouette contact do you still benefit from this burst bonus? ► Used remotely, a GizmoKit is considered a Non-Lethal BS Weapon. If the user passes a BS Attack Roll, applying the corresponding MODs (for Range, Cover, etc.), the target will perform a single PH Roll. ► A GizmoKit can also be used in Silhouette contact. To do so, the user must spend one Short Skill, without the need for a Roll, and their target will perform a PH Roll. My gut reaction was no, but then it does seem kind of weird, given the benefit of hitting multiple times with a gizmokit at once, that the profiles with +1 Burst built into them by default are actually arguably less effective at using their Gizmokit while in base contact?
GizmoKits only have a Burst value in ranged mode, so I think you’ve answered your own question. Note that most of the time, when in base contact the Trooper will choose to use the Engineer Skill and their WIP, which will almost always be higher than the target’s PH, and allows use of Command Token re-rolls if the target has Remote Presence and STR.
Thanks for the reply. I ask because for models without remote presence, I think there's a lot of times I'd rather the double gizmokit roll to a not re-rollable engineer roll, particularly for a model like the clockmaker who gets into the realm of triple gizmokit rolls if linked in Bakunin. It makes sense that Burst is a specific function of using something in a weapon mode, but I think it's also kind of disappointing.
You can still choose to shoot. To be blunt, I think you're expecting way too much from what's effectively a zero-cost upgrade.
