Do we have info on what will be the new Aristeia products for 2021? Will CB continue with 2 character expansions?
Nothing at the moment. Last words from CB is that we reached a good balance with 32 characters. There is also the new expansion Multi player mod to come late November which will grant us players a lot of new fun games with others. Maybe we will have fresh news after that, but who knows? Unfortunately Covid19 changes every plan every day...
Considering the delays they had getting the plastic parts of Defiance from China they might be spending much of 2021 just getting more stock of the existing expansions!
I am hoping there'll be more neoprene maps. Core set B side, plus the Prime Time map. Aristeia is in an amazing place, and feels quite good :)
I am hoping the opposite and that the Saif Traders Coliseum gets a cardboard version. It feels a bit strange for me to have cardboard versions and one that is just a neoprene version.
Fair enough. Better than paper maps either way though! (not that I don't understand why other companies use paper maps)
Whereas I don't disagree with there being a good balance with 32 characters. How would you like to see Aristeia grow? More money into marketing? More scenarios? Personally I think there is scope for more scenarios/alternative rules. I would like to see a scenario similar to crystal hall where each tile you land on has something hidden under it. The goal in that game is to find the crystals but you may land on portals or any number of useful objects or traps. I think a set of rules for this alternative style of game could be fairly easily drawn up with the existing board and Aristos.
I would love if CB takes the cool rules and makes it into a dungeon crawler. Basically defiance but in the less serious sports backdrop. And more skins! I love my alternative skins
A dungeon crawler would be a nice addition, I was a bit surprised defiance was only availiable as a kick starter. I am starting to like the idea of dungeon crawler games. At this rate I will go for gloomhaven lions den as I like the fact the book is the map (less faff setting up) and most importantly the price. Would be cool to have an Aristeia version though.
Wasn’t Defiance the dungeon crawler based on Aristeia mechanics? I was able to get on the KS, but I’m sad they weren’t able to make that a general release product in some way.
We started out on Aristeia! engine, but Defiance has its own requirements. We had to accomplish them to build a dungeon crawler with these. If I made a dc with Aristeia! I wouldn't make it that way, of course. One point to think about: Infinity is the wargame, Aristeia! is a tv show. What kind of dc do you want? The "war simulator" or the spectacular (more "cinematographic")?
More like a TV show base I guess. Not really sure on mechanics haha just theorising. But it could be a race to the finish or a race to collect hidden items. Foul play (attacking each other) is allowed of course. Hidden tiles/traps could be a poison dart, hidden passage ways, movement/energy debuffs, or extra dice for use later etc.
Or maybe a bit of character development over a „campaign“ = season similar to the N2 Spec Ops. But probably a bit hard to put rules down for this, because people go crazy very easily with character creation
I think you will see such special spaces with Prime Time. @Croepoek Yes, character development is a thing but you get this to some point with the league rules. I am not sure if a balanced and because of that competitive game needs such things. And it is always up to you to write stories about Aristeia! and/or play the roleplaying game in the Infinity universe and create a setting around Aristeia!
Unviable in Aristeia! Unless we create the path, with no options. It'd be the only way to sure some kind of "balance".
One with a story, not just bashing monster faces in. Look at the story mechanisms in Dead of Winter and This War of Mine, for examples.
Not that I need more A! Content ... I don't have time etc righy now... But I can think of a lot of ways uneven progression could be balanced (or at least fun) The first thing that comes to mind is blood bowl, where team are given a budget based on how unfair the matchup is to buy extra stuff. The money could buy extra/different tactics cards, or arena rules that happen to favor the weaker team. It's certainly not minor undertaking to develop the progression rules (and potential perks for the underdogs) but it's certainly viable.
License the fanmade sportgames from interplanetario already ^^ Adapt them to the aristea dice. Pick a set of existing characters whose fluff might fit. Expand the universe with new ones. Release them as expansiontype boxes to buff aristeia core bpx sales further. Sounds super ez to me ( obvious sarcasm ). You created the "n universe" logo, bit so far nothing major was done with it.
