Though I like the way some new forumites come here occasionally telling us off for talking off-topic in the news thread.

I appreciate you being a mouth piece to CB for this IJW, it's rules quirk that was on my most wanted for N4 changes list. Official Battle Reports are in no way ruling or statements on the current rules, but I do think it's telling that in the Spiral Corps report, that Bostria has his Kiel-sann short skill jump at the same time the other members of his team perform a normal move. I don't say this as a gotcha to Bostria or any members of the team that made the vid, but just to illustrate how intuitive it feels that super jumping units in a link should be able jump as the team moves:

I cut to the roughly 11:40 mark where it happens.

Sadly, it wouldn't be the first time when Bostria slipped during a battle report.
So I wouldn't, personally, attributing much weight to what is shown in such a vid. Errae humanum est.

Well that was my point, it was a human error that is easy to make, because it makes sense that it would work that way.

Bostria has an additional excuse having playtested way too many versions of the rules.

I don't actually agree that this is a common mistake (it is at least far, far, faaaaar, less common that jumping from a prone position which wasn't allowed in N3 but people did anyway). It's a common wish for people to want to move while someone else Jumps*, but I don't think I've encountered anyone doing so in error.

    * Though personally I always found climbing (non-plussed** climbing) while in a Fireteam to be far more difficult to manage and N4 doesn't look like it'll fix that at all
    ** Yes, that's a pun

Would it help them if we started calling it the Monthly News and Forum Chatbox thread? That's what these threads are, and have been for the past 4 versions of the forums of which I am aware.

Still, all the rules discussion would have been better placed elsewhere, where people might look for it in the future. No worry, discussion of the new cover rules will come up again in as soon as 8-9 days from now... and again shortly after that...and again... repeat ad nauseum.

Say, why did no one photo shop an Antipode interacting with the fire hydrant in a way that male canines are known to interact with fire hydrants?

This is one of the drawbacks of the weird mixed fireteams. I just had it happen to me with a mix of Ye Mao (Super Jump) and a Tian Gou holoed as a Shang Ji. I couldn't move him at all if i wanted to do a SJ unless I wanted to leave him out of coherency on the next order. I had do regular move, and then the super jump just so I could keep them together. It sucked. It's a waste of an order but it is what it is. It really makes me think about mixing wildcards in with those troops. If I do, i might as well forget about doing the Super Jump unless I have to.

This table reminds me I want better ITS guidelines on tables and terrain useage.

Is that a sweet looking table for a fun home game? Yes.
Is it absolutely unplayable in a tournament and should you sock the TO with a Jotum for putting it on? Also yes.
Wouldn't mind an ITS Extra to specifically incentivize really wacky tables like a "MOAR TERRAIN" one though.

    unplayable? No.

You bring to the tournament long range oriented lists and have to play in that table? Bad luck. Adapt.

I played many times in interior spaces or in mazes.

Was explicitly talking about tournaments though? Why wouldn't I bring a tournament list for a tournament, where I know jack shit about the tables for the tournament and only get to prepare for the missions of the tournament?

That table craps on C+, Superjump, Snipers, HMGs, MLs, ITS Missions and so on.
It's a Warband and Camo Infiltrator Fiesta though. Not to mention what 4 Jammers and a bunch of (N3) Shotguns could do on it.

If you can't see why someone could possibly not like it under the premise of being a competetive ITS tournament okay, your oppinion I guess, free country. Most people would like to not get screwed over like that though.
Finding out your NCA lists just don't work against the Haqq guy you got paired against in game 3 on that table isn't going to be fair balanced or fun unless you're in something like a 0SWC tournament where everyone is in it for the heck of it anyway.

Lmao, thanks for your expert opinion on wacky tables.
Couldn't come up with anyone to pull as reference till today, at least now I know a guy ;)

You must be new here, Welcome to the forums.

This one always gets broken out at tournaments (only time it justifies the set up and tear down), and it plays very well in competitive ITS setting. there are enough long fire lanes that you can use longer range weapons without them being a waste of points even though it does favour.
The table allows for more tactical options at the cost of a little order efficiency, the ability to open and close doors to force a warband to take a longer path (often towards a TR bot), or to drain an extra order is great, along with antimaterial weapons to blow holes in the walls to strike from an unexpected angle is a great option to have up your sleeve (done a couple of times once with a wildcat team and another with achilles to get behind their main fire teams and wreck them).

We also have a jungle terrain table that is more open and covered with low vis+saturation zones so it all balances out in the end.

Yeah I can see how one table with double the terrain and one table with no terrain and only zone stuff cancels out in the end.
Especially if I only get to play on one of them and didn't know either was coming.

It is a pretty table though.

Man that NCA player I mentioned would have a blast using all his awesome CC Specialists to get thorugh those walls ;D

Anyway, emphasis mine on more ITS terrain guidelines.

Table is modular and is set up the night before to accomodate the missions being played.
Snipers and HMGs are fine, they just aren''t the be all and end all god weapons in a fire team for once.
MLs are hot trash to begin with so no real loss there.

We use a lot of the terrain rules here so you need to be prepared for anything and be adaptable.

Whats an NCA player? dont think Ive seen one of those since VIRD dropped. The MO players love it though. also it's any antimaterial so feuerbachs, MLs and other ranged options can get it done too.

Ohh, and its fair than my Ariadna list will have nothing to do against a list full of visors, a bunch of low visibility zones and almost no cover?

Or being paired against a heavy hacking list playing with full HI?

    Is luck.

What do you want is play the game under YOUR terms.

Funnily enough that type of table would be one of about 2 situations that would actually warrant digging out a Locust for once.

I'm generally fine with wacky and unusual tables at tournaments. The general meta is built off the assumption of an extremely specific type of table layout, so it's good to have a change with some indoor boards, fancy terrain rules and high rooftops. Lets you break out some of the weirder stuff without feeling strictly punished for your choices.
