To be honest, BJC is my main sectorial but I gave up on the hope that CB will ever do something for them. I'm expecting that they remove the Prowler in N4 because they got sick of thinking about how to fix him. And not even half-bad. Given that CJC was designed as the least hacking-prone of the three nomad sectorials they are getting better and better. A WIP13 BTS6 KHD is more than solid.
There is no Fireteam: Core special skill. Army puts it under Skills/equipment as a reminder, but it's a function of the Sectorial not the trooper themselves. It is never shown in Vanilla.
I wished they would finally find a more intuitive way to display the relevant fireteam rules. So many unnecessary discussions over the years... However, thanks for the clarification.
I hope they don't, that profile only needs a points reduction, 4-4 and a relevant specialist type like FO or spec-op baseline and it's set. They also have the best repeater network out of the other two, Rems, Iguana, Morans, Deployable repeaters on the AD troops and bandits, linked pitchers, Bille. just lacked the tools to reall abuse it until recently.
On fireteams, I do hope the Fireteam document contains all the sectorial Fireteam charts in the game for reference so you you don't have to look in a bunch a different places.
In that case give zeros some LFTs, a BS bump, grenades and a spitfire. I'm good with either. EDIT: Also I keep forgetting that there's a Zero FO
It's the same situation as in the NuWildcat vs Grenzer discussion. Some say they are basically the same unit now, some see differences. I claim the differences between Prowler and Zero are minor (maybe excluding the dtw) and may not justify two units with hypothetical limited slots, give the Zero a Red Fury profile maybe with BS+1, the new rules allow it. Here they are even in the same sectorial.
A Spitfire on an Infiltrator is substantial. I think it's just the Prowler and Daofei in the game who have such a good deployment skill combined with a full 4-burst gun, and Camo to boot. Its damn strange pricing (+14 points over a Zero for a LFT, ADHL, Bioimmunity with no BTS and nearly negligible stat increases?), complete with SWC tax for Specialist Operative of all things, lets it down. The Prowler was clearly meant to be a shooty alternative to the Zero's Skirmisher, I think all it needs is a price review and maybe Breaker on that Combi to make it a better heavy-hunter.
the difference is the role, one is primarily a specialist platform and is built to do so in an incredibly efficient manner and is only beat out by the foxtrot in that regard. The other is primarily a beatstick that hides in among the camo field ready to pop out and do some real damage, and if it wasn't for the unfortunate costing it'd be a fairly good at it. also please no more red furies, like the shock marksman rifle and SMG they really need to stop existing, way too much shock in the game which really hurts the elite single wound pieces like MI.
Yeah, the old shock discussion. I am with you, it was just an example for a B4 weapon which does not shift the role of the Zero to much towards HI-killer. Imho shock weapons are urgently needed to fight the overabundance of NWI units (given there still some without shock immunity...). BJC in particular is lacking shock ammunition. Apart from some overprived MULTI rifles here and there we only have MML2 on drones, some MSR and the Taskmaster with Red Fury. How about changing the effect of shock to: "Each ARM Roll failed against Shock Special Ammunition causes the target to being unable to activate V: Dogged and V: NWI."
Eh, Red Furies would be alright if not for their shameful pricing compared to the Spitfire. Shock's tradeoffs are meant to be a cost increase on the weapon and the possibility you may run into Bolts or their ilk. SMGs are worse because they evade both downsides with their cheap MULTI option, at least SMRs are genuinely stymied by Bolts and are fairly costly for their DAM13. I feel your pain with the 1W troop vulnerability though, it's part of why I run more REMs than my regular opponent's OSS. I used to play Bakunin as my tournament army, never found it short on Shock. Don't forget the Zero's Mines or the Lizard's big MULTI HMG! In addition, Bakunin has a multitude of ways to shut enemies down without killing them through easy access to Stun ammo, Zero E/Maulers, Morlock CC and good Hacking. Bakunin suffers far more from enemies having Shock, with the Observance guys and gals being poster children for Elite 1W Medium Infantry. Shock Immunity on at least the Sin Eater and ideally Moirae would be a big help to Bakunin, Shock Immunity on Kusanagi would help but would also make her Part Of The Problem thanks to the NWI. Plus, don't forget that some of that Assisted Fire goes on Pi-Well, who is a demonic ball of murder whom your enemies will grow to despise, and on several Nomad REMs with such skills as Climbing Plus and even AD:Combat Jump (speaking of, no SWC tax on Meteor please CB?). Nomad combat REMs may not stack up with the superpowers' options but their utility drones are tied with the Combined for the game's best.
doesnt need to be that specific just something that turns off all unconscious skills, hits everything from dogged to gakis and kuang shi exploding in your face
One of the major problems, especially considering that the embedded doctor they can take does nothing when things get shocked. The other colossal problem for Moiras now and even more so going into N4 is DTWs having a 5 point idiot roll around a corner slap down a template that ignores that expensive ODD your carrying and not need a roll to hit so you cant even use your superior stats youve paid for to negate it while it takes down a third of the team. It isn't fun. This issue is exacerbated by the shotgun change so between it and the amount of shock they seem to handing out right now I doubt you will see many moiras (or phalanx) in N4
A little off topic, but ODD costs exactly three points judging by Pi-Well. It's kinda crazy how expensive Moirae are, actually, taking that into consideration. I've never seen the fabled Moira Link out in the wild but I know singleton Snipers or HMGs are still semi-popular. Moirae might be situationally awesome in N4 though, thanks to the MSV changes allowing a Grrl Haris or just about anything MSV in Vanilla (such as the new Wildcat HRL or Cheerkiller!) to watch for said 5 point idiots through Smoke while the Moirae do something in active. Points will be crunchy, but Moira bloat seems to be mostly in the rifle (more expensive to get a MULTI over Combi than ODD over Combi...) and the ARM, both of which are pretty much confirmed to be getting discounted.
I did run a moira link in one list and a riot grrl link in the 2nd at one big regional event. Placed in top 3. Moira HMG was knee deep in spent casings by the end of it, it worked really well. Several of the boards were quite open though so def favoured my approach
I like the new profile for the Wildcats, but I also liked the Grenzers before . As a crazy idea, why don't we enhance the durability of the units by giving them more W/Str? Like 1 for LI and SK, 2 for MI, 3 for HI, 4 for TAG, REMs stay the same as now and WB will stay one 1, except DogWarrior, Wulver and the like. So especially MI would profit from this, while being more expensive and mostly more toolboxy, they now would also be more durable then LI (just the Armor does not do them justice in being more durable fluffwise)
It would make the game more of a slugfest. It would probably increase the appeal of non-killing weaponry (like ADHL), but in general the turns would be more boring (more plain shooting with less exciting results). MI have more armor, but usually also more BTS and more varied tools than LI (almost all Combat Jump troops are MI). LI is the most varied troop category overall, but MI usually gets the most things on a single troop.
