Okay, I think I misinterpreted Rapid Response. This could be a nice 3rd sectorial. If it has a lot of Smoke or Camo it could even fit fluffwise, as Aleph is still concerned about her Reputation. And if the Immortals are as good/undying as Necron I would gladly take them , especially since the Invincible army is not invincible at all :yum:.

Or, and this is radical - bear with me, ASS could be reworked with 3D sculpts and some rule tweaks.

I don't really see where these rumors base on...there are basically two kinds of units in ALEPH: taken from Greek or Vedic mythology...plus REMs and Proxies. All of them are neatly packed into their respective sectorials. Pumping out another one would just be a bastardization (for a lack of a better term) of a pretty well organized roster. Besides being way too amped, that's one thing ALEPH does right...structure. Other than that I have to agree: ALEPH needs a rework, but no further sectorials.

@Sergej Faehrlich there are no rumors about a new sectorial. It's just that when one sectorial retires, the faction often gets a new one instead of reworking the older

@Dragonstriker I am with you, new models and a rework would be totally okay and enough, but one can dream of new shiny toys :yum:

@Sergej Faehrlich I agree that Aleph does structure right. All our models tend to be made for a role and fill it to some adequate degree. We do not have the Nomad problem in this case which is way to much bloat in the similar roles (sucuritates vs moderators vs alguacil for instance). Nomads other problem is 1 of X like the intruder being the only MSV 2. I do think Aleph could use some more robustness to its roster, for instance a different TAG.
As for a secitorial I figure it will eventually happen and it is fun to speculate. Look at the weaknesses of Aleph, the play styles missing and come up with an idea of how you would fill it while maintaining the themes of the faction and design of the faction. One thing I want but do not think we will get is some more units that brake the traditionally human forms of the current Lhost, sort of like how the Marut has 4 arms, but I do not think we will see that.

@Dragonstriker when it comes down to it I think SP need a few tweaks on comp, rules, and gear to make them worth it. I do think they will do a new Aleph force though while they think about how they want SP to be and the most likely I feel is a Toth force.

    Aleph != O-12
Bureaux are not appropriate as Aleph sectorial armies.
I even question O-12’s appropriateness as a playable faction.

I agree but it seems like how they are taking O 12 sectorials is different branches or task forces of Aegis, so Toth does not fit. Alternatively where Toth is part of O 12 it seems to also be separate in the form that there main role involves Aleph, some of its activities as well as budget is not documented to keep Aleph itself from having a full understanding of there scope. Alternatively we could end up with a Starmada Hector thing where a Toth agent or units is in O 12 but a bunch of models are added to Aleph and then a Toth agent can be used by Aleph only in X secitorial.

Ether way I will be painting my Toth when they do them in my O 12 colors, just like my Hector is in my SP colors.

I think Aleph should get a Nahuas people based sectorial like the Aztecs.

Or one based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms because a Liu Bu recreation would rock.

I'm really a sucker for recreations and I wish so many of them weren't just spread among the sphere, so a sectorial that could deliver a high number of recreations without stepping on SP's toes would be slick.

While I'm not convinced that Aleph needs a third sectorial, I also like @D_acolyte's Rapid Response idea. One issue is that it'll still step on OSS toes - the latter is simply so large and versatile, that any new sectorial will have to share a significant part of its theme.

One think to combat it a bit would be to mix in something from O12. For example Betatroopers seem like a perfect fit for a sectorial focusing on rapid deployment and mobility. And it wouldn't be as much of a stretch as with other factions.

Considering the fluff, ALEPH shouldn't be that prevalent in the first place...these forces are elite in the truest sense of the word. Thus another sectorial seems somewhat out of place.

What Iwould love to see is something like embedded forces...Acon did that to a degree, but I feel that ALEP units would make a nice set of complementary units for another NA2 or even PanO or Yu Jing sectorial...hell, even Starmada could have been something really interesting with some ALEPH here and there.

Agreed, I'd love to see those little integrations. Pano actually has several sectorials that do that (SAA, NCA, even the military orders have Dart) and Yu Jing has Imperial Service, but after that it gets very sparse on the ground. I think O-12 and the lone Danavas in White Company are the only other ones that have it. I was actually really disappointed in White company, as I thought the fluff of him having Aleph support would have manifested in something other than one lone hacker.

I am not that firm with Aztec History, but what I recall is not really positiv. So I doubt that Aleph would take such Names, when it will probably harm her Reputation. Afterall she wants to be our friend :yum:. But this sectorial could bring a bit more Camo, as Aleph currently is a bit low on this.

Hm. Maybe Aleph will pivot to a Roman recreation since the Human Sphere is moving to more of a direct war footing. Mars TAG, Velites and Princeps LI, Legionary and Centurion MI, Praetorian and Legate HI, Venator SK, and assorted REMs named after seige engines or special troops like cavalry archers (sagittairii).

I am not sure if this isn't to close to the Greek/SP to justify a new sectorial. Maybe just take your ideas to expand SP :
    • Mars TAG can just be renamed to Ares (or better we take the impersonation TAG "Trojan Horse":yum:)
    • for more Heavys Hopliten would be a good possibility
    • not sure if more LI and MI would be nessesary, but some SK would be nice
    • If we get a second combat drone, something mobile would fit the Assault theme

The third sectorial could be something hidden from the human sphere. A project purely by ALEPH itself.
Like Starmada and Kosmoflott it could be spacebound. There is an army of Space Crafts, specialists and boarding crews made to make humanity survive in space combat against the E.I and to evacuate humankind to space in case of emergency - said, if everything fails.

The units are nothing like the humanlike Devas but more of the machinelike robots as the Devabots, Rebots and Probots are. They come in all sizes and shapes, cold, grey and only optimized to function properly. Some Devas and Cyberdancers are also in the Sectorial, because internaly all of ALEPH knows of the existance of this hidden armada, but the rest of the human sphere is blinded by faked data and false scanning reports. It is hidden directly in front of their noses. Until it is needed....

@Daniel Darko the cover would be blown the moment one of Aleph's troops would go rogue, like Perseus.

But I really like the idea. And I know who would fit perfectly into this sectorial. Odysseus.

Hell, it could be an NA2 instead of a "proper" Aleph sectorial, much like Spiral Corps are one for the Tohaa. Not a secret Aleph project, but a force comprised of troopers that either went rogue or were thought to be compromised by CA - or other factions - and thus got cut off from Aleph herself. Without Aleph's guidance and on the run, but with their loyalty still intact, they've taken upon themselves the mantle of humanity's invisible shield. Commanded by Odysseus, drawing upon any resources they can aquire - going as far as capturing, purging, and retrofitting CA technology - their ships patrol the distant perimeter, intercepting many alien ships before they can become a danger to Human Sphere. Many crews were saved from Combined Army forces attack only by the sudden appearance of mysterious force that seemed to use both human and alien tech, destroyed the enemy with cold, machine-like precision, and disappeared back into the void leaving no body, either their own or CA troopers', behind.

Also, Eclipse Phase RPG is a great source of inspiration for purely robotic units (and lhosts, but that's another subject):

Wherever would they get their pop culture references from?

Oh, that works. An Odysseus space force consisting of a steel phalanx core with a lot of vaguely affiliated aliens could work. The existing heroes might not work, but I am sure there could be other emergent phalangites in the force. Penelope and Telemachos should be in there. Maybe a Cyclops TAG of unknown origin. Sygmaa renegades, libertos rescued from PanO prison camps, a Nomad tech-renegade named Circe. And it could either be an NA2, or arrive at a point in the plot that earns Odysseus a place back in the Human Sphere.

I'd be a good place for the Defiance crew to be able to team up again, ForCo A-Team style.
