    Unless they have eaten squirrel. Although one tends to remove the head and the feet prior to cooking, unless spit-roasting them. So far my Jack Russell Terrier has caught 7 squirrels this summer. Nice, meaty ones too. :) Not a bad high score for a 21 month old dog. He's a real Jack Russell, with the long legs. Sometimes called a Parson Jack Russell.

    For those wondering, cuy, or cuy-cuy is also called cobaya, and in English, guinea pig. Cuy-cuy is the sound they make; It's like calling a chicken a cluck-cluck. Speaking of chickens, in pre-Colombian times, the guinea pig filled a role in the Andean region similar to that of chickens elsewhere in the world, except for the egg laying.

    Still do. It was mildly disorienting when I was first asked to pick my dinner from the hutch... would capybara or tapir move into the realm of exotic?

    And I’m still waiting on the cake I was promised...

    But how do they taste?

    There’s a pub in The Rocks (old Sydney) which does woodfired pizza. Their toppings range from the relatively mundane (More! Bacon!) to the relatively exotic (crocodile).
    Crocodile goes better on pizza than I imagined possible. Disappointingly, despite having both kangaroo and emu as toppings, there’s no coat of arms pizza. That’s a missed opportunity.

    Well, cuy taste much like rabbit, and typically quite tender. One cuy is the perfect size for a single adult.

    There used to be a steakhouse in Pitt Street Sydney that did a "Coat of arms" item on the menu - which was Roo and Emu. They also did camel, croc and buffalo, in addition to the usual cow, pork and chicken. This place is long since gone (was next door to the old Pitt street cinema complex, upstairs in that strip mall area).
