THIS ! There's paint everywhere in my house, we got rid of all wallpapers with my wife. Now it's all just paint and some decorative wall decals. Now kids can happily draw on the walls... We're getting rid of kids !

Why do restaurants insist on advertising appetisers and sides as "sharing" portions and then giving you a prime number?

There is no way to fairly share 5, or 7 chicken wings or pickle spears, stop it!

In Italy we are reopening almost everything.
We (should) have to keep masks in closed environments or whenever you cannot keep social distances.

When you go to a restaurant or a pub, you have to move with mask, you are allowed to remove it only at your table.

    If only...

Last night i was having dinner with wife. There was a toddler crawling all over the fucking place.

A friend of mine works in this domain: "revenue optimization for tourism industry" or something like that. Part of the job obviously focus on restaurants, and believe it or not but this kind of things is heavily thought through.
I would bet that those prime numbers are choosen so
    - You want to order 2 or 3 (same or different) items to share with your friends
    - Keep the price in the best range according to the global menu

And there are dozens of shenanigans to play with. Pay some attention next time you go to an all-you-can-eat buffet; most times, the most expensive dishes are surrounded by cheap ones so once you're done serving salmon (for eample), you fill your plate with cheap stuff instead of moving to the next worst possibility (from the restaurant income point of view).

If you can't control your kids, you need to be charged with neglect in these times.

It's incredible the number of people I've seen at buffets who willingly just fill their plate with chips.

And what about a good old wedding buffet? Where the guest fill their plates like nothing more would come and then they are left over dishes you accurately selected for them, sometimes avoiding something YOU like because THEY don't...

Apparently we had some very strong gusts of wind yesterday, allegedly because we were hit by the edge of a storm headed to Ireland.
That would explain the sight I saw while driving home:
I was sitting in traffic and just about to start moving again, when I caught some movement right at the edge of my vision...
I looked round just in time to see a trampoline cartwheeling over a garden wall and making its way towards the road.

Thankfully I managed to avoid it. I didn't look in my mirrors to see what was happening as traffic was pretty active, but that certainly wasn't something I ever thought I'd see outside of YouTube.

With the noise of the wind, too - it was like a budget knock-off of The Prisoner.

Trampolines have an uncanny sense for oncoming storms and are often the first creatures to migrate to safer areas before the weather system arrives.

We're right in the edge of "Fourteen" and all our patio furniture has been moving around this morning with the wind. Going to be a lot of heavy rain and wind over the next few days.

It's probably for the best that we're keeping our kid away from big, public areas like shopping centres. She's learning to count, but still needs to work on the pronunciation.
It could get a bit awkward if she decided to count while out in public, as right now her numerical system includes "Sex!" and "Satan!"

Quite a common thing but I never get used to.
Yesterday I missed a letter delivery as the postman came while I was away (so far it's just a case of Murphy's law).
As it requires signature I have to go to the post office to get it and as mentioned on the notice I can get it from today 2:00 PM.
2:25PM I'm at the desk and ... they obviously didn't receive those yet.

A quirk of living on a tiny island is that the Govt postal service doesn't do delivery, there are about a dozen post offices and everyone has a 24hr accessible PO Box for mail.

The exception is anything that has duty that requires assessing/paying. These have to be inspected by Customs staff at the Airport post office, but the Customs staff are only there 11:30-2:30, and if you don't work in the Georgetown then you generally won't have time to get there during your lunch break.

However! A few months ago my wife discovered that they have a service where for extra $5 you can submit your invoices online, they assess your goods, then delivery them to your home or office and charge you with a mobile chip&pin. After using this service a few times she asked the delivery guy why they don't advertise it more and he responded "If we advertise it more people will use it, and we don't have the budget to hire more people."

A bit of WWTF (no, it's not a new wresting federation. At least AFAIK) : Windows what the Eff.

Since last year or even more, I struggled with a slow responding Steam. It took 20-30s or more for anything as launching Steam, launching a game, launching the store page, the game library page ...
And it appeared all of a sudden.

I asked my best friend (Google not to name it) and tried any solution I could find. As I had an HDD crash I even did a full reinstall.
It worked for a few days then it popped again pretty quickly.

As I spend too much time and can live with such a delay (honestly, there's so many things more serious than that) I get used to it.

Last month, I built a new config. New CPU, new MB, new RAM and obviously fresh Windows installation.
For the full month, Steam was running like a charm. Then, from one day to the next, tada !!! Steam slow again.

So I decided to seriously get my old IT tech's cap and find what the hell is the cause of this.
Searching on several forums, Steam community threads ... everything is at least 2 years old and sometime more. SO nothing relevant and nothing fixing the problem. The only thing is everything is pointing to something browser's related (cache and cookies mostly).

Then I realised than the only thing that changed was the Windows Update that put Edge on the machine.
Obviously, first action : uninstall it.

Well, my friends, it won't be that simple. It just can't be uninstalled.
But my people are known to be quite stubborn, so I won't quit until I find a way.

OK, let's try to outsmart this Windows. If you don't allow me to uninstall it from the standard app panel, I'll try with the good old one that is still part of the OS. Ah ! Ah ! There's so much hidden things here, I may have found something.
Launching uninstall... and it just repair it.

Let's dig further and check into the additional/optional windows components !!!
Interesting, there's an option to uninstall IE. I thought it was removed as Edge is now the integrated (and not uninstable) OS browser.
So let's try removing it, it won't hurt that much.

A reboot later, Steam is working as it should !!!

Seriously, it was pretty simple in the end. How could it could be known and integrated in Steam to deal with it properly ? I know I think I'm good in my work but I don't pretend to be THAT good to find something noone mentioned before on the interweb.

Not sure if it counts as it is related to potilicians (basically anything related to them is wtf).

For several years now, there's a global project to improve and expand public transport around Paris called 'Le Grand Paris'.
This includes things such as extanding metro and tramway lines, creating new ones, etc...

Obviously it requires space to be done. Some have been collected by towns in advance but some should now been acquired without choice for the actual owners. So far nothing unusual, it could be bad sometimes but it also have to be done and the laws here includes several supports for the owners. That's not the point here, just the context.

One city will host a new major station including maintenance warehouse so a lot of space will be needed. As expected several citizens, once adviced that they are part of it asked the mayor why they weren't noticed earlier.

The mayor answered that as he's been elected recently, he didn't had time to be fully updated on the subject.

Fair enough, it could be a bit short as an answer but it may be valid.

The thing is, when you check the mayor's full title list you'll notice one in particular: 'vice-president du Grand Paris' (I don't think I need to translate it'
