I genuinely cannot bring myself to pass these bits on to a friend who bought in hard on Tohaa. The faction feels like it's been jerked around too much. If something happens, it happens.
We'll see current profiles updated, that's for sure since it was promised. But i guess no new profiles ever.
Deep down I'll hope that they'll get them into a place where they want to/can do more work on them. Also hopefully we'll get some profiles shuffled over from Spiral, I feel like Tohaa got so screwed on them. Though I guess this is an incentive to actually play spiral outside of a couple interesting fireteams and the cool fish.
The Kiuutan alone (an Impersonater) has proved to be an awesome force multiplier. The mere threat of its possible existence in your lists may change the way your opontn deploys. And if you have it and your oponent is not careful, it can be very effective for killing a few cheerleaders in the first turn. The Draal is also awesome, and the best piece in the game when it comes to facing Fireteams. It sucked that we didn't get all the Spiral Corps profiles, but the ones we got where more than enought to make our Faction even more powerful and to give us more choices at listbuilding. CB just need to fix the bad profiles (Longarms, mostly, and also Reex to some extent).
I was actually thinking that their planned redo of Fire Teams would be a good time to re introduce Tohaa to an extent.
100% this! Though I don't want another "band aid NA2 solution" for Tohaa problem in the future, I want mature redesign with unique features and rules, as it was when the faction was just released. Honestly, I don't really care about new units that Tohaa got via Spiral (though they are great), imho main focus in the future should be on Chaksas, symbiobeasts and other exalted creatures, not some mercenary fodder. Sorry, a bit off topic, I guess I just want to be as excited by Tohaa in N4 as I was when the faction was just released.
it's just matter of time from the Tohaa comeback, you can rest asure And yes, Spiral Reinforcements and New Spec Ops options for Tohaa are quite awesome
I've been doing a lot of thinking about Symbiont Armour in N4. During the Twitch stream we were told that multi profile stuff such as symbiont Armour , lo tech, transform, is all going to be transmutation. I think this will be huge, as N4's goal is removing nested rules. Symbiont Armour has a lot of nested stuff that may just poof with the new version. -The distribution of Mates and Bombs. -Fire weakness -+3 Phys on medkit/Regen -Shock Immunity -The ability to slip out the Armour and as a result out of IMM, ISO, and Targeted. It's not all bad, and it's all guessing but it's big changes if it goes the way it seems.
A lot of people don't know all about the inner skills to wear Symbiont Amour, so if they write all of the traits in the profile will be good for the courtesy lists But, also opens the way to nerf by removing some traits
Symbiont Armor really only has one nested rule (the Active Symbiont State). Symbiont Armor just gives you the Regen bonus and the Active Symbiont Armor state. Active Symbiont just gives you fire weakness (not even relevant for most of Tohaa now) and the ability to cancel the state to cancel IMM/etc. Symbio-stuff distribution is handled by each of those rules, and Shock Immunity is granted by rules in Shock Ammo (the rule about stuff with multiple profiles not being affected by Shock).
Tohaa always looked satisfying mechanically to me, if perhaps a little overtuned. My big gripes were always the detached lore (Tohaa are doing something, but nobody outside the relevant Tohaa faction ever learned about it, removing the potential for real engagement) and the difficulty CB were obviously facing in extending the faction (Triad makes the current Wildcard soup look simple to balance). I think between the timeskip and the simplification of all the alternate rules Tohaa uses in N4 there's potential for the faction to come back in a big way, but I suspect it will be a while before CB's team can get around to the mountain of work re-inventing a whole faction full of unique mechanics represents. Symbiont Armour is probably going to get really expensive in the interim between translation and remake though, all those special skills being looked at in a de-nested context must bring about a price hike unless there's some hand adjustment planned.Though, if it keeps the option to Transmute voluntarily, it may be worth it since Jammers are going disposable and Paramedics got buffed.
As you have seen these days, one of the new additions of N4 are the PARA CC WEAPONS Do you expect this new weapon only in the profiles that already have an Electric Pulse, or do you think that some other profile can obtain this weapon? Igao? Neema? Makaul?
For the most part in N3 > Code One, it's just electric pulse being carried over. I would say that Adil Mehmut is an exception, they feel like they were given electric pulse with N4/Code One in mind, the choice between Monofilament and Electric pulse on that unit seems like a waste of space, but adding an extra -6 is a little more reasonable, so it's definitely possible it gets spread around more than just converting electric pulse. What we've seen of N4 it's all over Starmada stuff but they are the glue boys over there in 0-12. As far as in current Tohaa we don't have much glue, as in the Gao-Rael exclusively, who I guess could be given it, outside of him though I'm not sure if it fits elsewhere.
it's a good weapon to prevent to be obliterated by expert martial artists, i want some PARA CC Weapons in a few profiles hehehe :p
The only Tohaa profile where I think we have any chance of getting a PARA weapon, is the Chaksa Servant.
