Can't wait for the redesigned Paracommandos and Scots. Not too hyped about the bear, to be honest. I get the idea but it seems a bit over the top.
Agreed...I am very excited for the Paracommandos, SAS and other Scots. Honestly, I would have rather that CB have updated MRRF and CHA and skipped the new sectorial all together.
Yeah, I'm really going to need to see a sculpt for Team Polaris before I'm totally convinced. I'm open to it since Ariadna seems to revel in being over the top at times (werewolves galore, Jin-Roh Russians, Captain America, swords and Scotts in spaaaaaaace, etc) but it's going to have to be suitably badass to overcome skepticism.
Yeah that's gonna be an interesting batch. The paracommando is a big departure from the old bmx helmet wearing badass. SAS looks identical but upscale which is fine, glad I don't have to play with a child model next to the rest of the adult team anymore
What do you guys think of the 15model cap? I like the idea myself, can see a lot of ariadna and haqq players hating it though. I like that we'll see more elites on the board, it should drive more utility out of hacking as a whole which has been niche for years and take the game away from maxing out the ava of repeaterbots
Personally I like it, gives me a reason to use Blackjacks, Tankhunters, Scouts, Kosmosoldats, Wulvers, and all our other slightly premium choices without my minimax instincts telling me I should have more orders.
At least we have how many Fusilier miniatures? 11? (Op: Icestorm 3, SWC Pack 4, Op Kaltstrom 3, Paint Kit 1)
19, 20 if you count Angus. N1 Starter x4 HMG Sniper Hacker LGL Angus Icestorm x3 SWC x4 Paint kit Kaldstrøm X3 https://human-sphere.com/index.php?title=Fusilier#:~:text=Fusiliers are the best corps, operations, Fusiliers are the army.
I'm a little sad that I'm never going to see the mythical 44 Highlanders + William Wallace list. Other than that pure jank silliness that nobody seriously used and is probably boring as heck to fight anyway, I'm very happy with the rule for the reasons you stated. Though, it will definitely take more getting used to for some sectorials.
True. Though I think I like the idea of the list more than the list itself. Imagine waiting for one player to go through 45 orders.
Fugly generic schmucks. And I bet there will be a ton of chuds painting Losers' Rag on them, just like with the bikers. Paracommandos and the SAS look promising, Polaris Team hangs on the pose, otherwise I'm proxying him with this one ;)
WTF is the bearpode? Is he a bakunin altered dogwarrior, who wanted to be a bear instead of a dog? Are there more than antipodes that infect people on Dawn? He clearly isn't just a big bear monster, he's walking upright like a dogwarrior, carries a gun, wears a uniform and communications headset? But he also seems to need some sort of control unit/babysitter? WTF are you???!!! Paracommandos look fantastic. Not sure what is up with their shotgun, maybe that's the T2 boarding shotgun design, cause the SAS still had the old one. Also they put the hideous light shotguns back in the dossiers rather than the awesome new ones on Kazak space units. SAS look like they mostly got brought up more in line with the the newer style of ariadnan units. I really hope he'll be wearing his gas mask instead of forever wearing it on his elbow. Overall everything looks great. even the bearpodes design looks good. But if he is just going to be dogwarrior [bear edition] please put him back and give me a dog. Also why all the hate on the Monstrucker. What were you expecting that would have done to have gotten their flavor across better? I rather dig the look, and as a bonus he'll probably make a pretty solid Varangian stand in until they come out. Speaking of Varangians, They just got announced to be in all the new sectorals, but we get no clue to their look or hint of them upcoming. Really rather surprised by that. Seeing so much for Cosmoflot and Nomads makes me curious if we might see them in the next two player starter.
Yes, those stereotypical... unionized space Muslim magboot truckers... perhaps if there was a space Michigan sectorial. I understand having some issues with the concept but, at least to me, it's a pretty cool execution that makes me think of haulers on The Expanse or that technician on Megas XLR. And if anyone, understandably, takes issue with folks painting on confederate stripes, lean hard in the other direction and paint them up as members of the S.R.A., R.R., or similar leftist groups. If it works for Sigmarxists, should work here. Heck, Nuada, given previous comments you've made you could consider this a bit of progress since CB avoided putting confederate stuff on these guys. I get your point with the desperado. Ended painting those bikes up in the colors of the Mexican flag and made one of their capes a sarape. But these space truckers are far more neutral.
Dawn has a number of bear-like mammals, especially in Rodina and Tartary. While not actual bears they're close enough that the colonists simply referred to them as such. Ariadnan bears can also be infected by the Antipodean cuckoo retrovirus. Though successful hybrids are rare they do exist. The Kazaks call the Drekavacs after the Slavic myth, but they're also sometimes simply referred to as Bearpodes. This is all from the Ariadna supplement from the RPG, not sure if it's also mentioned elsewhere, but it's cool to see them in the Wargame too.
But do those creatures have their own version of the Cuckoo virus? Which then leads to if the dog warriors can also spread it too? Or Wulvers?
No, the Bear is infected by Cuckoo in much the same way as a human. So a Dogface is a Human/Antipode hybrid, and a Drekavac is a Bear/Antipode hybrid (and a Wulver is the child of a Dogface and a human.) But the hybrids themselves don't carry the retrovirus. Theoretically there could exist a bear equivalent of a Wulver, the offspring of a bear and a Drekavac, but Bearpodes are very rare to begin with.
There is def some funny business that, to me, smells Nomady. Cognitive uplifts, genetic engineering, advanced Cossack bear education, who knows cause Bostria was being hella coy in the presentation. Complete with a knowing grin. It's going to be fun seeing what the fluff background is here.
